Extension of lead positions in student council to contribute in different areas of interest.
Students in Secondary are leading ASAs for other students in their areas of interest or expertise.
Students and parents were surveyed at the beginning of the term to ask what kind of talents and interests we should cater to. As a result of the feedback we added 6 new choices to our ASA offering.
You said: Cleanliness especially the washrooms and gym
We did:
Our ‘older’ bathrooms on the ground and first floor have been renovated and re-tiled.
Full cleanliness monitoring schedule was reviewed and is carried out by our Operations Manager and Operations Assistant.
You said: Practice writing- improve handwriting skill
We did:
Writing session starting during Form Tutor time for Secondary.
The Handwriting Policy applies to students and all staff, with the expectation that all teachers, not just English teachers, will model proper handwriting.
Year 1-2 have already begun handwriting lessons as part of their spelling and writing curriculum. In Key Stage 2, handwriting is integral to spelling and writing classes, though not all students are expected to have mastered joint writing due to potential missed prerequisites.
For Key Stage 2 students, the focus will be on:
Completing all work in all books to a very high standard of presentation.
Placing ascenders and descenders correctly on the lines.
Writing automatically without the need to think about letter formation.
Maintaining consistent letter size and spacing.
You said: Communication parents-school (parents-teachers, addressing parent concerns)
We did:
A call log from reception has been established to ensure all phone calls to school are logged and parents receive a response from the appropriate department and personnel. Flowchart for addressing concerns can be found here
More regular incidental communication is starting to be embedded and has started with teachers contacting students with significant achievements and parents of those students we will be offering more support to.
You said: Feedback from teachers on assessments
We did:
Teachers have called some parents on the performance of students in unit tests. Students who have done well are also informed.
Parents of any students showing less than expected progress by midterm are invited to a meeting and put on an intervention plan.
Parents can now track their child’s progress in pop-quizes, post unit tests and weekly assessments (such as spelling and mental Maths) via Google Classroom. This helps parents keep a track of their child’s progress
You said: Parent engagement sessions in person
We did:
Implemented a comprehensive onboarding process for new students, including orientations for Salam Nursery and Year 1, along with engaging events for students and families to meet their teachers.
All sessions this year have been in person. A Parent Engagement Presentation Bank is now uploaded to the Parent Hub for those who were unable to attend informative sessions.
Clear guidance given to parents on how to understand external benchmark examinations and how to support their child accordingly. Subject specific approach and homework policy and need also discussed.
You said: Monitor behaviour of students on the bus

The KHDA conducts annual surveys to understand parents’/guardians perspectives and experiences of schooling in Dubai. Results of the survey are used to inform quality assurance visits, guide education policy and ultimately improve students’ learning outcomes.
We invite you to participate in the KHDA Parents’ Survey, which is completely anonymous. It includes questions about the quality of teaching and learning at ASPS, wellbeing within the school environment, and your general satisfaction with our school. The result from this survey will also be shared with us to continue to provide a safe and healthy learning environment for our students in ASPS.
Thank you for your support.
The first round of end-of-cycle assessments is scheduled to start on 17th November, spanning a duration of eight days. These assessments will be conducted during the regular school day, ensuring suitable testing conditions. Please note that the remainder of the school day will proceed as usual, following our regular school day schedule for continued teaching and learning.
We will be sending out the home revision pack along with the exam schedule to your parent code (PCODE) email address by Tuesday 7th November, 2023.

The Dubai Fitness Challenge has hit the ground running at ASPS this week, igniting a surge of enthusiasm among both students and staff. The campus has been abuzz with activities. From early morning Zumba sessions to friendly basketball matches during breaks, the enthusiasm for physical fitness is contagious.
In an era dominated by technology, it is important for students to not only be proficient in using digital tools but also to understand the responsibilities and ethical considerations that come with it. Recognising this need, our student body took the initiative to present a dynamic assembly focused on Digital Literacy and Citizenship, aiming to equip their peers with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the digital world responsibly.
For parents/guardians who were unable to attend our Coffee Mornings/Parent Engagement Sessions and for those who wish to revisit the presentations for a more in-depth understanding, we are pleased to introduce the Parent Engagement Session Presentation Bank.
