Young entrepreneurs at Carver had the opportunity to showcase their products at the Carver Pop-up shop! The event was on March 30th at E&S the whole school day. This event allowed students to get exposure and received all of the profit that they got.

The pop-up shop had a total of 21 students who sold their products. These products consisted of baked goods, bracelets, and more. Planning everything from putting up tables, making sure everything is ready, and organizing is very hard and required a team.

BSU economics co-chairman Jordan Harmon and Tiffani Billups talked to me about how the event was innovated.

" We always thought that this was a good idea, especially for Carver and their students because there is so much talent within our community “, Tiffani stated. “ We wanted to create a space where students can show off their products and be comfortable “.

Both Tiffani and Jordan seniors at Carver, making this their last year as BSU chairman. Due to this, there will be new chairmen. Jordan and Tiffani gave advice for the future chairmen.

“ Start early with your planning and have a good plan to execute the plan before you decide you want to do something, “ Tiffani said. “ Even the smallest idea can become something great ,“ Jordan stated.

Being an entrepreneur and creating your own products can be challenging. Mikalah Mitchell, a participant in the pop-up shop, talked to me about the key aspects to owning your own business.

“ You get to be independent, you have freedom to be able to do what you want, when you wanna do it“, Mikalah stated. “  You need to take your time, don't procrastinate and do it at your own pace “.

Mikalah is a student, a member of the BSU, and a business owner, while only being in the 9th grade. Doing all of these things while keeping good grades can be very stressful. She talked to me about how she juggles being a student and an entrepreneur.

“ I use being a student to my advantage “, Mikalah stated. “ By promoting my business page ( @Kupcakes&Kurls ) to my teachers and classmates, I get exposure to more people in my area “.

High school helps students prepare for their future and find out what career they wanna pursue. Tiffani, Jordan, and Mikalah expressed that they would love to pursue economics and business management in the future.

“ I would love to be an entrepreneur in the future “, Mikalah stated. “ Being able to own your own business and do whatever, whenever, you can’t beat that". " I actually want a minor in finance economics “ Tiffani said. “ Being a chairman in the economics committee made me wanna major in Business Management “, Jordan said.
