Miquel Arnaudies i Martí

Miquel Arnaudies i Martí is an author and writer born and based in Ceret, Northern Catalonia. Since 1975 when his works were first exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art of his home town, he hasn’t stopped exhibiting: Larzac, Toulouse, Perpignan, Cotlliure… In his life’s journey, he’s met outstanding artists like Antoni Tàpies, Joan Brossa, Alfred Manessier, Claude Viallat. Focused first on painting he started writing novels, poetry and artist’s books. An engaged author, he doesn’t shy away from activism, standing for the recognition of the Catalan language and identity within the French State through his writing. In Contes empipats (2013), Palanques (2018) and La terra és llaurada de fresc, among his most outstanding books, his commitment to his mother tongue --i.e. “Catalan, the way it was spoken at home”-- is crystal clear.  He uses it unapologetically, putting it at the service of literature.

He is the current president of the Federació per a la defensa de la llengua i la cultura catalanes, he is the Northern Catalonia consultant of the UCE, the Catalan Summer University's governing team and is a board member of the Northern Catalonia section of the ANC, the Catalan National Assembly.

She collaborates with the Multiple Versions Project since 2021 , when at the request of the Project coordination Team, he participated in the homage the Occitan literary review revista ÒC dedicated to author Renada-Laura Portet, on the eve of her death.
