Ms. Huda's presence will be greatly missed in school by students, parents and staff and we express our sincerest gratitude for her unwavering commitment and contributions.

GETTING READY FOR THE NEW ACADEMIC YEAR!
Whether you have travel plans or are enjoying a staycation, we believe that reading is a wonderful way to explore new worlds, expand knowledge and ignite the imagination. To encourage a love for reading and provide access to a wide range of good-quality books, we are pleased to announce that our school library will be open parents and students to borrow books for summer holiday.
Monday 10th July to Wednesday 12th July
Monday 14th August to Wednesday 16th August
EYFS to Year 2 students can visit the Infant Library
Year 3 to Year 8 students can visit the second floor Library
Please have a look at the books that will be read for the academic year 2023-24. You may have your child read these books in preparation for the academic year. To promote wider reading a recommended list of additional books that the children can read alongside the story being studied are given.
There will be no change to the uniform style or color scheme for the new academic year. Therefore, students can continue to wear their existing uniform if they wish. Please note that whilst existing uniforms can be worn, we kindly remind you to ensure that they meet the school's uniform requirements. Uniform items should be clean, in good condition and appropriately sized for your child.
It has come to our notice that some students are wearing incorrect shoes, wrong color socks, incorrect jackets, and wrong color trousers/skirts. Please ensure that the clothing you purchase for your child complies with these specifications:
Al Salam School grey school jackets are also available for purchase from the school. Parents may visit the school during school hours to check the jacket sizes.
All students can wear the Al Salam School grey jacket or sweater when attending school or when they are off campus on educational trips or events. Please note, all other coloured jackets and sweaters are not allowed.
A friendly reminder: Please ensure to write your child's name on their school jacket. With so many similar items at school, jackets can easily get misplaced or lost. However, when a name is clearly labelled, lost items ca be returned to their owner. Taking this small step can save you from the inconvenience of replacing a lost jacket.
FS1 to Year 2- Standard school issued PE uniform (white dry fit polo shirt with red collar) and black track pants should be worn.
Year 3 to Year 9 wear a PE shirt reflecting the colour of the House they have been assigned to (Red, Yellow, Green and Blue). PE shirts will be purchased in accordance with the House designated to the child. Year 3 and new students will be assigned a House on their first day of school and all our current students remain in their previous House.
Year 3 parents are urged not to purchase a white PE shirt as each child will be assigned a House upon commencing school.
Shoes - These should be plain black, with no additional colour, whether this be a small / feint, white or grey stripe for example, this type of footwear is not allowed.
PE Shoes should be white or black only.
The socks should be white.

Some of the bags students bring to school now are way too big and heavy. If a student has a large bag, they feel they need to fill it, this should not be the case. Our students should be bringing to school only minimal items, a water bottle (every day), lunch box, reading books, pencil case and a device for our Year 3 and above students.
We would like to remind parents about the requirement for students from Year 3 to Year 9 to have a school-managed Chromebook.
All Chromebook models will be in stock by the end of July 2023, at the latest. We kindly request parents to collect the Chromebooks from the school starting from 1st August 2023. By collecting the Chromebooks ahead of time, parents can ensure that their child is fully prepared and ready before the start of the new academic year. It will also allow students to familiarize themselves with the device in advance.
More information and instructions can be found on the Al Salam Schools Digital Learning website: https://sites.google.com/alsalamcommunity.ae/al-salam-digital-learning/

If you have applied for your parent ID kindly contact our Front Office for collection.

We would like to remind you that Parents and Students are expected to be in compliance with the attendance requirement pertaining to unnecessary absences in accordance with the KHDA Parent-School Contract. Attendance records kept by the school are reported to the KHDA. Their view is that there is ample time for holidays to be taken during the school holidays (winter break, spring break and summer months).
Proposed term dates for the upcoming academic year are subject to change. Parents are advised to schedule their vacations or travel plans to be taken during the school holiday.
News of public & Eid holidays will be followed as per the government announcement in the local media.
Here, we have compiled a few learning resources that will keep your children engaged and support learning during the summer break.
