Dr. Elena Gutierrez currently teaches IB Spanish at Saint Julians School near Lisbon in Portugal. She taught multiple Spanish courses for almost 20 years at the university level in the USA, mostly as Clinical Assistant Professor of Spanish at the Catholic University of America and also at the American University. A native of Palencia (Spain), Dr. Gutierrez combines her interest in the English and Spanish language with her passion for literature and translation. She received her M.A. in Spanish from the West Virginia University and holds a Ph.D. from Catholic University with a dissertation on Early Modern Women’s literature titled “The Poetry of María de Zayas: Poetic, Feminine, and Musical Contexts”.
