To safeguard the overall health of our school community and in line with preventive measures for the surveillance of communicable diseases, Dubai schools are now required to report all suspected or confirmed cases to the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).
There are several communicable diseases that we need to identify and notify the DHA about. The most common ones include:
1. Influenza A and B
2. Chickenpox
3. Conjunctivitis
4. COVID-19
5. Typhoid Fever
6. Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease
7. Glandular Fever
8. Hepatitis A, B, and C
9. Impetigo
10. Scabies
If your child falls ill and is diagnosed with any of the above conditions, please inform the school clinic immediately and provide a medical report or diagnosis from the treating physician.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at clinic@alsalamschool.ae.
We would like to remind parents that if a student has any signs of sickness such as coughing, fever or anything that could be considered to be contagious then they should not be sent to school for their assessments.
Should your child become ill in the assessment period, please note of the following:
Parents/legal guardians will be asked to submit a medical report from the doctor, which recommends the leave is needed. Once received we can look into authorising the absence. Students who are absent without a medical note will be given a zero in their examination.
The medical report submitted should be current dated and issued by a medical practitioner from within the country and be provided to the school in a timely manner.
If a student arrives at school and is found to be exhibiting any such symptoms, the student will be sent home without completing their assessments.
Students who have arrived at school and have been sent home by the School Clinic will be classed as a medical absence for the day and the student will be given their overall grade based upon their formative assessments.
Please note that examinations will not be administered in the clinic and we are unable to reschedule assessments.
We are excited to announce a STEM event for students in Years 1-9 on 26th June from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm. This event aims to showcase students' aesthetic ideas and creative innovations while sparking their interest in Science and Technology. Each year group's Science teacher has shared specific topics for the projects.
This event will provide a platform for students to collaborate in groups of 2-3, boosting their confidence, fostering curiosity about Science and Technology and enhancing their scientific knowledge and skills.
Project ideas include:
Investigative-based studies
Indigenous designs of devices and techniques
Applications of basic Science and Technology principles
Innovative and sustainable practices for environmental conservation
