Psst! We're moving!
Zhang Yuan asked again, “You want to join the basketball club? Do you know how to play? How good are you?”
Tang Yin glanced at the nearby hoop and didn’t answer. Instead, she asked, “Senior, are you the president of the club?”
Zhang Yuan shook her head. “Not exactly. I’m the new captain of the women’s team.”
Tang Yin pointed at the hoop. “Senior, since you’re free now, why don’t we have a quick game?”
Zhang Yuan followed her finger and couldn’t help but laugh. “Are you sure? If you sign up, you can join directly. After all, there aren’t many girls.”
Once in the club, there would be time for further selection, but for now, it was just about securing spots.
Even so, she felt this junior had potential—radiating confidence like when she saw her on the plane.
Zhang Yuan finally agreed. “Alright.”
Tang Yin quickly turned to Lu Chi, her eyes sparkling. “Give me some words of encouragement.”
Lu Chi: “...”
After being stared at intently for a while, Lu Chi eventually spoke firmly, “Do your best.”
Tang Yin chuckled. “Let me show you what level your girlfriend is at.”
She hadn’t played basketball much after her third year of high school, only occasionally practicing on the court once or twice a month.
At home, though, she could play with Tang Yun and learn some techniques. This summer, she spent most of her time with basketball.
Perhaps due to the heat or other clubs, no one was under the hoop, giving them space.
Two girls playing basketball naturally attracted attention.
Initially, Zhang Yuan thought Tang Yin’s confidence might stem from her high school days, but in her mind, those skills weren’t impressive.
Only when they started did she realize it wasn’t that simple.
She ended up paying for her carelessness. In a five-point game, she lost the first round outright to a freshman.
Tang Yin had a graceful figure, and her serious side profile during jumps was beautiful. With decent skills, the surrounding boys couldn’t help but applaud.
Lu Chi stood by holding her bag, not in the best mood.
When they finished, both Zhang Yuan and Tang Yin were sweaty. Zhang Yuan asked, “Did you train? It seems someone taught you.”
Tang Yin panted lightly. “My brother is on the basketball team.”
Zhang Yuan exclaimed, “No wonder. Look around, all the boys are staring at you, their eyes almost sparkling.”
Tang Yin’s heart skipped a beat. Sure enough, when she looked up, she saw Lu Chi with a calm expression.
He might be unhappy.
She quickly said, “Senior, Tang Yin from Business English Class 1. Please help me with the registration. I’ll leave first.”
Tang Yin left the court, sniffed herself for any sweat odor, and only relaxed when she found none.
She ran to Lu Chi’s side and quietly asked, “Are you unhappy again?”
Lu Chi glanced at her. “No.”
Tang Yin knew he was lying. She teased, “What are you thinking about? My heart is only for you, haha.”
Lu Chi: “...I know.”
Of course, he knew—from high school until now.
Within a few days, Tang Yin found an apartment.
There were many apartments outside the school. The decoration, facilities, environment, and distance to school of this apartment were quite satisfactory to her.
Jiang Qiuhuan had no objections to her moving out, but later asked if Lu Chi would live with her.
Naturally, Tang Yin said no.
She had asked Lu Chi, but unfortunately, he firmly refused.
Though university classes weren’t frequent, there were at least two per day, usually four or six.
Compared to her, Lu Chi’s schedule seemed tougher.
Tang Yin had seen his timetable—it was packed every day, unlike hers, where Saturdays and Sundays were free, essentially a holiday.
Zhao Le slept late as usual. At two in the afternoon, she woke up groggily and saw Tang Yin dressed and ready to go out.
She asked, “Are you going out? There’s no class this afternoon.”
Tang Yin replied, “To the Medical School.”
Zhao Le nodded without asking further. “Oh, remember to take your keys. I might go out for dinner this afternoon.”
The other two roommates were rarely seen—they usually went out to play during their free time.
Tang Yin responded and closed the door.
From the start of the semester until now, she hadn’t been to the Medical School. The difference between the Foreign Languages School and Medical School buildings was noticeable.
She knew Lu Chi’s class.
The Medical School building was distinctly different from the Foreign Languages School. Tang Yin didn’t know if this was unique to S University or common among universities.
As soon as she entered the building, she saw men and women in white coats, looking almost identical to real doctors except for their youthful faces.
“Did you finish last night’s homework?”
“Who dares not to? I’m not that bold.”
Two girls talked as they walked upstairs.
Tang Yin passed by a group and followed them upstairs, stopping at the same classroom door.
The two girls gave Tang Yin an extra glance.
Tang Yin smiled naturally at them.
The two girls also smiled, pushed open the door, and entered the classroom. Tang Yin followed closely behind.
This wasn’t a large lecture, so only one class was present, with few students, and since it wasn’t yet class time, they sat sparsely.
The air conditioning was on, making the classroom cool.
Tang Yin entered through the back door and immediately saw Lu Chi sitting by the window at the back, his favorite spot.
Just like in high school, he sat upright, reading attentively.
As always, he captivated her.
She lifted her lips and walked over. Schools didn’t restrict other classes from attending lectures as long as they didn’t disrupt the class.
In the third-to-last row, two girls whispered heads together.
“You should just go. What’s the point of just watching? College is the time to act.”
“But he barely talks to anyone. You still don’t know much about him, right? I don’t even know his WeChat.”
“That’s why you should go ask. He only has one person next to him now; hurry up.”
Yang Yue looked back. From her angle, she could only see half of his face, but it was enough to outshine all the boys in the class.
She had taken notice of him since the self-introduction weeks ago.
Not only was he handsome, but his personality seemed good too.
Although she hadn’t had a chance to approach him during this time, she was trying to create opportunities. Unfortunately, every time military training ended, Lu Chi left directly, and she couldn’t ask where he went.
Until now, they had only exchanged a few words.
It was disappointing.
Her roommate continued to encourage her. “Go quickly. Many people have their eyes on him. Take this opportunity.”
Yang Yue took a deep breath, picked up her book, and walked to the last row. She softly asked, “Lu Chi, is the seat next to you empty?”
Tang Yin stood not far away, hearing everything clearly.
Though uncomfortable, it was within her expectations that Lu Chi was popular. She just didn’t expect it to happen so soon after the start of the semester.
She didn’t move, wanting to hear Lu Chi’s response.
...
Hearing a female voice, Lu Chi looked up.
It was a class officer, one of those elected a few days ago.
Before Lu Chi could respond, he saw Tang Yin behind her shoulders. She had her hair tied into a bun, revealing a delicate and exquisite face.
She was smiling brightly at him.
Lu Chi shifted his gaze and calmly said, “Sorry, it’s already taken.”
Yang Yue paused, tactfully refraining from asking who it was or whether Lu Chi made it up. She returned to her original seat with her book.
Tang Yin strode over with big steps. “Didn’t expect this, huh?”
Lu Chi nodded. “Why are you here?”
“I missed you,” Tang Yin tilted her chin. “Since you’ve been in class, I’ve hardly seen you. A day without seeing you feels like three autumns...”
Lu Chi silently flipped through his book, letting her talk.
The bell rang, and a middle-aged woman wearing glasses entered the classroom, looking stern and unsmiling.
Tang Yin glanced at Lu Chi’s book—higher mathematics.
Unlike the Foreign Languages School, they didn’t have math or Chinese courses. Many subjects were entirely in English.
The teacher first called roll, satisfied that all students were present, and began the lesson.
After listening for a while, Tang Yin lost interest and whispered, covering her mouth, “Let’s go eat hot pot tonight.”
Lu Chi’s note-taking hand paused. He turned to look at her. “You just ate hot pot two days ago.”
Thinking for a moment, he added, “Didn’t you say you were getting heaty?”
Tang Yin grinned sheepishly, pointing to the corner of her mouth. “Look, no blisters here.”
She got blisters when she was heaty. Two days ago, she dragged Lu Chi to eat hot pot and thought she’d get heaty afterward, but ultimately didn’t.
Lu Chi’s gaze lingered on her moist lips before shifting away. “Alright.”
Tang Yin wanted to say more but felt something amiss at the podium. Looking up, she saw the teacher staring expressionlessly at her.
Quickly, she grabbed a book from Lu Chi’s hand and pretended to read.
Not focusing on the book, she couldn’t understand the teacher’s words, nor did she want to disturb Lu Chi studying. So she took out her phone to play.
A message from Zhao Le appeared on WeChat: Is the Medical School class strict? Scary? Are there dissections? [Excited]
Tang Yin thought for a moment and replied: Attendance is full, unlike our class where some skip. Today is higher math class.
She logged onto Weibo, browsed for a while, found it boring, and rested her chin in thought.
Medical students’ courses were indeed much heavier than hers, and they sounded complicated. At least she didn’t have to study higher math... Thinking about it, life felt pretty good.
Unconsciously, her thoughts drifted off.
Eventually, the sudden movement of Lu Chi standing beside her woke her up.
Tang Yin looked over, then toward the podium. All the students’ gazes were focused on the last row by the window.
The teacher pointed at the blackboard. “...You’re Lu Chi, right? I didn’t call on you, so you don’t need to stand. The girl in the yellow shirt next to you, answer this question.”
Tang Yin looked at her, pointed to herself, and slowly stood up.
What was this? She was called upon to answer?
The classroom was silent.
Lu Chi quickly opened his mouth. “Teacher, she’s my girlfriend. She’s just here to listen in.”
