On September 27th, 2021, grammy award-winning artist, Robert Kelly A.K.A R’kelly was found guilty of sexual exploitation of a child, bribery, racketeering, and sex trafficking. It all started in 2002 when Robert was indicted on 21 counts of child pornography but was acquitted in 2008. 11 years later he was accused of rape and sex trafficking. “This is not me. I’m fighting for my f---ing life.” Rkelly said during an interview back in 2019.

After hearing about Rkelly being found guilt, I decided to interview two students from Carver HSES. Two different genders and two different answers. “I am expecting different answers from both of you two.” Jayden Rhodes a 12th grader at Carver HSES gave me his insight on the situation. “It’s about time. This has been going on for many years. Also from a female perspective, Amiyah A. also a 12 grader at Carver HSES explained her feelings on the topic. “It took a couple of years to pay attention to the case because it wasn’t around my generation. There was plenty of evidence.”

Since Jayden was a male I wanted to see who he would side with in the situation. “I agree with the jury. Coming from a household where my mother and father taught me to respect women, It was heartbreaking to hear would this man did. Many people may be victims and are scared to come out. I asked Amiyah if she knew any victims. “No, I don’t know any victims, I may know victims but they’re just scared to come out.

After over 2 decades, it’s a good thing to see that Rkelly was finally charged. Gloria was the lawyer going against Kelly, this is what she had to say. "Of all the predators that I have pursued, Mr. Kelly is the worst."
