Psst! We're moving!
Hah, got him.
——From Su Zaizai’s Little Fairy Diary
The next extended break, Su Zaizai arrived punctually at the same spot with her umbrella, ready to ambush the person she’d been waiting for.
She no longer looked down to play with puddles using her shoes but instead gazed intently toward the school gate, her expression serious. She even put on her glasses, which she rarely wore outside of class.
In the distance, lush green trees were blurred by the fine rain and thick mist, blending into large, soft patches of color. The scenery was picturesque, serene and beautiful.
To her surprise, the handsome boy wasn’t someone who liked being late.
So why had he seemed so calm that day!
It seemed the handsome guy was someone who remained composed under any circumstance—a trait Su Zaizai admired greatly.
On the third day of her stakeout, the weather cleared up.
The morning radio exercises resumed as usual…
She decided to change her strategy.
Since the handsome guy had walked over from the direction of the school gate that day, he was likely a commuting student. If she arrived earlier to wait, she’d surely catch him eventually.
After the final exercise move, the principal stood at the front with a microphone, organizing the students to return to their classrooms. But students never listened. At the words “return in an orderly manner,” they all linked arms and dispersed noisily.
Jiang Jia was dragged off to the snack shop by Xiaoyu.
Under the blazing sun, the concrete ground radiated heat, and the air felt thick and sticky like it had solidified. With no shade around the playground, Su Zaizai was dizzied by the heat and just wanted to rush back to the classroom.
Pushing through the crowd, she kept her head down, eyes fixed on the ground ahead, taking slow, careful steps to avoid accidentally stepping on anyone’s feet.
And then…
Her head collided with someone’s chin.
At that moment, she heard a sharp “crack—” from the other person’s jaw, as if the bone had shifted out of place, separating from the upper jaw.
Su Zaizai: “….”
She quickly raised her head, her face full of apology, and blurted out: “I’m sorry! There are too many people… Are you okay…?”
Her voice trailed off toward the end.
Because she saw his face.
That face… the one she’d thought about for seventy-two hours straight.
The young man frowned, rubbing his chin with his right hand. Beads of sweat formed on his forehead, his cheeks flushed red from the sun, and his lowered gaze remained cold and indifferent as he said: “It’s fine.”
With that, he walked past her, heading toward the snack shop.
Su Zaizai, still in shock from this unexpected gift from the heavens, snapped to attention when she saw him leaving. Her head, previously dizzy from the heat, suddenly cleared.
She hurried after him, grabbing his wrist.
The young man stopped and turned to look at her. His arched brows and icy eyes revealed his displeasure, and the tense curve of his profile made it clear he was not happy.
Su Zaizai immediately let go, as if electrocuted. She swallowed nervously, her palms sweaty and clammy. The surrounding noise seemed to fade away, leaving only silence in her ears.
His presence seemed magnified—clear, cool, and enveloping her.
Su Zaizai wiped her hands on her uniform pants, trying to dry the sweat.
Suddenly, the person before her noticed something. The coldness in his eyes softened slightly, replaced by a thoughtful expression.
Taking advantage of this shift, she mustered her courage and asked timidly: “…What’s your name?”

Su Zaizai felt utterly hopeless.
Super hopeless, hopeless to the point of despair.
Jiang Jia sat straddling a chair, placing a can of Sprite on Su Zaizai’s desk with a grin: “Hey, what’s wrong with you? I was only gone for a little while, and you’re already looking like this.”
Su Zaizai glanced at her blankly, her gaze distant, and didn’t respond.
Jiang Jia thought for a moment: “Is it that time of the month?”
Since it was Jiang Jia asking, Su Zaizai decided to confess directly, her expression sorrowful: “I’ve fallen for a guy.”
“…” Jiang Jia nearly spat out her Sprite.
“Sigh.” Su Zaizai touched the droplets of condensation on the soda can, gloomily saying, “These water droplets… they’re like the endless tears flowing from my heart.”
Jiang Jia coughed a few times and reached out to ruffle her hair: “…What’s going on? What guy? Have I met him? Who is he? An old classmate or something?”
Su Zaizai answered honestly: “I don’t know if you’ve met him, but I saw him for the first time a few days ago while waiting for you outside the snack shop.”
“Huh? Love at first sight?”
Su Zaizai nodded, paused for a moment, sighed deeply, and added: “I ran into him again just now when I came back to the classroom. I even asked for his name.”
At this, Jiang Jia’s eyes lit up: “Wow, what a coincidence! So you actually bumped into him again? What’s his name? Maybe I know him!”
“Idiot.”
“Can you talk properly? Why are you cursing me out of nowhere!”
Su Zaizai lowered her gaze: “That’s what he said.”
At the moment she heard it, she was genuinely stunned—how could someone just start off by cursing…
It felt like a bit of disillusionment.
But she quickly realized what he meant. And once she understood... it felt even worse than disillusionment.
Idiot…
What he likely meant was: My name is Idiot—didn’t you call me that earlier?
How could she dare ask any further questions after that…
Su Zaizai never imagined he’d overheard her calling him an idiot and, worse still, accurately figured out she was talking about him!
Jiang Jia was furious, slamming her hand on the desk loudly: “Damn it, why the hell did he curse you?! Was asking for his name really necessary?! What a psycho!”
Her reaction made Su Zaizai pause. She looked up at Jiang Jia, hesitating to speak.
“What’s wrong with you! Did I say something wrong? Are you actually defending him now? What kind of taste do you have! You’re definitely one of those people who only care about looks and not personality. And you still claim you’re not interested in handsome guys? Bullshit!”
Seeing how worked up Jiang Jia was, Su Zaizai cleared her throat and spoke cautiously: “Well… um… it’s possible… he might have overheard me calling him an idiot earlier…”
A brief silence.
Jiang Jia: “...Just pretend I didn’t say anything.”
Another brief silence.
Unable to resist, Jiang Jia asked: “Why did you call him that anyway?”
Su Zaizai couldn’t even remember what she had been thinking at the time…
“If he only said ‘idiot’ and nothing else, it probably means he doesn’t have a good impression of you…” Jiang Jia’s tone was careful. “He didn’t leave you any way to find him again.”
It seemed that way…
Su Zaizai groaned: “I regret it now! Shouldn’t I have just outright asked for his contact info… Argh, I was so nervous I couldn’t think straight!”
She should’ve gotten his contact info first and then explained later!
“You’d regret it even more if you had.”
“Why?”
“Because he wouldn’t give it to you.”
“…”
“And he might even humiliate you again in the process.”
Jiang Jia patted her head, half-jokingly.
Su Zaizai smiled faintly and playfully twisted her fingers: “Get lost.”
Before Jiang Jia could retort, the bell rang.
Seeing Su Zaizai still looking utterly dejected, Jiang Jia lost her enthusiasm and consoled her: “It’s fine. You’ll definitely run into him again. This school isn’t that big.”
Su Zaizai lamented tearfully: “Yeah, there are only sixty classes combined in Grades 10 and 11...”
Jiang Jia was momentarily speechless: “...Drink your Sprite.”
The English teacher walked in, and the classroom fell silent.
Su Zaizai composed herself, clapped her cheeks lightly, and prepared to channel her frustration into studying.
After the class began, the English teacher flipped through materials while speaking from the podium.
After a moment, she looked up at Su Zaizai: “Class representative, I left my lesson plan in Class 1—it’s a blue folder. It should be on their podium. Go fetch it for me.”
Su Zaizai nodded, stood up, and left the classroom, walking briskly toward the advanced class.
Worried about keeping the teacher and classmates waiting too long, she eventually broke into a jog.
She arrived at the entrance of the advanced class, her footsteps making a “tap tap tap” sound accompanied by the wind.
Breathing slightly heavily, her hair slightly messy and loose, she called out: “Reporting.”
When the teacher waved her in, she approached the podium and whispered: “Teacher, I’m here to get Ms. Chen’s lesson plan. She said it was left here.”
The teacher rummaged around and handed her a blue folder: “Is this it?”
“Mhm, thank you, teacher.” With that, she turned to leave.
As she turned, her gaze inadvertently swept across most of the classroom.
Suddenly, she noticed a boy sitting on the outer side of the third row in the first group.
His head was bowed, writing something very intently on paper, completely unfazed by her presence as an outsider. From this angle, she could see most of his face—his pale, high nose bridge, the slight curve of his lips.
His back was perfectly straight, exuding a strong, masculine aura.
The light illuminated his eyelashes, casting a fan-shaped shadow beneath his eyes.
Su Zaizai casually withdrew her gaze and calmly walked out of the classroom.
On her way back to her own classroom, she was so excited she nearly rolled all the way back.
Unable to contain herself, Su Zaizai hopped twice on the spot, thinking inwardly: If it weren’t for class being in session right now, she could probably scream nonstop for an entire hour.
What incredible luck!
She was so grateful to the English teacher!

After sitting down, Su Zaizai passed a note to Jiang Jia.
—Remember the two handsome guys in the advanced class you mentioned last time? One is Zhang Lurang, what’s the other’s name?
Jiang Jia glanced at her, puzzled by the sudden question, but obediently wrote down a name on the note.
—Zhou Xuyin.
Su Zaizai licked her lips, crumpled the note into a ball, and whispered: “Who’s better looking?”
The man she had her eye on was absolutely stunning! No one could compare to him!
Jiang Jia grabbed Su Zaizai’s hand—because the English teacher was present, she dared not be too loud—but her tone was filled with excitement: “Even though I haven’t seen him, based on what I’ve heard, it’s definitely Zhou Xuyin!”
“Zhou Xuyin...?”
“Yeah! Holy crap, I’ve heard he’s drop-dead gorgeous!”
Drop-dead gorgeous.
With just a single indifferent glance, he truly was... breathtaking.
