To maintain a safe and supportive environment at ASPS, we ask parents/legal guardians to inform us if there have been any recent changes that you believe we should be aware of that may impact your child(ren)'s experience at school. Whether it involves changes in guardianship, family dynamics or any other relevant information, we are here to offer support and ensure your child(ren)'s continued safety and wellbeing.
Please know that any information you share with us will be treated with the utmost confidentiality and sensitivity. Our primary concern is the welfare of your child(ren) and we will provide them with the support they need to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
We ask that you reach out to either your child's Head of Department or our Head of Wellbeing, Ms Hareem Rehman <h.rehman@alsalamschool.ae>. We are here to assist you and ensure that appropriate measures are taken to support you and your children.
We have had some queries from families regarding the exact dates of assessments for Term 2 and Term 3. We appreciate your interest in planning your family travels accordingly.
It is important to clarify that travel in term time is not permitted unless there are extremely mitigating circumstances. Students are expected to attend school until the last day of each term.
Please note that we have a series of mandatory external and internal assessments scheduled for both Term 2 and Term 3. While we understand the need for clarity regarding these dates, we cannot disclose the exact assessment dates as these are currently fluid and subject to change.
We would like to remind all parents that attendance will be recorded and is mandatory for all students until the last day of the academic year. Missing school days due to holidays can result in a loss of valuable educational opportunities. We ask you to schedule family vacations after the conclusion of the academic year.
We are sharing our proposed term dates below, including weeks designated for exams.
As previously advised, our school term dates are approved by the KHDA. Parents are advised to schedule their vacations or travel plans to be taken during the school holiday.
The holy pilgrimage for Hajj will be taking place in June and we have had queries with regards to applying for leave. Please note some 'frequently asked questions' pertaining to such requests.
If we are planning to go to Hajj and take the children, will I be granted authorised leave of absence?
Yes. We will be approving leave for Hajj upon receipt of the documentations confirming the pilgrimage. These would include: visa, bookings and flight tickets for yourself and the students.
Can my child(ren) take their end of term assessments early?
No. There are internal and external assessments in Term 3 and these are scheduled over a period of several weeks. We are not able to shuffle days around.
In the event that any internal assessments are pending, we would offer the student an average of assessments already undertaken- to ensure there is no loss of grades. Parents are encouraged to complete the necessary leave of absence forms to ensure these provisions are made and to get authorised leave.
We are planning to travel for Umrah- will we be entitled to authorised leave?
No. Umrah is not restricted to specific dates- but Hajj is. We ask parents to book Umrah during scheduled breaks to avoid loss of school days. Leave request for Umrah is considered unauthorised absence.
We would like to remind parents of the upcoming half-term break scheduled for February.
The half term break will start on Tuesday, 13th February to Friday, 16th February. Please note that Monday, 12th February is a regular school day for all students. We kindly ask that you ensure your child attends school as usual on this day.
FS Sports Days are fast approaching! We want to ensure that all our students are prepared and that parents are informed of the schedule and their participation in this exciting event.
We request parents to arrive promptly at 8:15 am to ensure you don't miss any of the exciting moments of the day.
Important reminders:
Students should wear their PE uniform.
Please ensure your child brings snacks, water bottle and a hat/cap.
We will follow a regular school day schedule. If your child goes by bus they can stay in the school as buses will leave at the normal time.
The MPH will once again be transformed into a gallery, adorned with the wonderful artworks crafted by our students.

We are excited to welcome Ms. Hilda Youssef to ASPS on Wednesday, 7th February, where she will be sharing her delightful book, "Snowy & Zoey in a New World"!
Ms. Hilda will be conducting a special book reading session with our Year 2 students, followed by a book signing opportunity. You have the chance to pre-order your copy of "Snowy & Zoey in a New World" for your child.
To reserve a copy, please send an email to Ms. Mona on m.darwish@alsalamschool.ae by Monday, 5th February 2024. Each book is priced at AED 35, which can be sent along with your child.
We are pleased to share the enriching experience our secondary students recently had at the "Torch Bearer - 2nd Inter School Islamic Youth Convention." A total of 130 students participated in this event, organised for the second consecutive year by the Al Manar Islamic Centre under the esteemed patronage of HH Sheikha Hind Bint Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum, held on the 25th of January at Expo City.
One of the best highlights was witnessing our Year 9 student, Younis Mamoun, taking the stage for a question and answer session with Mufti Menk. Younis not only had the opportunity to interact with him but also showcased his beautiful recitation of the Quran, MashaAllah. It was truly a memorable moment for all of us.
A heartfelt appreciation to Dolphin Sports Academy for partnering with the ASPS Inclusion Department to arrange this exceptional service on 20th January, 2024. Students are gaining valuable insights through the complimentary swimming assessment, conducted by skilled female and male coaches, with supervision from parents providing continuous encouragement throughout the session.
The Wellbeing Heroes are excited to introduce their very first initiative: Exploring the Adaptability stream of ASPS C.A.R.E.S., students from Year 4 to Year 9 are challenged to bring their books to school in anything, as long as it is not a school bag.
While we encourage creativity and innovation, we understand that there may be concerns about potential damage of Chromebooks without proper bags. Please note that students can leave their Chromebooks at home on this day. These devices will not be required for the activities of the day.
We have invited the Magical Lantern theater team to present "My Country, the UAE" in Arabic for our students from FS1 to Year 6. This theatrical performance aims to engage our students in a meaningful exploration of our country's culture, values and traditions.
To ensure that your child can participate in this special event, we kindly ask you to register them for the performance at our school.
