Reading:

Students will read to enjoy, explore, and analyse the story The Hound Of Baskervilles Examine the societal expectations and roles of characters in the story Engage in comparing the theme of justice in both the stories- The Speckled Band & The Hound of Baskervilles. Understand and analyse the text - The Hound of the Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Explore Doyle’s portrayal of the Setting and atmosphere in the story.

Poetry:

To discuss the theme and subject matter of the poem “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost.

Writing:

Write a diary entry from the perspective of Sherlock Holmes or Dr. John Watson, reflecting on their experiences and deductions. To write a film review on the mystery genre: Agatha Christie’s "Murder on the Orient Express"

Grammar and Punctuation:

Correctly use verb tenses and subject-verb agreement. Correct usage of verb tenses, and comma usage in complex sentences. Effective use of adjectives and adverbs, punctuation with quotation marks.

Algebra:

Substitute integers into expressions.
Construct and solve equations.

Geometry:

Derive and use the formula for the area of a triangle and a parallelogram.
Know and use the formula for the area of a trapezium.
Calculate the area of compound shapes made from rectangles and triangles.
Identify nets of different 3D solids.
Know the properties of 3D solids.
Calculate the surface area of cubes and cuboids.
Calculate the volume of a cube or a cuboid.
Convert between cm3, ml and litres.
Convert between metric measures for area and volume.
Use 2D representations of 3D solids.
Solve problems involving area, surface area and volume.
Solve problems in everyday contexts involving measure.

Electricity

State what is meant by current.
Describe the effect of adding more bulbs to a series circuit.
Describe what the current is like at different points in a series circuit. Construct simple electrical circuits.
Describe how current divides between the branches in a parallel circuit.
Compare series and parallel circuits.
Predict what the currents will be in different parts of series and parallel circuits.
State what is meant by voltage and describe how it is measured.
State what is meant by resistance.
Describe how resistance and current are related.
Describe how certain materials can be given a charge of static electricity.
Describe how the two types of charge affect each other and some of the effects this causes.

ISLAMIC B

Students will learn about the uncertainties and threats that existed in Madinah following the two major battles. They looked at the various internal threats and how the Prophet (SAW) dealt with them.

ART :

To be able to record visual information from a range of culturally relevant Bohemian artists.
Produce a bohemian art with the intention of conveying a particular mood and atmosphere using the principles of design.

P.E :

These months, the PE topic is Athletics. They will be learning the basic skills and rules of running, throwing, and jumping and other Athletic events. This is in preparation for the Annual Sports Day and upcoming inter and intra school competitions.

COMPUTING :

Project activity on Creating Functions.
To be able to use FOR loops within functions.
To be able to use WHILE loops within functions

French :

Students will be learning:

MSC :

To learn about the arrival of the first muslims to china in the 8th century during Tang Dynasty
To learn about life in 18th century China by examining a series of historical paintings about an 18th century Qing dynasty.
To explore Korea during the Joseon Period (1392 CE-1910 CE) and examine the Donggwoldo painting of the main palace complex.
To explore the concepts of danger and risk, and how we can protect ourselves.
