As outlined in the KHDA Parent-School Contract, it is a requirement that all outstanding fees for Term 1 are cleared before your child can attend school. We kindly request your prompt attention to this matter to ensure a smooth start to the academic year.
We kindly ask for your cooperation in planning accordingly. Please refrain from arriving at the school with your child, expecting them to join on the same day after paying the fees. Once the fee payment is successfully completed, please be aware that our school requires a minimum of 2 working days to finalise the allocation of students to their respective classrooms.
Why is this timeline necessary?
Allocating a reasonable timeframe enables our team to manage a range of tasks related to student allocation, class organisation and digital integration. The 2-day period allows us to effectively communicate this information to parents, ensuring that they are well-informed and prepared for their child's placement.
This advance notice is important to ensure a seamless transition for your child into their new classroom environment.
We kindly ask for your understanding in this matter. It is important to note that your student may not be allocated a class and may not be able to join on the same day that the payment is made.
Our school office at ASPS will be open on two Sundays, 20th and August 27th from 9:30am to 12:30 pm, specifically for school fees payment.
We understand that busy schedules can sometimes make it challenging to visit during regular weekdays, so we hope these additional days will provide more flexibility for you.
To ensure that your child is allocated to a classroom without any delays, we strongly recommend that you make the payment for Term 1 fees, if you have not already, by the end of the school day on Tuesday, 22nd August.
Should you have any questions or require further clarification on the fees schedule, please email accounts@alslamschool.ae.
To ease students back to school we have arranged a staggered start to the school year. This allows students to settle into school routines calmly with the full attention of their teachers and other adults.
Nursery, FS1 and FS2 students will join their class in small groups each day. This means that each day the teacher will welcome approximately 5 new students, allowing them time to get to know your child and interact with them. The staggered start is also intended to allow parents to meet the teacher during drop off on their child’s first day.
All parents of Nursery and FS1-2 students who have paid Term 1 fees will be contacted by the class teacher, by Monday 21st August, to advise the joining date of their child and to get some additional information about the child.
The class teacher will be stationed in the classroom to welcome you and your child on their first day.
Year 1 to 9 students will stagger the first week of school by year group, as shown below. Parents of Year 1 to 9 students who have paid Term 1 fees will receive a communication from the Form Tutors by Monday 21 August, introducing themselves, their class name and some additional information that will be useful before the academic year starts.

All Students are expected to be in school at 7:40 am. Registration begins at 7:45 am and students are marked 'Late' when the school gates close and a late pass is issued by the duty supervisor.
In the interest of safeguarding we ensure that students who are dropped before official gate opening time at 7:20am are kept safe. From 7am our security guards will direct students to an area where they are provided with basic supervision from our school helpers.
Some of our little learners have some of their most momentous 'first days' approaching. These can be daunting for students and parents alike therefore we aim to make these as comfortable as possible. For toddlers joining Salam Nursery in the 2-3 year old class (not FS1) and our former FS2s who are now joining 'big school' / Primary School, we would like to invite you to visit us on Friday 25th August to find your classroom, meet the teacher, and get to know more about the year ahead.
New Students and New Parents of Year 2-9 are invited to join us before the academic year gets underway. We hope that this will make the first day of school more comfortable and familiar for the students. They will get to meet their form tutor and seeing where their classroom is and learn more about their new school before they get to meet their new friends! This promises to be an insightful and engaging event, and we look forward to welcoming you on Friday, August 25th.
Our aim for this orientation is to introduce you to our dedicated teaching staff, provide an opportunity to meet our School Leaders and offer an in-depth understanding of the facilities, policies and academic guidelines that shape our educational environment here at ASPS.
The event details and schedule will be sent to you via a separate email, so please keep an eye on your inbox. Be sure to mark 25th August on your calendar as a day of discovery and connection.
There will be no change to the uniform style or colour scheme for the new academic year. Therefore, students can continue to wear their existing uniform if they wish. Please note that whilst existing uniforms can be worn, we kindly remind you to ensure that they meet the school's uniform requirements. Uniform items should be clean, in good condition and appropriately sized for your child.
FS1 to Year 2- Standard school issued PE uniform (white dry fit polo shirt with red collar) and black track pants should be worn.
Year 3 to Year 9 wear a PE shirt reflecting the colour of the House they have been assigned to (Red, Yellow, Green and Blue). PE shirts will be purchased in accordance with the House designated to the child. Year 3 and new students will be assigned a House on their first day of school and all our current students remain in their previous House.
Year 3 parents are urged not to purchase a white PE shirt as each child will be assigned a House upon commencing school.
Shoes - These should be plain black, with no additional colour, whether this be a small / feint, white or grey stripe for example, this type of footwear is not allowed.
PE Shoes should be white or black only.
The socks should be white.
Regular School Day Shoes
PE Shoes
Al Salam School grey school jackets are also available for purchase from the school. Parents may visit the school during school hours to check the jacket sizes.
Please note that only the official school jackets are permitted to be worn within the school premises. Our official school grey jackets are available for purchase directly from the school. The ASPS pullovers are available in the Sumeru store.
A friendly reminder: Please ensure to write your child's name on their school jacket. With so many similar items at school, jackets can easily get misplaced or lost. However, when a name is clearly labelled, lost items can be returned to their owner. Taking this small step can save you from the inconvenience of replacing a lost jacket.
Uniforms from our previous supplier are available for purchase at discounted prices!
These ASPS discounted uniforms can be purchased from the school's front office from Sunday 20th August, 9:30 am -12:30 pm and from Monday 21st August, 8:00 am- 2:00 pm.
You can find the list of items with sizes available for purchase here. We recommend purchasing these whilst stocks last.
Terms & conditions applied:To understand the full uniform expectations at ASPS (including a shopping guide), please refer to the complete uniform catalogue as shown below.
Thank you for supporting us by making sure that your child is dressed appropriately for school every day.
Some of the bags students bring to school now are way too big and heavy. If a student has a large bag, they feel they need to fill it, this should not be the case. Our students should be bringing to school only minimal items, a water bottle (every day), lunch box, reading books, pencil case and a device for our Year 3 and above students.
Please ensure any devices brought into school from August 2023 are Chromebooks only, no other devices will be allowed in school. These Chromebooks should be purchased directly from school (old Chromebook with a license already installed will be permitted).
More information and instructions can be found on the Al Salam Schools Digital Learning website: https://sites.google.com/alsalamcommunity.ae/al-salam-digital-learning/
Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to your child's education.
We would like to remind parents about our policy on photo/video taken in school.
School events, classroom activities, special programmes and students' accomplishments are sometimes photographed or video recorded by school representatives to post on newsletters, website, social media and other channels deemed appropriate and safe by Al Salam Private School & Nursery or other school communication purposes.
Parental photo consent at Al Salam Private School is an opt out process. If you DO NOT give permission for video/photos/images that include your child/children to be published on the school’s website, newsletter, or other social media outlets and publications please notify us by completing the form below before Thursday 24th August 2023.
Whilst we do not encourage students to walk back and forth from school alone, we do understand there is sometimes the need to do so.
For Year 6, 7, 8 and 9, we believe that you as parents need to decide whether your child is ready for the responsibility of walking to and from school alone. Please be advised that no student will be allowed to walk home without prior consent from a parent or guardian. The school will not issue a walk home pass to students in Year 5 and below.
Our agreed school policy is that no student in Foundation Stage or Key Stage 1 (Years 1-2) should walk to or from school on his or her own or be left on their own on the school premises either before or after school. In addition, we will only hand over students from Year 3 and above to older siblings provided they are in Year 6 or above (the oldest student must be in Year 6 and they cannot take a sibling in FS1 / FS2 / Year 1-2. However, if the professional judgement of the adult at school deems the older sibling is not to be suitable, they will not hand the student over).
Students who have been issued a walk home ID should wear their walk home pass when walking to or from school and will not be allowed to walk home from school without their ID. Parents will be contacted by the school to collect their child if the student lost their ID.
Parents of new and returning students will have to give their permission and apply for a pass for their child to walk home alone every school year. Returning students may use the same issued walk home ID. Please note that a replacement for lost ID will cost 50 AED.
If you would like to give permission for your child to walk home alone, please click here to submit a request.
If you wish to register your child/children to use the school bus, please register through our online form below. Registration will be accepted on a first come first serve basis.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us or email our Transport Service Department on transport@alsalamschool.ae
Bus Fees and School Bus Guidelines (Terms & Conditions) are included in the form.
We ask all parents who have yet not applied to do so and collect their ID cards from our Front Office.
Each family can apply up to two (2) Parent ID Cards (typically, Mother, Father, Nanny and Driver or other nominated family members such as Aunt or Uncle) at no cost. If your family has a care provider or another person assigned to come into the school to collect your child, they should have a Parent ID Card.
To help ensure the safety of students and staff, we ask parents to wear their Parent ID badge. Visitor identification is mandatory and visitors, including parents and staff, are issued a clearly visible ID badge to be worn at all times when they are on school premises.
If you have applied for your parent ID kindly contact our Front Office for collection.
Replacement ID (Lost parent ID):
For parents/guardians who have applied and collected their Parent IDs, please note that additional or replacement ID will cost 50 AED per ID.
We are excited to share a sneak peek of our next issue! In our upcoming communication, we will be providing more comprehensive guidelines on drop-off and pick-up procedures. This insight will help you prepare and plan effectively for the beginning of the academic year.
