Psst! We're moving!
Fu Jichen also saw the message in the family group chat. He was still at the company, waiting for Qiao Han to finish the final round of debugging on the robot. Once it was done, he planned to take it home as a gift for Yu Qing.
This was a chatbot specifically customized for Yu Qing, doubling as an assistant to manage her walk-in closet.
Qiao Han could be considered redeeming himself. Perhaps his conscience had gotten the better of him regarding the previous anonymous investment incident—he felt guilty about it.
Over the past two months, Qiao Han had given up his amateur racing time, canceled all entertainment activities, and worked tirelessly with his team day and night on development.
Previously, when Yu Qing handled the NewTech matter, she didn’t make things difficult for Qiao Han.
She had told him that if properly guided, Qiao Han could be an invaluable talent.
Today, Pan, the secretary, had also come to work overtime. Out of the 365 days in a year, he was either working or pulling overtime. His daughter had gone to a classmate’s birthday party today, so with nothing to do at home, he came straight to the office.
He brought the draft cooperation agreement with Pang Linbin’s company for the boss to review, checking if any details needed adjustment.
After more than two months, the collaboration was finally finalized.
“Mr. Pang’s secretary mentioned that Mr. Pang might visit Beijing soon and stay for a while.”
Fu Jichen nodded. “Alright, I’ll personally host him when he arrives.”
As he reviewed the agreement, he suddenly looked up and casually asked Secretary Pan, “Tomorrow is Children’s Day—didn’t you celebrate early with your daughter?”
Pan first thanked his boss for remembering, then explained, “My daughter went out to play with her classmates.”
Fu Jichen gave an indifferent “Oh,” seemingly casual, but pressed further: “What was the first gift you prepared for your daughter?”
He emphasized: “The one you gave her when she was born.”
Pan was puzzled why his boss was asking such specific details, even trivial ones. “I don’t remember preparing any gift—I was just eagerly waiting for her to be born.”
Fu Jischen: “Then I need to think about what birth gift to prepare for our child. Right now, they’re eighteen weeks and two days old.”
Pan was utterly shocked, astounded that Yu Qing and the boss had a child together. More surprisingly, despite having a child, during the earlier public opinion battle, neither side had given an inch.
He was also deeply moved that the boss remembered so clearly how far along the fetus was.
Even though Pan had long been a father, he didn’t know exactly how many weeks a child stayed in the mother’s womb before birth.
He also forgot the due date for his own daughter—it must have been several days earlier.
After a long moment, Pan finally remembered to congratulate his boss.
Fu Jichen: “Thank you. In the coming months, I’ll be working less overtime than before. It’ll be tough on you and the team.”
Pan: “You’re too kind—it’s our duty. It’s part of our job.”
The internal line rang. Fu Jichen picked up—it was Qiao Han, who had arrived on the executive floor. He told the secretary, “Let him come in directly.”
Pan took the documents and returned to his office.
Soon, Qiao Han and a few workers entered.
The robot was packed in a large cardboard box, carried by two people.
Fu Jichen set aside his work, full of anticipation, wondering if it would surprise Yu Qing.
The robot was 155 cm tall, chubby, with extendable arms designed specifically to organize the top shelves of the walk-in closet, making it easy to retrieve and store items.
Qiao Han activated the robot. “Go say hello to Mr. Fu Jichen.”
The blue-and-white robot scanned the room, equipped with facial recognition. It clumsily walked over to Fu Jichen. “Mr. Fu, hello. Yu Qing loves you very much.”
Fu Jichen: “...”
This was actually pretty good.
“Hello, what’s your name?”
Robot: “A not-so-fashionable name: Yujiale.”
Fu Jichen turned to look at Qiao Han. “Are you sure you’re not scamming me?”
Qiao Han handed over the user manual. “I’ve already changed the name once—it used to be ‘Fishing Net.’”
Fu Jichen: “...”

As dusk fell, the Yu family courtyard began to buzz with activity.
Yu Jingze was grilling squid, but he wasn’t quite mastering the heat, and it got burnt.
Yu Qing, munching on a perfectly grilled skewer made by the chef, strolled leisurely over to him. “You weren’t at the office this afternoon.” Her tone was definitive.
Yu Jingze glanced at her. “Why don’t you become Sherlock Holmes?”
Still savoring her food, Yu Qing leaned closer, lowering her voice. “I’ve already solved the case.”
Yu Jingze handed her the burnt skewer. “It’s my first time barbecuing.”
Yu Qing wrinkled her nose, refusing to take it. “You eat it yourself.” She nudged him with her elbow. “Don’t change the subject. What were you doing this afternoon?”
Instead of answering, Yu Jingze countered, “Didn’t you say you’ve already solved the case?”
Yu Qing: “Were you with Zhou Siyuan?”
“Mm.” Yu Jingze ate the rejected squid skewer. “She called me to discuss something related to the bank’s interests, so I went over to talk for a bit.”
Yu Qing had never asked him where he went or who he was with before.
“When did you become so nosy?”
“Ever since I reunited with Li Yanzhuo, I’ve been this nosy.”
At the mention of Li Yanzhuo, Yu Jingze spoke seriously. “For the sake of prenatal education, you should spend less time with him. That guy only knows how to sow discord.”
Yu Qing: “...”
A car entered the courtyard. Yu Qing glanced over, thinking it was Fu Jichen, but it turned out to be a delivery truck. “What did we buy for the house?”
Everyone knew it was the robot except Yu Qing, who was kept in the dark.
Yu Jingze: “The housekeeper bought a refrigerator.”
Yu Qing stopped paying attention and turned away.
Over at the parking lot, Ji Qingyuan was still washing cars.
He had returned early in the afternoon and had already washed three out of the two rows of cars.
The baby loved playing with water. Holding a small water gun, he sprayed it at the car, believing he was helping his dad. He felt incredibly accomplished.
Yu Shaohong had also grilled several skewers, placing them on a plate and handing them to Yu Jingxin. “These are for you and Qingyuan. Even if they don’t taste good, eat them with your eyes closed—but praise them with your eyes open.”
Suddenly, Yu Jingxin hesitated to take a bite. She took the plate and went to find Ji Qingyuan. “Why did you suddenly decide to wash the family cars?”
Ji Qingyuan didn’t tell the truth. “Just doing something within my ability.”
Yu Jingxin held up a skewer of unknown meat—beef or lamb—and offered it to Ji Qingyuan. “Be careful—it’s hot.”
Ji Qingyuan was overwhelmed with gratitude. Instead of eating the skewer, he turned his head and kissed her lips. The water gun in his hand accidentally tilted, spraying water onto the car and splashing back onto the baby’s face.
The baby shivered momentarily, realized it was water, and burst into laughter.
He wanted to wipe his face, but one hand held a teething biscuit, and the other clutched a tiny water gun.
He stuffed the biscuit into his mouth, cheeks bulging.
Freeing one hand, he quickly wiped his face, removing the water.
At this moment, Fu Jichen’s car arrived.
Yu Jingxin and Ji Qingyuan’s kiss had just ended.
Seeing Fu Jichen, the baby instinctively didn’t want to practice speaking anymore. He turned to run away.
Fu Jichen called after him, “Baby, where are you running off to?”
The baby panicked. Already unsteady on his feet, he tripped over himself and fell onto the grass.
Fu Jichen strode over and scooped him up into his arms.
The baby choked slightly on the biscuit and started hiccupping.
Each time he hiccupped, his eyes blinked in sync.
Fu Jichen chuckled, lifting him up and placing him on his shoulders.
By now, Yu Qing was seated at the long table on the waterside platform, surrounded by abundant food.
Fu Jichen brought the baby over. Seeing his savior, the baby flapped his arms like a butterfly, wanting Yu Qing to hold him.
Fu Jichen: “Your aunt can’t hold you right now. You’ll have to wait a few more months.”
“Mommy, Mommy.”
Yu Jingxin came over and took the child.
The baby clung tightly to her neck, nuzzling against her.
Fu Jichen held Yu Qing’s hand. “Come on, let’s go see your gift.”
“What’s the surprise?”
“You’ll see when we get there.”
On the second floor, Yu Qing couldn’t wait to open her surprise. She thought it would be perfume or a bag.
When the walk-in closet door opened, she froze.
A cute and clumsy robot was organizing the bag cabinet. It turned its face, recognized her, and said, “Little Fish, hello. I’m the new member of the family. My name is Yujiale. I have an excellent memory and can remember everything you say. Both Fu Jichen and I will always be with you.”
Yu Qing looked at Fu Jichen, her gaze focused.
After a long moment,
She hugged him. “Thank you, my Mr. Fu.”
Since childhood, whenever she wanted a gift, her family would give her money to buy it herself.
Yu Qing began playing with the robot, unfamiliar with many of its functions for now.
The robot started talking again. “Little Fish, Fu Jichen loves you very much. If you marry him, you’ll be the happiest woman.”
Yu Qing tapped its head. “Did Fu Jichen tell you to say that?”
“I don’t understand what you’re saying.”
“...”
Fu Jichen quickly put the robot into sleep mode. It hadn’t even settled in yet and was already speaking on his behalf.
Yu Qing wasn’t satisfied. “Don’t turn it off! Let me play with it a bit longer.”
Fu Jichen refused, pulling her out of the walk-in closet. “It’s excited being in a new home and started rambling. Let’s wait until tomorrow when it’s adjusted.”
After a day apart, Fu Jichen hugged her and had her sit on the sofa. He wanted to hear about the baby’s movements. “Did Little Fish move this afternoon?”
Yu Qing gently stroked her belly. “Twice.”
Fu Jichen crouched halfway down, pressing his ear against her stomach.
After waiting for a while, there was still no movement—it was probably asleep.
He kissed it a few times. “Goodnight, Daddy and Mommy love you.”
He half-rose, hands braced on either side of her, and kissed her. “It’s already four months in—the danger period should have passed, right?”
He had restrained himself for several months and wanted her.
Yu Qing tugged at his neck. “Shouldn’t you be thinking about whose barbecue skewers to eat? How to out-talk Ji Qingyuan and praise Dad’s competence? It’s time to showcase your scheming skills.”
Fu Jichen: “...”
He laughed, pinching her chin. “Come on, if we don’t go downstairs soon, they’ll call us.”
In the courtyard, Ji Qingyuan was still diligently washing cars.
Once everyone gathered, Yu Shaohong called Ji Qingyuan over. “Qingyuan, stop washing cars. Even if you wash until dawn, you can’t escape reading your apology letter aloud.”
Laughter erupted in waves across the courtyard.
Ji Qingyuan turned off the water gun and tossed it aside. After a whole evening of effort, it was all for nothing.
Three hundred words—everyone remembered.
Ji Qingyuan was well-prepared, pulling it out from his pocket.
Everyone else took their seats. Yu Jingze held the baby and whispered to him, “Your daddy is going to read his apology. Listen carefully.”
The baby didn’t understand what was happening, rubbing his eyes with his little hands. He was getting sleepy.
Yu Jingze: “It’s okay. If you fall asleep, Uncle will hold your eyelids open.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Yu Shaohong smacked him on the back of the head.
Yu Shaohong took the baby into his arms.
While others enjoyed the barbecue, Ji Qingyuan began reading: “That day, I shouldn’t have wasted water. Actually, later on, I didn’t really waste any—I turned off the faucet and used water from the pool to wash. Although I washed for several hours, not a single drop was wasted.”
Fu Jichen interrupted: “Is this supposed to be an apology? I don’t sense any remorse.”
He turned to Yu Shaohong. “Dad, I’d like to formally report that Ji Qingyuan not only wasted water but also wasted lettuce. The lettuce was washed to mush—how could anyone eat it? It must have been thrown away. I think he needs to add another three hundred words.”
Yu Shaohong: “The report is valid.”
Ji Qingyuan: “...”
