Biography in English

Danièla Estèbe-Hoursiangou is an Occitan journalist and author born in Cahors. She studies Spanish and only much later will she learnOccitan, her father's mother tongue.

She starts her professional career as a journalist at Sud Ouest where she becomes increasingly involved in review writing and literary criticism. In 2004 she meets Bernard Manciet and her life takes a turn: she begins to write fiction, especially poetry, in the Gascon variant of Occitan. Since then, she publishes regularly in Revista Oc, becoming a member of the editorial team, first, and its director, later on. In parallel she also writes in French: Le Jardin published by In8 in 2006, and several articles for Europe, the prestigious Parisian literary magazine. In 2013 one of her most accomplished works came out: Parçans esconuts / Territoires cachés, an Occitan/French bilingual poetry collection.
