SEPTA passenger wins settlement after “fed up” bus driver refuses to open the back door

SEPTA bus operators are sick and tired of people screaming “BACK DOOR” in Philadelphia. On the evening of November 16, 2019 a woman by the name of Felicia Broner was trying to exit at the rear exit of the route 58 bus. When asked about the incident, she recounted, , “Girl, I was screaming back door at this ugly behind bus driver and she wouldn't open the door for me.” Because of this inconvenience, Felicia couldn't catch the Popeyes chicken sandwich before the restaurant closed for the night. She described the bus driver as, “dirty and crusty and her edges was lifting and her breath stink.” The case went to court under the name Felicia vs. Septa, even though Felicia said it should be “Felicia So Cute vs. The Ugly Bus Driver.” The bus driver, Maria, defended herself, saying, “I have been a bus driver for 25 years and I used to open the back door, but now I’m fed up at people yelling insults at me and screaming “back door”. I’m tired of being nice.Their lazy behinds can get up and come to the front.” During this emotional interview, Maria began to cry because people really hurt her feelings when they scream at her. She’s even been experiencing sleep troubles, waking up multiple times during the night with the phrase ringing in her ears. Statistics shows that 75% of a bus driver’s work day is people screaming “back door”. The case went to court and it ruled in favor of Felicia. She is now winning a year transpass and three thousand dollars for trauma due to not receiving her chicken sandwich, causing her to have a breakdown as she walked home.
