A special assembly for students in Year 1 to Year 3 organised by Ms. Juny (Counsellor of FS- Year 4) led to significant success for the 'Every Child is Special' campaign. During her presentation, Ms. Juny emphasised the importance of recognising and embracing individuality, irrespective of their diverse needs and attributes. She also highlighted the values of empathy and kindness, promoting strong relationships and fostering acceptance of the varying needs of children.
Wellbeing Focus groups for Upper Primary and secondary students also continued this week with a focus on how comfortable students are in sharing how they are feeling with people and how they take care of themselves and their mental health and emotional wellbeing.
The Wellbeing Award has reached its final stages. We are preparing for a final evaluation in the first week of December. Our students have prepared a short video summarising what wellbeing looks like at ASPS.
We kindly request your support in encouraging your children to complete the evaluation form as part of their final assessment for the award. This form is also conveniently accessible on the Wellbeing Google Classroom.
Our incredible primary school students are leading the charge in our bottle, can and paper recycle collection drive! 🥤📦♻️ They are not just recycling, they are setting the bar high by ensuring everything is clean before it goes into the bin!
Let's keep this momentum going! Every bottle, can, and paper counts.
We are thrilled to share the incredible work of our secondary students who have been hard at work on a special sustainability project. They have taken recycling to a whole new level by creating their very own Recycling Box from recycled materials!

The observance of Maulid Nabi (The Prophet's birth) (Peace be upon him) will take place on the 12th Rabi Al Awwal 1445 Hijri Date. While recognizing the significance of the arrival of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him), neither he nor his close companions observed this day as a celebration. Nonetheless, it presents a valuable occasion to reflect on the profound impact he has had on the world.
To mark this day, we have planned special activities during our Arabic and Islamic lessons on the 27th, designed to incorporate and reflect upon its importance. These activities aim to deepen our understanding and appreciation of Prophet Muhammad's (Peace be upon him).
World Heart day will be celebrated on Thursday 28th of September. It is intended to increase awareness of cardiovascular diseases and their prevention. This year's theme is 'Use Heart for Every Heart'.
We have planned a range of activities to be conducted in Science lessons across the school.
Students from Years 7-9 will be participating in the upcoming MUNs in the month of October at The Gems Modern Academy, Dubai (GMAMUN 2023) on the 20-22nd October and GEMS Winchester School (WSDMUN) on the 6th, 7th and 8th of October.

Secondary school being a stepping stone to higher education, believes that homework
provides the opportunity to practise, consolidate and reinforce skills and understanding from work done in school;
it provides opportunities to explore something new and/or independently;
it allows time to prepare something for the next lesson;
it helps students to learn to manage their time and to be able to work independently which will help throughout their time at school and in the future;
it is important in raising student achievement;
homework enhances pupil learning, improves achievement and develops students' study skills and as such is an integral part of the curriculum.
You can find the Year 7 to 9 homework schedule here.
We ask all parents to ensure that you wear the Parent ID badge visibly whenever you visit the school premises. This is essential for security purposes and helps our staff easily identify you as an authorised parent or guardian.
Visitor identification is mandatory and visitors, including parents and staff, are issued a clearly visible ID badge to be worn at all times when they are on school premises. The ID badge should be easily seen and presented to any school staff member. When an ID badge is present, everyone knows at a glance if you are a parent or staff.
Al Salam School uses a lanyard identification system, which makes it easy for our students, staff and parents to understand the status of all adults on school site:
Parents/Legal Guardian/ Authorised Care Providers
Al Salam Staff
Regular visitors to the school who have undergone security check and who do not require supervision.
Occasional visitors to the school who should be accompanied by a staff at all times.
No unsupervised access to school premises during or after the school day.
Starting Monday 25th September:
We will be implementing strict measures regarding Parent IDs. It is imperative that all parents entering the school premises have their valid Parent ID with them.
Our team will be actively checking and reminding parents who arrive without their Parent ID Card to either collect or obtain their card. This is a crucial step in ensuring the safety and security of our school community.
Any adult on a Red lanyard who is not accompanied on site will be asked and accompanied to the Front Office.
For your children’s safety please inform the school at the start of the day if you require someone else to collect your child early from school. Please contact or email the school (through your PCode school Gmail account) to let us know who is authorised to do so:
Salam Nursery- nursery@alsalamschool.ae
ASPS FS1-FS2- eyfs@alsalamschool.ae
Year 1-6- primary@alsalamschool.ae
Year 7-9- secondary@alsalamschool.ae
For new parents, we strongly encourage you to apply for your Parent ID Card to avoid any inconvenience during your visits. For existing parents, please remember to always wear your ID card around your neck whilst on the school premises.
For parents who have already submitted an application, please contact our school office at 04 267 9594 or email reception@alsalamschool.ae to check the status of your application.
An important reminder to parents with students who have been issued a walk home pass to please ensure they wear them visibly when leaving the school premises. The walk home pass serves as an easy identification that the authorisation has been given.
Students without a valid walk home pass will not be permitted to leave the school. In such cases, parents will be promptly contacted to arrange for student pick-up.
We would also like to clarify that walk home passes will only be issued to students from Year 6 onwards. We can only issue a walk home pass for students in Year 3, 4 and 5 provided they are leaving the school with an older sibling in Year 6 or above. It is important to note that the oldest sibling must be in Year 6 onwards and cannot take a sibling in FS1 / FS2 / Year 1-2.
Please note that the walk home pass for students in Year 3-5, even if they have a sibling in Year 6 or above, may be subject to revocation or withdrawal. This decision will be made based on the professional judgment of the staff member at the school. If it is deemed that the older sibling is not suitable for this responsibility, the student will not be handed over to the sibling.
We would like to emphasise that this policy has been in effect since it has been published in the ASPS Parent Handbook in August of 2019 and its consistency is crucial for the safety of our students.
