Psst! We're moving!
There were no significant events on Monday, so colleagues gradually left work.
After some back-and-forth, when Bo Ying returned to the office, it was already empty.
She glanced at Lü Xiuxian’s private office, though puzzled, she didn’t dwell on it too much.
Bo Ying rummaged through her desk and found the document he mentioned.
Standing at the door, she knocked.
After a few seconds, there was no response from inside. Bo Ying furrowed her brows, about to call out, when the door was pulled open from within.
She looked up and met a familiar face.
Bo Ying was momentarily speechless, immediately understanding why Lü Xiuxian had called her back to find a document that wasn’t particularly important—it turned out someone had insisted.
At this thought, Bo Ying’s expression darkened, and she turned to leave.
“Bo Ying.”
He Jingxiu grabbed her wrist, still somewhat confused. “Where are you going?”
“Off work.”
Bo Ying coldly tossed the document at him, reminding him, “President He, it’s after working hours. It’s not appropriate to use work as an excuse for personal matters.”
Upon hearing this, He Jingxiu couldn’t help but laugh.
His gaze lowered, directly looking at her. “You know we’re discussing personal matters. Why are you calling me President He?”
“…”
Bo Ying was left speechless by his words, unable to think of a retort.
She glared at him resentfully and then retracted her statement. “I don’t think I have any personal matters to discuss with President He.”
He Jingxiu wasn’t one to argue. He stared at Bo Ying’s puffed-up face for a while, then pulled her into the office and conveniently closed the door behind them.
Caught off guard, Bo Ying was pinned against the door, unable to move.
She tried to break free, but the disparity in strength between men and women made her no match for He Jingxiu.
“He Jingxiu.” Unable to endure any longer, Bo Ying looked up at him. “What are you doing?”
He Jingxiu paused, lowering his lashes to gaze at her.
His eyes seemed to shimmer with floating dust, swirling with the air currents.
He Jingxiu’s eyes were beautiful—deep pupils, elongated outer corners, naturally soulful eyes.
Faced with such eyes, Bo Ying found it hard to stay angry.
After a prolonged stare, Bo Ying broke eye contact first, choosing not to see to keep her peace of mind.
The two stood in a stalemate.
Seeing her like this, He Jingxiu felt utterly helpless.
In fact, he still didn’t quite understand why Bo Ying had suddenly changed her mind or why she was upset.
He had asked Lü Xiuxian, who had been in a meeting in the afternoon and didn’t know if there had been any disputes in the legal department.
After pondering for a long time, he used his other hand to brush aside her hair and softly asked, “Did something upset you at work? Or did you have a conflict with a colleague?”
For now, these were the only possibilities he could think of.
Bo Ying: “….”
She looked at him incredulously. “What are you saying?”
He Jingxiu paused, softening his tone. “If it’s not these two reasons…”
His brows lightly knitted together, falling into a state of confusion. “Then are you feeling unwell?”
“…”
Bo Ying’s mind raced, finally understanding why he was asking these questions. It seemed this person genuinely didn’t know the reason for her sudden change of heart.
At that moment, Bo Ying’s feelings were incredibly complex.
In truth, she herself couldn’t figure out why hearing Tan Rui’s name would make her lose control of her emotions and act petulantly toward He Jingxiu.
They weren’t in any relationship, and it was perfectly reasonable for him to interact with other women. Yet, she felt a heaviness in her chest, an undeniable discomfort.
But Bo Ying also realized that this was her possessiveness at play.
When she liked someone or something, she wanted to have it all to herself, unwilling to share with anyone else.
She couldn’t be as magnanimous as others. Deep down, she carried the selfish bloodline of the Bo family, which could never change.
“Bo Ying.”
He Jingxiu called her name, breaking the silence in the office.
Bo Ying snapped out of her thoughts, meeting his deep, ocean-like eyes again.
She pursed her lips, speaking irrationally. “I’m not feeling unwell. I just don’t want to ride the bus with you.”
He Jingxiu: “….”
He observed the changes in her expression, slightly raising an eyebrow. “Why don’t you want to ride the bus with me?”
“…” Bo Ying thought that after years of not seeing him, He Jingxiu had become nagging, like an old man, not cool at all.
She glanced at him, boldly asking, “It’s not raining. Why should I ride the bus with you?”
He Jingxiu choked a bit, looking at her. “Is that the only reason?”
“Yes.” Bo Ying nodded, careful not to let her emotions show too much. “That’s the only reason.”
Hearing this, He Jingxiu felt a mix of relief and unease.
For some reason, he’d rather Bo Ying say he had upset her or done something wrong than simply because it wasn’t raining.
As He Jingxiu became lost in thought, Bo Ying pressed her lips together. “Can you let me go now?”
He Jingxiu instinctively loosened his grip, seeing the red marks on her wrist from his grasp. He sighed softly. “Sorry.”
Bo Ying rubbed her wrist and responded, turning her face away. “So… Manager Lü wasn’t really looking for the document? You had him call me back?”
He Jingxiu admitted straightforwardly. “Yes.”
With such honesty, Bo Ying found it hard to reprimand him.
She opened her mouth, but after a long while, couldn’t muster a single word.
“That…” Suddenly, Bo Ying remembered the overlooked point. “Does Manager Lü know we know each other?”
He Jingxiu looked at her alarmed expression, gently pinching her cheek. “Do you mind?”
“…”
Bo Ying was dumbfounded. “What do you think?”
Flustered, she said, “Will Manager Lü think I got into the company through connections?”
Although she believed her abilities were more than enough to secure a position at He Corporation, once relationships came into play, explanations became futile.
He Jingxiu watched her worried expression, lightly curving his lips. “No.”
He pulled Bo Ying to sit on the nearby sofa, calmly saying, “Uncle Lü is one of us. He won’t say anything outside.”
Bo Ying: “….”
She vaguely felt there was some ambiguity in his words.
After holding back for a while, Bo Ying couldn’t resist and bluntly criticized him. “I’m not afraid of that. Our relationship is pure and innocent. Even if Manager Lü says something, I’m not worried.”
Upon hearing this, He Jingxiu’s eyebrows twitched, repeating her words. “Pure and innocent?”
“Isn’t it?” Bo Ying lifted her chin, like a proud swan, making one want to touch her graceful neck.
Thinking this, He Jingxiu acted on impulse.
His fingertips brushed over the delicate skin of her neck, causing Bo Ying extreme discomfort.
Her body tensed, staring at him rigidly.
Due to flipping through documents and typing on the keyboard, He Jingxiu’s fingertips had developed thin calluses. When they touched her skin, a tingling sensation spread throughout her body, leaving her disoriented.
Her eyelashes fluttered, and she quickly moved to another seat.
Seeing her evasive actions, He Jingxiu raised an eyebrow, glanced at his fingertips, and didn’t press further.
“Alright,” he compromised. “Pure and innocent.”
Bo Ying: “….”
After a moment of silence, He Jingxiu looked at her. “Are we still riding the bus?”
Bo Ying admired his ability to change topics. After contemplating for a while, she shook her head. “No.”
He Jingxiu hummed softly, saying, “Then let’s eat first, and then get the car?”
Bo Ying hesitated briefly, softly replying, “I don’t want to eat with you today.”
He Jingxiu was taken aback, laughing bitterly. “Do you really dislike seeing me that much?”
Seeing his slightly hurt expression, Bo Ying suddenly felt remorseful. Nervously licking her lips, just as she was about to speak, her phone rang.
Seeing the caller ID, Bo Ying’s eyes lit up. “Brother.”
She answered the call in front of He Jingxiu. “Are you and Chi Xiaolu back?”
Boyuan responded, “Are you home?”
“Not yet.” Bo Ying guiltily rubbed her nose. “I was just about to leave work.”
Boyuan hummed. “Xiaolu and I are almost at your company building. Come down.”
Bo Ying: “Okay.”
The phone wasn’t soundproof, so every word of their conversation reached He Jingxiu’s ears.
After hanging up, Bo Ying was contemplating how to explain to He Jingxiu when he stood up first, pulling her up from the sofa, and gently said, “Let’s go. I’ll walk you down.”
Bo Ying blinked, looking at his calm expression, and nodded. “Okay.”
In the downstairs lobby, there were still colleagues around, so Bo Ying consciously kept her distance from He Jingxiu.
Noticing her subtle intentions, He Jingxiu, though powerless, didn’t say anything.
“President He, I’m off work,” Bo Ying pretended to bid him farewell. “Thank you for answering my question earlier.”
He Jingxiu glanced at her indifferently. “Go ahead.”
“Okay.” Bo Ying responded, not caring if anyone was watching, and quickly ran off.
Watching her fleeing figure, He Jingxiu helplessly tugged at his lips.
Heartless.
Climbing into the car, Bo Ying first exchanged affectionate greetings with Xiaolu before acknowledging Boyuan.
Boyuan looked at her through the rearview mirror, sarcastically saying, “I thought you didn’t see there was someone else in the car.”
Hearing this, Bo Ying raised an eyebrow, defiantly saying, “Brother, are you looking down on yourself or me?”
Playfully, she added, “Am I blind not to see such a handsome guy?”
Boyuan: “….”
Xiaolu was amused by her antics, smiling faintly. “Missed us?”
“Yes.” Bo Ying hugged her affectionately. “Waaah, it’s been so long since we’ve seen each other. Look at me, have I lost weight?”
Xiaolu held back laughter, examining her up and down. “You’ve lost a bit.”
Bo Ying’s eyes sparkled. “Then I need to eat something good to compensate.”
“…”
Boyuan looked at her with a headache. “What do you want to eat?”
Bo Ying giggled. “Whatever you cook, Brother. Anything is fine.”
Boyuan hummed. “We’ll stop by the supermarket later.”
“Okay.”
The three of them bought the necessary ingredients at the supermarket before heading home.
Once home, Bo Ying initially intended to help in the kitchen, but seeing Boyuan and Xiaolu being affectionate, she didn’t want to be the glowing third wheel.
She sighed, quietly petting the equally lonely Chi Xiaochi and lamenting, “Shall we keep each other company?”
Chi Xiaochi stayed in her arms for a moment, then upon hearing this, extended a paw to tap her arm and gracefully stepped away, exuding aloofness.
Bo Ying watched the little tail left behind, feeling even more heartbroken.
Even the cat rejected her.
Bo Ying took out her phone, capturing Chi Xiaochi’s decisive departure to post on her social media.
Just as she finished recording, her phone rang.
Bo Ying glanced at the unfamiliar number and answered. “Hello?”
“Hello, is this Miss Bo?”
Bo Ying responded, “Yes.”
The male voice on the other end said, “I have a delivery for you that requires your signature. Are you home right now?”
“Oh, yes.”
“Okay, I’ll bring it up.”
After hanging up, Bo Ying was still a bit surprised.
She opened her orange-colored shopping app and checked—she hadn’t bought anything recently. She wasn’t someone who frequently shopped online; if she needed something, she usually bought it directly from physical stores.
After waiting a while, the delivery person arrived.
Bo Ying looked at the box he brought up and was even more shocked.
After signing, she went to the living room to find scissors and began unpacking.
The items inside were meticulously wrapped, layer upon layer of colorful packaging paper, making the process exhausting.
Just as Bo Ying was losing patience, she saw the appearance of the item.
Bo Ying paused, gathering her strength to unwrap all the packaging.
When Xiaolu and Boyuan emerged from the kitchen, the coffee table was adorned with artistic cups, unique music boxes, small plush toys, refrigerator magnets, handmade dolls, and an antique-looking handbag filled with exquisite trinkets.
After taking it all in, Xiaolu was momentarily stunned. “Did you buy these in Jiangcheng and have them shipped back?”
A few days ago, when Bo Ying returned from her business trip, she had also brought back similar small items to show them.
Xiaolu knew she liked these cute and quirky little things.
Bo Ying didn’t say anything.
These items weren’t bought by her, but they were indeed things she had seen in that small shop in Jiangcheng. She had considered buying them but worried they might get damaged during shipping, so she only purchased a few that could fit in her suitcase.
Now, seeing these items she had liked but didn’t buy appear here, it wasn’t hard to guess who had bought them for her.
Xiaolu noticed her silence and exchanged a glance with Boyuan, raising an eyebrow in speculation. “A gift from someone?”
“Yes.” Bo Ying didn’t hide it from them. “Maybe.”
Xiaolu smiled. “What do you mean by ‘maybe’?”
She teased, “It’s delivered to your house. If it’s not a gift, what else could it be? Could it be someone buying it and expecting you to pay?”
Bo Ying: “….”
She blushed slightly, muttering softly, “Who knows.”
Clearing her throat, she turned to look at the two of them. “Time to eat?”
“Not yet.” Xiaolu smiled. “You still have ten minutes. You can thank the person who sent you the gift.”
“…”
Carefully carrying the items back to her room, Bo Ying arranged and photographed them, then sent the picture to He Jingxiu.
Bo Ying: [Did you buy these?]
He Jingxiu: [?]
Bo Ying: [Not you?]
He Jingxiu: [It was me.]
Seeing the text he sent, Bo Ying curved her lips slightly. [Oh, so it’s for me?]
He Jingxiu didn’t reply with more text but sent her a voice message: “If not for you, then who else?”
Bo Ying pouted, coyly replying: [How would I know? What if you have many people to give gifts to?]
He Jingxiu: [?]
He Jingxiu’s voice message came again. “Bo Ying, when did I ever give you this impression?”
