The reports for Year 1 to 9 students will be issued on Thursday 12th October, 2023. Please keep an eye out for the report in your designated PCode (school parent code Gmail).
Please note that this report is not a definitive indication of your child's current attainment, but rather a predictive assessment for the end of the academic year, along with an aspirational achievable target.
This year's reports will feature a change in grades and an updated descriptor. Guidance on these changes will be provided along with the reports to ensure clear understanding. We will also be including your child's attainment in the NGRT external benchmark assessments for students in Years 2 to 9.
We understand that the start and end of the school day can be hectic for parents and finding parking can be a challenge, but it has become apparent that the community is no longer prepared to tolerate unsafe and illegal traffic behaviour.
We kindly ask parents/drivers to:
Not to park in our, or across our neighbours' driveways / building access areas.
Be extra alert and careful when you are driving on the roads near the school.
Park your vehicle safely, even if it is a few steps further away from the school.
Guide your children and/or give them safety instructions to reach the school or your vehicle safely.
Be a role model for road safety to your children, especially around schools.
Engage with the school administration if you have improvement proposals for the school. We should emphasise we do not control the roads around the school and cannot physically direct cars. This is the sole responsibility of all road users.
This year's theme for World Mental Health Day is "Mental Health is a Universal Human Right." On the 10th of October, we will be joining the global movement to break the stigma around mental health and engage in meaningful conversations on this very important topic.
On Tuesday, 10th October, we encourage all ASPS students and staff to add a touch of green to their uniform—a bracelet, scarf, headband, ribbon or wristband—all in the spirit of World Mental Health Awareness. This small gesture speaks volumes and helps us stand together in support.
There will be special assemblies and activities centered around mental health. These sessions aim to foster understanding, empathy and awareness among our students.
For our youngest learners in FS and KS1, we have a special "Show and Tell - The Calm Box" activity planned. On the same day, 10th October, students are invited to bring in something they would include in their Calm Box—this could be an item that helps them self-calm, it can be a particular hobby they enjoy or anything that makes them feel happy. During this session, we will explore different methods of self-care and emotional regulation to promote a sense of calm.
We look forward to engaging with our students in these valuable discussions and activities.
If you as the parent struggle to get conversations around mental health started with your children, here is a handy guide to help get the ball rolling: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1H2uUW8dyVx3EKqIn_V0thljDIdASfl4K/view?usp=sharing
We are pleased to share a new initiative aimed at providing support for students of determination at ASPS. The ASPS Parent Support Group is designed to ensure that parents are well-equipped and informed about their child’s unique needs and interventions.
The primary objective of this support group is to create a safe space for parents to discuss their concerns and ensure quality provision for the students of determination at home and school by promoting awareness and knowledge around inclusion.
For the initial session, which will be on Monday 9th October, participation will be by invitation only. This ensures that we can focus on providing tailored support from this initiative.
Should you have any immediate questions or concerns, your can reach out to our Head of Inclusion, Ms Reena Bisht at r.bisht@alsalamschool.ae
Understanding and appreciating the life of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is a vital part of Islamic education. It forms the basis for conversations with students about our Messenger and encourages them to adopt his values and follow his example. We're committed to encouraging creativity and innovation in students, as it leads to more engaging and effective learning experiences.
To bring this to life, we will be having an Islamic Exhibition where students from Year 4-9 will showcase their projects based on stories from the Prophet's life. These projects will connect the lessons from his life to real-world situations. The top three projects from each year level will be chosen to receive the Young Innovator and Creator Award.
The Al Islami Exhibition is scheduled for 11th and 12th in the MPH. We are excited to see the creativity and learning that will come from this event and parents are welcome to visit the exhibition from 2:30-3:30 pm.

Our primary school students have been actively engaged in a sustainability project, focusing on decorating recycle bins. Their creative efforts not only promote responsible waste management but also add a touch of artistic flair to our environment. Well done to all the students!
In Secondary School, students have demonstrated remarkable innovation by repurposing collected plastic bottles into vibrant holders for hanging plants. This ingenious project not only showcases their commitment to sustainability but also enhances the aesthetics of our surroundings. Kudos to our secondary school students!
PALS recently hosted a Meet & Greet event that was nothing short of spectacular. The turnout was fantastic and it's clear that the spirit of community at Al Salam is stronger than ever.
What's truly remarkable is that after the event, PALS took the time to express their appreciation for our incredible support staff in the Operations Department. These hardworking individuals work tirelessly behind the scenes in making the Meet & Greet a resounding success and their efforts were duly recognised.
But wait, there's more! On Teacher's Day, PALS went above and beyond by surprising our staff with thoughtful gifts. This gesture touched the hearts of many in our school community and served as a beautiful reminder of the strong bond between our parents, teachers and students.
Special thanks should also be extended to Ms. Nibal, our Head of Engagement, for her exceptional work in bringing PALS together. Her dedication is an example of the collaborative spirit that defines our Al Salam community.
Just a reminder that our book drive will continue until the end of the month, so there's still time to contribute if you haven't had the chance yet. Every book counts, and together, we're making a difference!
