Psst! We're moving!
…I don’t have much experience either.
—Zhang Lurang
The summer vacation stretched over two months.
The two browsed internship recruitment information online, found a few suitable options, and sent out several resumes.
After that, it was time to wait for replies.
Before the interview schedule came out—
Zhang Lurang messaged Su Zaizai on WeChat: Do you want to go play?
Seeing this, Su Zaizai set her laptop aside and replied cheerfully: Of course!
After replying, she thought for a moment, about to suggest going to an arcade, when Zhang Lurang sent another message.
—How about an amusement park?
Comparatively, Su Zaizai preferred the idea of an arcade.
But then she remembered certain scenes and decisively retracted what she was about to say.
—Sure.
The next day, they set off early and boarded the bus heading to the amusement park.
Since the amusement park was located near the final stop, Su Zaizai picked a seat in the last row.
Zhang Lurang quietly followed her and sat beside her.
Su Zaizai took off the baseball cap on her head and casually pulled his off as well.
Then, she rummaged through her backpack and took out her sunscreen, squeezing a large dollop onto the back of her hand.
Su Zaizai turned sideways, hooked her arm around his neck, and gently pulled him down.
Zhang Lurang obediently cooperated.
This close, her pupils appeared magnified before his eyes, their color light yet clear and bright. When her gaze shifted, it was as if stars were flowing within them.
Her fingertips carried a slight chill, and with her gentle movements, it felt exceptionally comfortable.
Su Zaizai carefully applied sunscreen to his face, speaking as she rubbed it in. “It’s definitely going to be scorching hot there, so we need to apply sunscreen properly. The one I bought for you isn’t greasy—it shouldn’t feel too uncomfortable.”
Zhang Lurang gave a low “Mm” in response.
After finishing with his face, Su Zaizai squeezed a bit more into her palm and began applying it to his neck.
Her movements were light. While he hadn’t felt much during the facial application, a faint itchiness emerged as she moved to his neck.
A subtle, teasing sensation crawled upward, brushing past his Adam’s apple.
It felt deliberate yet unintentional at the same time.
Zhang Lurang endured it for a while but eventually couldn’t help tilting his neck backward.
Su Zaizai innocently blinked. “What are you doing?”
Zhang Lurang turned his face away, steadied his breathing, and slowly said, “You’re done.”
Su Zaizai glanced up and down at him, unfazed, and continued. “Your collarbone is exposed too—I’ll apply some there.”
The next moment, Zhang Lurang hastily tugged his collar upward. After a long pause, he awkwardly muttered, “Don’t do this in public.”
Hearing this, Su Zaizai froze for a second before bursting into laughter.
Her laughter made Zhang Lurang’s expression stiffen, and he shot her a cold glare.
Quickly, he put his cap back on, pulling it down to cover half his face.
Su Zaizai leaned forward, peeking at his expression through the gap.
Soon, she reached in and touched his face.
Her voice carried a soothing tone, though mostly she was trying hard not to laugh.
“Okay, I won’t do this in public.”
Zhang Lurang: “… “

The two entered the amusement park.
One of Su Zaizai’s hands was held by Zhang Lurang, while the other clutched a map.
She scanned it carefully, not responding even when Zhang Lurang asked if she wanted ice cream.
Half a minute later, Su Zaizai finally spotted the words “Haunted House” on one section of the map.
She quickly tugged at him, changing directions.
Zhang Lurang was momentarily stunned. “What do you want to play?”
“Let’s go to the haunted house?” She turned back to look at him. “Then we can try other things afterward.”
Zhang Lurang paused, then said earnestly, “Isn’t the haunted house more atmospheric at night?”
Su Zaizai’s eyes widened in disbelief. “What are you saying? At night? Aren’t haunted houses meant for broad daylight?”
Zhang Lurang’s temple twitched. “… Then let’s go.”
The haunted house was located in a corner of the amusement park—a large concrete building painted in dark gray. Moss grew on the walls, streaked with red paint that looked blotchy and uneven.
Occasionally, eerie sounds and human screams echoed from inside, adding to the terrifying atmosphere.
A long line stretched in front of the entrance, with groups admitted every few minutes.
Su Zaizai licked her lips and pulled him over.
While waiting, she took a water bottle from her bag, unscrewed the cap, and handed it to him.
Hearing those spine-chilling sounds, Su Zaizai suddenly grew nervous and whispered, “Are you scared?”
Zhang Lurang held an umbrella in one hand and took the water bottle with the other, wetting his lips briefly.
At her question, his expression remained indifferent as he shook his head carelessly.
Su Zaizai softly murmured an “Oh,” lowering her head, lost in thought.
It wasn’t long before it was their turn to enter.
Inside, the lighting was dim, and strange rustling noises constantly filled their ears.
Su Zaizai gripped his arm tightly and said seriously, “Lurang, don’t be afraid.”
Before he could utter the words “I’m not scared,” she spoke again, her face solemn. “If you’re scared, hold me tight.”
He paused for a moment, pulling her hand and leading her forward.
The ghosts inside were all played by actors stationed at fixed points, suddenly lunging out to startle visitors.
Several times, Su Zaizai nearly screamed, but when she turned to look at Zhang Lurang, his expression remained calm.
She recalled her purpose for coming to the haunted house, and her fear instantly vanished without a trace.
Su Zaizai lowered her head in thought, deciding to change tactics.
Once she had figured it out, she abruptly threw herself into Zhang Lurang’s arms, pouting. “Waaaah, Lurang, I’m so scared…”
Zhang Lurang: “… “
He stopped walking, lifted her head, and examined her expression under the faint light.
Her eyes sparkled with mischievousness, and the corners of her lips curved upward.
She quickly pursed her lips, suppressing her smile.
Zhang Lurang’s lips curved slightly.
He didn’t move, letting her embrace him.
After a while, Su Zaizai said contentedly, “Let’s go.”
Zhang Lurang pulled at her hand, then released it, moving his hand up to rest on her shoulder.
After walking a few steps, Su Zaizai heard him murmur faintly:
“Silly girl.”
She glanced over, catching his affectionate gaze.

After exiting the haunted house, Zhang Lurang led Su Zaizai to the side and bought her an ice cream.
Su Zaizai took a bite of the ice cream and asked, “Shall we go ride the carousel?”
He looked at the map and nodded.
She blinked, pushing her luck. “Will you ride with me?”
“Mm,” he replied indifferently.
Once they found the location, Zhang Lurang held her hand as they queued up.
Su Zaizai licked the ice cream at the corner of her mouth, thought for a moment, then said, “When Jiajia and I came to the amusement park before, she refused to ride it with me, saying it was too childish.”
“…”
“I’ll tell you, she and her boyfriend have already met each other’s parents.” Mentioning this, Su Zaizai’s eyes widened. “Why haven’t we done that yet?”
Zhang Lurang silently pulled a tissue from his bag and handed it to her.
“Don’t always use actions to change the subject,” Su Zaizai said seriously.
Seeing that she didn’t take it, Zhang Lurang directly wiped the smudge from the corner of her mouth and softly said, “As for my parents, I want to wait a little longer before taking you back. They already know about you—I’ve mentioned you to them.”
After saying this, he thought for a moment and added, “Do you want to meet my uncle first?”
Hearing his earlier statement, Su Zaizai was momentarily stunned and curiously asked, “When did you say that?”
Zhang Lurang recalled for a moment, his expression earnest.
“When they called before, they asked me to talk about things here, so I mentioned you.”
It seemed that Su Zaizai was the only thing worth mentioning.
Suddenly feeling a bit nervous, Su Zaizai whispered, “What did they say?”
Zhang Lurang couldn’t quite remember and hesitantly replied, “They told me to bring you back to meet them.”
After a brief silence—
Su Zaizai spoke softly: “Lurang, you should meet my parents first.”
“…”
“Let me see how you handle it.”
“…”
“Give me some experience.”
Zhang Lurang: “… “

After lunch, the two strolled around the area to digest their meal.
An hour later, they happened to walk past the roller coaster attraction again.
Su Zaizai suggested, “How about we ride the roller coaster?”
Zhang Lurang glanced at it—it was about sixty meters tall.
He ruffled his hair, hesitating this time. “Are you sure you’re not scared?”
“Don’t you like it?” Su Zaizai didn’t mind. “Then let’s not ride it.”
“No, if you’re not scared, we can go.”
Hearing this, Su Zaizai cheerfully tugged him over. “I’m not scared.”
This roller coaster was one of the most popular attractions in the amusement park.
Su Zaizai and Zhang Lurang waited for nearly twenty minutes before boarding.
After the staff checked the seat belts, Zhang Lurang still wasn’t reassured and carefully double-checked Su Zaizai’s.
Su Zaizai smiled, her eyes crinkling. “Lurang, aren’t you good at physics?”
He didn’t respond, simply holding her hand.
Soon, the roller coaster slowly began to move.
The speed gradually increased as it climbed from low to high. At the very top, it suddenly plummeted downward.
The sound of the wind was deafening, drowning out half the screams.
Su Zaizai calmly turned her head, looking at Zhang Lurang’s face, which remained unperturbed. She suddenly found it amusing and raised her voice slightly to call him: “Lurang.”
He probably didn’t hear her.
Su Zaizai didn’t think much of it and was about to continue speaking.
The roller coaster sped up even more, and her body began to rotate along with the turns.
Her heart skipped a beat, and she obediently closed her mouth.
A minute later, the roller coaster reached its endpoint, slowing down.
Su Zaizai turned her head to look at him and continued with what she hadn’t finished saying earlier: “Lurang, now we’re a relationship that has been through life and death together.”
Zhang Lurang silently gazed at her.
“So come to my house.”
As soon as her words ended, the roller coaster came to a stop. Passengers unbuckled their seat belts, exclaiming in excitement.
Zhang Lurang also unbuckled his seat belt. Seeing that she hadn’t moved, he reached over to help her unfasten hers.
Then, Su Zaizai pulled him up and continued:
“I’ll have your future in-laws treat you to a meal as thanks.”
