Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 6: Stone Ocean, premiered on Netflix, unlike the other seasons, broadcasting 12 episodes for fans to watch in December before the rest of the part premieres in late January. Jojo part 6 is just as good as the other parts, providing an interesting storyline and stunning graphics.

The show starts with the opening, which has gone back to being animated in 3D just like the first 3 parts were. It’s a nice throwback to the earlier parts (having some parallels between her father Jotaro’s opening in part 3) and also fits part 6 well. Not only are the Visuals amazing, but the song also is great and while it might not fit the theme of the part, It is definitely a banger.

The plot really gets going when Jolyene is sentenced to 15 years in Green Dolphin Prison after being involved in a car accident and being framed for the murder. After her father, Jotaro gives her a pendent it awakens her stand, Stone Free. This setup was very different from other parts, especially since all of it takes place inside of the same prison area. I felt that the atmosphere inside of the prison was done well, and it also added a sense of fear because getting caught or fighting in the prison could lead to consequences. It makes the stakes feel higher since the characters have less freedom.

Jolyne is a very enjoyable protagonist to watch. Not only is she creative with her stand after only having it for a short amount of time, but we also get to see her struggle and learn to use it. She can be hot-headed and is confrontational, but she can also be very compassionate and funny. Her compassionate side really shows through in her relationships with others, especially Emporio. Her character really elevates the series, it wouldn’t be as good if Jolyne wasn’t written how she is.

The other main characters are also great additions to the part. Emporio is a super helpful kid who assists Jolyne in her mission to get her fathers stand disc back to him. Ermes is a good friend to Jolyne and is just as interesting. F.F was once an enemy who becomes an ally and they’re definitely a fun addition. The characters all have strengths that they bring to the table and play off jolyne well. The interactions between the characters make Stone Ocean enjoyable, it wouldn’t be the same without it.

The fight scenes have great animation and they use a mix of 3d and 2d. Some of the 3d animation can look a bit out of place, but for the most part it blends well and doesn’t break the show’s immersion. Each scene is colorful and brings the show to life. Combined with amazing music and voice acting, you can really feel how hard the staff worked to make this happen. The writing and plotline are also amazing, ande each enemy stand user is unique, making each fight interesting. No two fights are the same, each one brings something new to the table in terms of plot and character development. With so much going on it can be easy to get overwhelmed, but there’s never a dull moment throughout the series.

While it started off a bit slow at first, the pacing was excellent and was a great setup for the climax of the 12 episodes. The way it started with Jolyne trying to figure out her new stand ability and then the slow reveal of the main villain, really let the characters shine and show off what they could do. The main villain, Pucci, is interesting because he holds a high position within the prison, and also has a connection to Dio. The fact that he has a high status means he can do things that the other characters can’t get away with, making for a very interesting dynamic.

If you’re already a Jojo fan, you should definitely give part 6 a chance. Not only are the characters amazing, but so is the plot. The animation, plot, and characters, are probably the best out of all the parts. Jolyne isn’t a protagonist you see often, especially in a female character, and is one of the most interesting Jojos in the entire series.

Stone ocean is definitely worth your time, the only problem with watching it is waiting for new episodes to release.
