Great Expectations Chapters 1 to 12

Reading: We are learning to explore the background, events and characters of Great Expectations including the language analysis .

Chapters 1-2: Young orphan Pip encounters an escaped convict, Abel Magwitch, in a spooky graveyard and agrees to help him.

Chapters 3-4: Pip steals food and a file for the convict but is filled with guilt and fear.

Chapters 5-6: The authorities capture the convict, and Pip's conscience is burdened by the memory.

Chapters 7-9: Pip is invited to the decaying mansion of Miss Havisham, where he meets the manipulative Estella. Chapters 10-12: Pip learns he has an anonymous benefactor who plans to make him a gentleman, fueling his ambitions and hope for a brighter future.

Genetics and evolution

Heredity as the process by which genetic information is transmitted from one generation to the next
A simple model of chromosomes, genes and DNA in heredity, including the part played by Watson, Crick, Wilkins and Franklin in the development of the DNA model
Differences between species
The variation between individuals within a species being continuous or discontinuous, to include measurement and graphical representation of variation
The variation between species and between individuals of the same species meaning some organisms compete more successfully, which can drive natural selection
Changes in the environment which may leave individuals within a species, and some entire species, less well adapted to compete successfully and reproduce, which in turn may lead to extinction

يبين المعنى الإجماليَّ للآياتِ الكريمةِ.

ISLAMIC B

Exemplars from IGCSE papers were provided to the students.

They analysed these answers to evaluate against the assessment descriptors and the marking scheme.
Eventually they co-constructed a writing criteria that will be used for the year.
Students were introduced to tafseer and using it to understand the verses of the Quran.
They learned how to refelct and analyse the tafseer of Surah Yasin to help understand the meaning of verses 1-6.
They were able to extend this learning into real life sitautions and use this knowledge to solve real life problems.

ART :

Warm up activity: Use direct observational skills to draw and compose a triptych.

P.E :

For YR - 9s, A Qucik overview session on new opportunities for this season for physical and mental growth and learning. This month our PE team workrd on student's BMI.Fitness components Test was done for every students to check on their strength and endurance, cardiovascular fitness, and flexibility.

COMPUTING :

To be able to create a resume for yourself that reflects the next 15 years (ice breaker activity).
To be able to understand the concept of File Handling in Python programming.
To be able to open text files in Python programming.
To be able to read text files in Python programming.

French :

Students are learning:

To introduce themselves by giving details and adjectives
To use verbs "être" et "avoir"

MSC :

Describe the main types of communities and groups in the UAE
Clarify the meaning of the word “community” and the importance of belonging to a community or at least a group
Describe the land, rivers, mountains, and physical geography of Africa
