Psst! We're moving!
Lu Chi carried Tang Yin to the university hospital on his back.
Almost everyone they encountered along the way focused their attention on them, especially since they were still wearing military training uniforms—clearly freshmen.
Freshmen this intimate likely dated in high school.
On the first floor of the university hospital office, only one male doctor was jotting down notes. Seeing them enter, he asked, “What’s wrong?”
Lu Chi slightly frowned, placing Tang Yin on the examination bed and said, “Her feet have blisters.”
The male doctor nodded. “Hmm, let me take a look.”
He put down his pen, but after taking a few steps, he heard the young man ask, “Excuse me, is there a female doctor here?”
Startled by this question, the male doctor became displeased. “Young man, I’m a doctor. Does it matter that I’m male?”
Tang Yin tugged at Lu Chi. “Lu Chi.”
Lu Chi didn’t speak, but just then, a young female doctor entered, wearing a white coat with a smile on her face.
She couldn’t help but laugh. “No wonder you can’t find a girlfriend; she doesn’t want you touching her boyfriend, right?”
She waved her hand. “I’ll take a look. You continue with your notes.”
The male doctor, feeling irritated, glared fiercely at Lu Chi.
Lu Chi silently endured the glare.
The female doctor squatted down to examine Tang Yin. “Military training must be tough. If you really can’t handle it, you can request leave; no need to force yourself.”
Every year during military training, many students came to her with blistered feet—it was routine.
She cleaned the area with alcohol and gently pricked the blisters, releasing clear fluid.
Lu Chi moved to Tang Yin’s side and whispered softly into her ear, “Does it hurt?”
The female doctor, with sharp hearing, teased, “Picking a blister hurts? Your boyfriend treats you like a princess, held in the palm of his hand.”
She had seen many couples, but this pair was rare.
Lu Chi hadn’t expected to be overheard and felt a bit embarrassed.
Tang Yin smiled, pinching his heated, reddened earlobe. “Others can only envy us.”
The female doctor shrugged indifferently. “Alright, I’ve applied anti-inflammatory ointment. After soaking your feet each night, continue applying it. It will heal in a few days.”
She stood up, smiling. “Alright, settle the bill first, then you can carry your girlfriend back.”
Tang Yin echoed, “Let’s go back.”
Lu Chi squatted down to examine her feet. The soles were now a stark contrast to her smooth instep, making him uncomfortable.
He almost scowled as he went out to settle the bill but returned composed.
Lu Chi helped her put on her shoes. “Let’s go.”
Tang Yin obediently climbed onto his back, swinging her legs playfully.
Once outside the hospital gates, with no one around, she stretched her neck close to his ear and whispered, “My Chi Chi is such a good boyfriend.”
She actually wanted to bite him but refrained, fearing it might be too much.
Lu Chi didn’t speak, but his entire face radiated joy. His usually straight lips curved slightly, exuding happiness from every pore.
His ears burned hot.
Tang Yin eventually ate dinner in the dormitory.
Lu Chi ordered her takeout, forbidding her from stepping outside.
The dorm supervisor usually didn’t allow boys inside, even if they were handsome. However, seeing Tang Yin possibly unable to walk, she made an exception, limiting their time to ten minutes.
After finishing her meal and tidying up, the other dorm mates slowly returned.
The other two girls weren’t particularly close to Tang Yin but casually asked how she was. Tang Yin casually replied.
Later, Zhao Le entered, seeing her watching a movie on her tablet in bed. She asked, “How are you? Is your foot okay?”
Tang Yin smiled. “It’s fine, just blisters. The doctor popped them for me.”
Zhao Le nodded, plopping down on a chair. “I’m exhausted. If only it were cloudy tomorrow—the sun is so harsh. I’ve applied so much sunscreen, yet I still got tanned.”
She sat there motionless, recalling the whispers among several girls after Tang Yin and her boyfriend left earlier.
“How lucky she is to have such an obedient boyfriend who carries her without a word. I wish someone would do that for me.”
“I saw on the forum once—they’re high school classmates and started dating before graduation. That’s why their relationship is so strong.”
“True, but long-term relationships are rare. With so many girls in school, who knows if he’ll dump her for someone else.”
“That’s unkind, but true. One of my high school classmates broke up last week due to distance. The guy seemed interested in new classmates.”
Zhao Le expressed these concerns because Lu Chi was so handsome. Judging by their class, several girls already had their eyes on him.
Though they’d been roommates for only over a week, the thought of her roommate being poached was unsettling.
Tang Yin pinched Zhao Le’s round cheek. “No one can take him away from me.”
She trusted Lu Chi deeply based on their high school experiences and her faith in him.
Zhao Le was momentarily stunned.
After a while, she finally snapped out of it. “Damn, Tang Yin, that was such a bold statement. I love it! Does your doctor know?”
Tang Yin closed the video and nodded. “Yes.”
Throughout high school, Lu Chi knew exactly what kind of person she was.
Zhao Le couldn’t resist asking, “I saw on Weibo that many people from our school say you’re very bold. Did you make the first move?”
Tang Yin’s eyes curved with a smile. “Yes.”
If she hadn’t been bold back then, how could she be with Lu Chi now? Reflecting on it, Lu Chi had been influenced by her. Perhaps the disciplinary director was relieved they graduated.
Zhao Le looked at her, recalling the few times she’d seen Lu Chi.
Lu Chi’s eyes were solely on Tang Yin. She had spoken to him only once, with just one word.
A man of few words but decisive actions.
Not long after military training ended, it was time to choose clubs.
Early morning, various clubs occupied the open space at the school square, showcasing themselves.
The area extended all the way to the playground behind.
The west gate playground was beautiful, featuring volleyball courts, ping-pong tables, and basketball courts inside. Every evening, many students exercised there.
“Junior sister, here’s the promotional flyer for our anime club. This year’s freshman party includes otaku dance. You’re so pretty—why not give it a try?”
“The Hanfu club offers the experience of wearing traditional Han clothing, including ru skirts and hair accessories. Weekly courses teach tea art and hairpin crafting.”
Tang Yin wandered around, finding nothing interesting.
However, the school mandated participation in at least two clubs to earn corresponding credits.
Lu Chi wasn’t particularly interested either, so they wandered aimlessly.
Tang Yin pointed to the Hanfu club. “Why don’t you join the Hanfu club, wear robes, and fan with them?”
Lu Chi glanced over. “No.”
Tang Yin laughed heartily. “Just teasing. Why not join the student council? They seem powerful.”
Lu Chi still said, “No.”
Nearby, a boy handing out flyers spotted Tang Yin, his eyes lighting up as he hurried over. “Junior sister, would you like to...”
Lu Chi watched clearly.
Before the boy finished his sentence, Tang Yin was pulled aside, away from the original spot.
Initially unaware, Tang Yin later turned to see the stunned senior, feeling sorry for him.
Since starting university, Lu Chi increasingly disliked her getting too close to other boys, especially strangers.
Classmates were tolerable. She had been asked for WeChat in the cafeteria once, and Lu Chi’s expression was less than pleased—he kept it to himself.
If not for Tang Yin knowing, he probably wouldn’t have admitted it.
Despite this, Lu Chi never controlled her actions, occasionally frowning but not interfering—a trait she appreciated.
After wandering for a while, Tang Yin’s eyes lit up.
Basketball club!
Lu Chi naturally noticed too. “Do you want to join?”
He remembered shortly after transferring to Jiashui Private School, Tang Yin’s confident and beautiful shot on the court.
Of course, back then, she played with others, which made him uncomfortable.
Tang Yin nodded, grinning. “Yes, yes, yes! University should separate teams by gender—you won’t need to worry.”
Lu Chi remained expressionless, pretending not to hear.
They soon arrived at the basketball club. Their booth was set up roadside near the basketball court under a tent.
The basketball club had already recruited enough male members, so there weren’t many people gathered.
Inside, a boy and a girl were talking.
The boy said, “Zhang Yuan, don’t expect any female recruits this year. You don’t realize how delicate girls are nowadays. Playing basketball is exhausting; ping-pong would be more suitable.”
He spoke the truth.
The school’s basketball club had separate women’s and men’s teams. Each year, the men’s team quickly recruited new members, whereas the women’s team struggled to convince others.
The men’s team had three squads, strictly controlled, while the women’s team had only one, highlighting the disparity.
In fact, it was also the school’s basketball team.
Due to S University’s setup, the basketball club existed for credits.
Only the best men’s team competed externally; the rest practiced within the school.
Zhang Yuan rested her chin, watching girls enter neighboring clubs without a glance, sighing at his words.
There was a friendly match with the neighboring university in a little over a month. New recruits were needed to fill vacancies.
Originally the vice-captain, Zhang Yuan became captain when her senior from the third year, busy with thesis, internships, and job hunting, stepped down.
Fewer girls played basketball, and losing a few made recruitment even harder.
Though the friendly match prioritized fun, everyone wanted to win—not for the school, but for themselves. Losing always left a bitter taste.
Lost in thought, two people approached.
“Huh.” Zhang Yuan didn’t expect this junior sister.
She had secretly watched her on the plane and was caught by the main subject—thinking about it made her feel embarrassed.
The boy inside glanced at Lu Chi and quickly said, “Sorry, the men’s team is full.”
Too many boys liked basketball.
He looked somewhat like a pretty boy, pale and delicate. Who knew if his basketball skills were good? Regardless, the team was full.
This junior sister was rather pretty, though.
He glanced at Lu Chi, smiling as he asked, “Junior sister, do you like basketball too? Let’s add WeChat—I’ll reserve a spot for you at games.”
These days, girls who liked basketball were rare.
Before Tang Yin could respond, Lu Chi spoke, “No WeChat.”
After a few seconds, he added, “No need to reserve a spot.”
Tang Yin caught on and followed, “No need, senior. When there are games, I’ll watch with my boyfriend.”
Lu Chi immediately nodded in agreement.
Zhang Yuan found Lu Chi’s reaction amusing and nudged the stunned boy, whispering, “Her boyfriend is right beside her. What WeChat are you asking for?”
The boy slumped back onto his chair, sighing.
The table was high. Tang Yin secretly reached underneath to hold Lu Chi’s hand, beaming. “Are there spots available in the women’s team?”
Zhang Yuan couldn’t believe it, standing up abruptly. “You want to join the basketball club?”
Tang Yin nodded. “Is it only for boys?”
