Psst! We're moving!
The Foreign Languages Department had more female students, but Tang Yin quickly gained fame nonetheless.
Perhaps it was her boldness or the stories surrounding the basketball team—regardless, even within the circle of girls, she had amassed a considerable number of admirers. When playing basketball, there were always girls sneaking water bottles to her.
Some even secretly watched her from afar.
And in the medical school, she became an outright sensation.
After entering university, Lu Chi stopped wearing glasses and naturally earned the title of the Medical School’s most handsome guy. There were crowds of onlookers, girls dreaming of dating him…
But what everyone ended up seeing was this: after class, the two would kiss in an empty classroom, and someone secretly took photos, posting them to the forum.
This revelation also dredged up their high school escapades. Some people even went to Jiashui Private School’s online forums, sharing old videos.
“I never thought high school could be like this… I must’ve attended a fake high school, a fake institution!”
“Now that I think about it, they’re actually quite low-key these days, haha. Who would’ve guessed they did such earth-shattering things back then? I suddenly want to stan them.”
“After watching the video, I thought, if I were Lu Chi, I’d fall for Tang Yin too. The way she went after him… how could anyone resist?”
“I want to see their love story every day, feeding me secondhand embarrassment… This is true romance. My boyfriend is trash—I’m dumping him!”
“Can I say that being in the same classroom as Lu Chi feels like being surrounded by pink bubbles every day…? I want to swap my boyfriend for Tang Yin. She’s so good at flirting.”
In no time, the couple Tang Yin and Lu Chi became wildly popular at S University.
In the second semester of their sophomore year, Zhang Yuan and Lin Lu were preparing to leave the basketball team due to graduation and internships. As such, the team organized a farewell party.
Bringing partners along was allowed.
As Lin Lu put it: “Your doctor boyfriend has his eyes glued to you all the time. Of course, we have to invite him. Otherwise, who knows what he might do to us when we get back tonight.”
The pairing of the “flower” of the Foreign Languages Department and the “grass” of the Medical School was now widely known, and they were often stopped for photos while walking around campus.
Tang Yin simply asked, “Are you all bringing your partners?”
Lin Lu replied, “Of course! They should come to see us off. After all, they’ve been watching our games every time.”
Since the team was mostly made up of girls, boyfriends naturally couldn’t miss out on the games. Thus, everyone knew each other well—even the boys were familiar enough to play cards together.
Tang Yin nodded: “I’ll ask him. If he’s free, he’ll come.”
Zhang Yuan smiled and said, “We know how busy he is. It’s fine if he can’t make it.”
They understood how demanding medical studies were. Even Tang Yin had to seek Lu Chi out whenever she wanted to see him, usually finding him in a classroom or laboratory.
Still, their relationship, despite its lack of arguments, left others envious. At first, people thought small squabbles were a sign of true affection, but Tang Yin and Lu Chi proved that a lifelong partnership didn’t require constant bickering.
Lu Chi always indulged Tang Yin.
Thinking about it made others jealous.
Upon returning from practice, Tang Yin sent Lu Chi a message: “There’s a farewell party tonight. Do you want to come?”
He didn’t reply.
Frowning slightly, Tang Yin wondered if he was in the lab. Lately, Lu Chi spent increasingly long hours in the lab. His professors adored him and often kept him after class.
The sun hadn’t yet set.
During the break, there were few students around the Medical School—just a sparse scattering here and there. Tang Yin headed directly to the floor where the lab was located.
Sure enough, she spotted Lu Chi.
Inside the lab was an older professor, specially rehired for his expertise. Every time Tang Yin attended his lectures, she was called upon to answer questions…
At first, she managed to respond correctly, but later, she relied entirely on Lu Chi for answers.
The professor packed up his things and reminded Lu Chi: “After you’ve finished tidying up, leave the keys in my locker. I’ll need them tomorrow.”
Lu Chi replied, “Alright, Professor. Take care.”
Standing at the door, Tang Yin greeted him as well: “Take care, Professor.”
The professor chuckled and said to her, “Little one, are you here looking for Lu Chi again? Did I let class run late again?”
Tang Yin dared not agree: “No, no.”
Once the professor left, she immediately entered the lab. Lu Chi was the only one inside, with tools scattered across the table waiting to be cleaned.
Lu Chi glanced back and said, “Wait a bit longer.”
He had to finish everything before leaving. The professor trusted him with the task, so he couldn’t afford to be careless, though his movements were quick and efficient.
Lu Chi wore a pristine white lab coat. His hands, peeking out from the sleeves, were long, fair, and elegantly shaped, utterly captivating.
Tang Yin found herself entranced. She licked her lips and said, “I sent you a message, but you didn’t reply, so I came straight here.”
Lu Chi paused for a moment and said, “I’ll hurry.”
His earnest tone made Tang Yin smile. “Why are you in such a rush? I’m not in a hurry. Just take your time cleaning up.”
The lab was filled with specimens, giving Tang Yin the creeps. She didn’t know how some classes held at night were even bearable.
There were countless ghost stories based on the Medical School.
By the time everything was packed up, the sun had disappeared, leaving only faint streaks of clouds painting the sky a fiery red.
Walking beside her, Lu Chi said, “Let me walk you back.”
Tang Yin looped her arm through his. “I came to find you. Why would you walk me back? Tonight’s the captain’s farewell party, and everyone’s bringing their boyfriends. So if you’re free, come along.”
By the time she finished speaking, Lu Chi had already nodded: “Alright.”
Tang Yin immediately leaned in to give him a quick peck.
At eight o’clock in the evening, the two arrived at the KTV entrance.
They had initially planned to eat dinner elsewhere but decided to order food to the private room instead. Singing karaoke while eating barbecue seemed much more relaxing.
Tang Yin reminded him: “You’re not allowed to drink alcohol tonight.”
Lu Chi hesitated for a moment and asked, “What happens if I drink?”
She had never answered this question before. Each time he asked, she remained silent, leaving him clueless to this day.
Tang Yin drew out her words meaningfully: “You’ll find out later. But tonight, absolutely no drinking.”
Lu Chi opened his mouth to protest but ultimately said, “Alright.”
He always listened to her.
The private room was already bustling with people. A group of boys sat together playing cards and drinking, accompanied by peanuts. Meanwhile, the girls occupied the microphones, singing their hearts out.
The room reverberated with songs and whistles, lights dimmed to create an intimate atmosphere. For a moment, Lu Chi couldn’t clearly see who was who.
Zhang Yuan emerged from the crowd and pulled Tang Yin aside: “The lovebirds are here! Come on, let Lu Chi join the guys, and you come sing with us.”
From inside, Lin Lu’s loud voice boomed: “Tang Yin’s here! Come on, sing something wild! If you don’t go wild, you’re not human!”
The girls erupted into cheers.
Lu Chi released her hand and whispered in her ear: “Go ahead.”
Tang Yin twitched her ears slightly and obediently nodded, reminding him: “Be careful… no drinking.”
Zhang Yuan tugged her away. “Stop whispering sweet nothings. Hurry up! Lu Chi, join the boys—they’re playing cards.”
Lin Lu was already tipsy, her tolerance for alcohol low. She was shouting and singing loudly, thoroughly excited.
Tang Yin occasionally took a sip of her drink but mostly listened to the girls sing.
After a while, Zhang Yuan finally relinquished the microphone and squeezed onto the couch, saying, “There’s still one more person coming.”
Tang Yin glanced around. Everyone from the team was already here. Who else could it be?
“Fang Minghe and that little rascal,” Lin Lu shouted. “This time, we won’t let him leave until he bleeds dry. Look at how badly they beat us last time—it infuriates me!”
Not long ago, they had played a practice match against Fang Minghe’s team and suffered a humiliating defeat. The boys’ stamina far exceeded theirs, and their height gave them an advantage.
Zhang Yuan chimed in: “Let’s bleed him dry. Make him drink a few rounds.”
Just as she finished speaking, the door to the private room swung open, revealing Fang Minghe’s tall, sunny figure.
Lu Chi, sitting directly opposite, narrowed his eyes slightly, his mood plummeting.
Fang Minghe scanned the room, locking eyes with Lu Chi for a brief moment before smiling lightly. “Everyone’s here? Only I’m missing?”
Zhang Yuan retorted, “How dare you show your face.”
Fang Minghe wasn’t fazed. He casually grabbed a clean glass from the boys’ table. “I’ll self-punish with three shots, alright?”
With that, he downed three small glasses in quick succession.
The room’s atmosphere instantly soared to a fever pitch, save for Lu Chi, who sat quietly in the corner, silently observing.
Tang Yin pursed her lips slightly. She wasn’t particularly fond of this senior from the neighboring school—he sometimes struck her as odd.
Once everyone had arrived, they rearranged the seating. Tang Yin naturally sat next to Lu Chi, while the table was laden with barbecue takeout.
Fang Minghe sat across from them, quickly striking up conversations with those around him.
Lu Chi’s interest was tepid. By nature, he was a quiet person, and among the boys seated nearby, he only shared passing acquaintanceship—mere nods of recognition.
Tang Yin whispered softly, “Let’s not come next time.”
Forcing him to attend only ended up making her feel sorry for him—it was torture for both of them.
Lu Chi’s eyes flickered toward Fang Minghe, who was glancing their way. Lowering his gaze slightly, he murmured, “Alright.”
Under the table, Tang Yin intertwined her fingers with his, their hands playfully entwining without being disturbed by Lin Lu’s wild antics.
After a while, she suddenly said, “Do you know what you said last time you got drunk? Are you curious?”
Overexcited, someone accidentally dropped their chopsticks.
Fang Minghe declined another drink offered by someone nearby and bent down to pick them up. As expected, he caught sight of their entwined hands but acted nonchalant as he stood up to continue eating.
Someone nearby asked, “Why so quiet? Come on, drink up!”
Fang Minghe’s gaze swept over the conspicuously affectionate couple, feeling his eyes nearly burn out. Their behavior matched exactly what was described on their school forum—incessantly lovey-dovey.
Lu Chi placed a piece of eggplant in Tang Yin’s bowl, humming softly as he asked, “What did I say?”
He was genuinely curious.
Tang Yin leaned closer to his neck, raising her voice slightly over the background music. She wasn’t afraid of being overheard.
She said, “I really, really like you.”
At that exact moment, the song transitioned.
The room fell silent.
The sharp-eared crowd collectively turned their heads to look at the couple, stunned for several moments until the music resumed.
Even Lu Chi was momentarily taken aback. Had he really said that? But now wasn’t the time to dwell on it.
Seeing everyone staring at them, he simply wrapped his arm around Tang Yin’s waist, his lips curling into a faint smile as he murmured, “I know.”
To everyone else, this was textbook public display of affection.
Zhang Yuan broke the silence first: “Ahem, Tang Yin, must you confess in front of us? Are you trying to rub it in that I can’t say things like that?”
Lin Lu, still somewhat inebriated, slurred, “What did I just hear? Tang Yin, how could you say something so mushy in front of us? You owe us a drink!”
She clumsily grabbed an empty glass.
Others joined in the teasing.
Lu Chi’s grip on her wrist tightened slightly. His ink-black eyes locked onto hers, seductive and mesmerizing, with a slight lift at the corners, accentuated by the dim lighting.
Only then did Tang Yin realize her slip-up. Sheepishly, she followed up with, “…Uh, I’m sorry… I shouldn’t have said something so cheesy…”
She pinched the palm of Lu Chi’s hand.
Shameless. Those were his words, not hers. How had they ended up attributed to her?
