Dear ASPS Parents,
We strongly encourage you to make use of our various online platforms available during the Spring Break. In particular, we highly recommend utilising platforms such as Busy Things in EYFS, Education City, Active Learn Bug Club, Reading Club, Accelerated Reader and any other relevant resources that may be accessible to you.
Consistent engagement with these online tools during the holiday period can greatly benefit your child's educational progress. It is common for students to experience a slight setback in their learning after a long weekend or during a reduced timetable. By encouraging them to stay connected to their studies through these platforms, we can ensure a seamless transition back into the school routine when classes resume.
You may recall that we previously shared the login credentials for these platforms with you via PCode (parent school )email. To locate the login credentials to these platforms, simply search for 'Educational Apps Login Details' in your PCode (parent school email) inbox. Once you have retrieved the email, you will have all the necessary information to log in and explore the available resources with your child.
To secure your child's seat for the next academic year, we kindly request that you complete the re-registration process by paying the re-registration fee of 1000 AED on or before 17th May 2024. This fee is essential to secure your child's seat and is deductible from the first term fees. More details on this can be found in the 'Important Reminders' section below.
If you have any questions about re-registration and school fees, our Admissions and Accounts Team are available to assist you this Spring Break. Our office timings during the Spring Break are:
Monday to Thursday: 7:00 am to 1:00 pm (gates close at 12:30 pm)
from 2nd April: 8:00 am to 1:00 pm (gates close at 12:30 pm)
Friday: 7:00 am to 11:00 am (gates close at 10:30 am)
from 2nd April: 8:00 am to 11:00 am (gates close at 10:30 am)
Please note that the school is closed and our team will be unavailable on announced public holidays during Eid.
Should you require any assistance or have questions, feel free to reach out to us during the specified office hours. We're here to help.
Term 2 Parent-Teacher Meetings will be on Saturday 20th April 2024. You will receive a separate email in your PCode to book your appointments on Tuesday 16th April, 2024
The end of Term 2 reports will be released on Wednesday 17th April 2024, so that you can review this and bring this with you to discuss in the meetings. Please ensure that you login using the PCode (school email address only) to access the Term 2 reports.
Reminders:
Class Teachers in FS - Year 3 have 10 minute appointment slots while Subject Specialist Teachers will have 5 minute slots per family.
We ask parents to be ready at least 5 minutes before their appointment and that the time allotted is adhered to. If you need more time the teacher will schedule a longer meeting at a later date. This will result in a more in depth meeting for conversations that need more time and thought.
Changes in the floor plan for the upcoming Parent-Teacher Meeting:
FS Arabic and Islamic teachers will be in the FS classroom, please check the floor plan for details
Primary and Secondary school Arabic and Islamic Teachers will be in the MPS (not in the gym).
Primary and Secondary Specialist Teachers for English, Maths, Science and MSC will be in the GYM.
You can view the full floor plan here.
All students are welcome to come to school after the Eid holidays in their Eid or party clothes on Monday 15th April. Students may also bring treats to share with their classmates.
Students are allowed to bring and share gifts at the end of the school day. Any sweet treats should be pre-packaged and not consumed in school. This way parents can decide if the food item is appropriate for their child.
Due to the high incidences of allergies connected to them, we are trying hard to be a NUT FREE SCHOOL. Please make sure that treats shared and brought to school do not contain any nuts.
During school-wide events and activities where food is shared in the classroom, such as parties and curriculum events, there is no longer a requirement to individually wrap items. However, homemade food must be accompanied by an ingredient list for allergy and dietary considerations.
These have been included in our school handbook and you can read the full version of our Food Policy here.
Arabic, the language of the Holy Quran, serves as a bridge connecting our past, present, and future generations. The UAE has been steadfast in its efforts to preserve and empower the Arabic language among its children, and here at ASPS, we will continue to solidify this nation's vision. To champion this cause, our Arabic Department has meticulously organised a week of school activities dedicated to celebrating the richness of the Arabic language. Our students engaged in various activities like reading stories, Arabic calligraphy, poems and more, all aimed at celebrating Arabic language and culture.
Thank you for joining our recent community iftar event! It was truly a blessing to share such a wonderful evening with you and your family. The evening provided us with a special opportunity to come together and enjoy each other's company this holy month of Ramadan.
We would like to extend a special thank you to our PALS (Parents of Al Salam) for their invaluable support throughout the event. Your dedication to our school and your unwavering commitment to our community is truly appreciated. Your partnership in organising and facilitating such important school events is what makes our community thrive and we are grateful for your ongoing support.
Thank you once again for being a part of this special evening. We look forward to many more opportunities to come together and celebrate as a community in the future.
The Wellbeing Heroes led an adaptability challenge where students were asked to bring their books in anything but a bag for one day. Winners of 'Anything But a Bag Day Challenge' were announced and certificates were given out this week.
A parent workshop on the topic of Fostering Independence was held on last Wednesday 20th of March. It featured a GAB (Governing Advisory Board) parent panel which led the discussion on how parents can encourage their children to be more independent.
If you missed this session, don't worry! We've recorded the meeting so you can catch up at your convenience. You can watch it here.
The first issue of the Wellbeing Newsletter has been published by the Wellbeing Heroes! Featuring student wow moments, top study tips for students from students and much more, this first issue is a must read for everyone at ASPS!
We are delighted to inform you of the winners of the recent competitions and challenges held in Ramadan Alhamdulilah. The level of participation and enthusiasm displayed by all contestants was impressive and we are grateful for each student’s effort, especially with the additional challenge of having to prepare for their assessments too.
