Biography in English

Ion Cristofor is an anthor from Geaca, Cluj county, Romania. Poet, literary critic, translator, he graduated from the Philology Faculty of Cluj-Napoca, in the Romanian-French Department in 1976, PhD. in Philology in 2001 and Master in Administration in 2006. He is part of the literary group gathered around the cultural journal Echinox since 2001. He is a member of the Romanian Pen Club.

His debut with the volume entitled În odăile fulgerului [In the rooms of lightning] (1982), was followed by severeal collections of poetry, works of literary criticism, essays, interviews and translations. Cina pe mare (1988), Marsyas (2001), Casa cu un singur perete (2004), Sárbatoare la cospiciu (2004), O cupcà peratro poet (2007), Angore et taedio (2009), Cine a dat foc Romei (2010) and Geamantanul de sticlá / The Glass Suitcase (2011), his latest bilingual poetry collection.

His own poems have been translated and published in magazines and anthologies in Great Britain, France, Sweden, South Korea, Czech Republic, Eire, Slovakia, Canada, Hungary, Japan, Serbia among other languages.

In 2011 he participated in the bilingual Catalan/Romanian poetry performance Veus Paral·leles 9/ Voci paralele 9 who was seen in throughout the Catalan Countries.
