He has received many literary prizes; among the most recent are: Premi de la Crítica Serra d’Or for translation of Jonathan Litter’s 2008 novel Les benignes; International Latino Book Awards 2013 in the category of Best Children’s Fiction Picture Book for Egipto; Premi Gran Angular 2013 for La balada del funicular miner, and the Premi Crítica Serra d’Or for Literatura Infantil i Juvenil, 2013 for the same work.
At the same time, he is a translator of several languages, including French, English, Galician, and Basque, from which language he was the first translator directly into Catalan. He has also done indirect translations from Albanian, Norwegian, Swedish, and Chinese. A professional of broad spectrum, he also teaches at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and has worked as a corrector (editor), organizer of writers’ workshops, cultural agent, literary assessor, and script writer for television programs and literary critic. He has published more than 150 translations.

Pau Joan Hernàndez is a poet and novelist born in the neighborhood of Gràcia in Barcelona. He began to write at a young age and at eighteen years old he published Tot et serà pres, a novel for young people about euthanasia; with nearly forty editions it has become his best-selling book. In poetry, after Si nego el bosc, published in 1986 within the volume of winners of the Premi Amadeu Oller, he published Joc de daus (Martí Dot Prize 1988) and Camarades grecs (1991). Since then, most of his work is narrative for young people, constituting more than thirty titles, with numerous printings and translated into Castilian (Spanish).
