Psst! We're moving!
Yu Tian felt as though she had lost all her armor and weapons.
Flustered, she ran out of the hospital. As she walked along the road, surrounded by the sounds of bustling traffic, she still felt a strong sense of unreality.
She had wanted to take the lead in front of Yan Ming, but frustratingly, her inexperienced self seemed no match for him.
So tonight was her last stand.
Tonight, she absolutely could not show any weakness.
She had to be more in control than Yan Ming, dictating every aspect of the situation.
Perhaps she should prepare in advance?
Yu Tian returned to her studio, locked the door, and downloaded a short film on her phone. But after watching it furtively for just a few minutes, her face flushed red, and she quickly turned it off.
She switched to a video explaining various positions, but this time, she lasted even less time.
It was simply… unbearably embarrassing.
Yu Tian decided to give up.
Fortunately, Ren Yali had sent over several orthopedic educational videos shot by Jiang Yuming that afternoon, so Yu Tian threw herself into the post-production editing work.
Once she immersed herself in her work, time flew by.
After finishing the edits and uploading the videos, Yu Tian began browsing information about graduate school admissions at her alma mater and reached out to her desired mentor.
By the time she finished everything, she suddenly realized it was already time for her meeting with Yan Ming.
That night, both of them ate dinner somewhat absentmindedly. Almost instinctively, Yan Ming took Yu Tian’s hand and led her toward the escalator heading down to the underground parking garage beneath the commercial building where the restaurant was located.
Yan Ming had parked in a relatively remote area of the parking lot, so there were hardly any people on the escalator connecting to this section.
But Yu Tian couldn’t shake the feeling that everyone around knew what she and Yan Ming were about to do next. Her heart raced wildly, as if she were a bank robber clutching stolen gold bars—recklessly bold yet trembling with paranoia.
As if trying to avoid suspicion, Yu Tian subtly pulled her hand away from Yan Ming’s. He paused briefly but didn’t say anything, appearing compliant. To further assist in avoiding attention, he stepped down two levels on the escalator, placing himself below Yu Tian and creating some distance between them.
Feeling a bit awkward, Yu Tian glanced at him reproachfully and muttered under her breath, “There’s no need to go this far to avoid suspicion.”
Standing one step lower on the escalator, Yan Ming turned and smirked. “I’m not avoiding anything.”
At that moment, Yu Tian noticed that after stepping down two levels, Yan Ming was now almost eye-level with her.
His eyes met hers, focused and serious. Without warning, Yu Tian found herself pulled into his arms, and then Yan Ming pressed his lips against hers.
This usually calm and reserved man kissed her with intimacy and a hint of boyish playfulness.
A girl riding the opposite escalator spotted the scene and couldn’t help but pull out her phone.
Yan Ming acted as if nothing was happening, tenderly cradling Yu Tian’s face and kissing her deeply, leaving her no room to escape.
And truthfully, she didn’t want to escape.
The earlier nervousness and anxiety seemed to vanish. Yu Tian took the initiative to deepen the kiss, only to teasingly break away just as things were heating up. She looked into Yan Ming’s eyes, which now carried a glimmer of desire and dissatisfaction, and gazed at his flushed lips before leaning in to kiss him again.
Finally overwhelmed by Yu Tian’s assertiveness, Yan Ming struggled to maintain composure. Meanwhile, more passersby started taking photos, and some even recognized Yu Tian and Yan Ming.
“Hey, isn’t that the couple from the Kiss Cam during the livestream...?”
Yu Tian wanted to cover her face with her hands. Quickly pulling a baseball cap from her bag, she put it on, hoping to conceal most of her face.
“Embarrassed?” Yan Ming chuckled softly. “Then let’s run.”
In the next second, Yu Tian felt Yan Ming grab her hand. Before she could react, he pulled her along, and she instinctively followed him as they ran.
When they reached Yan Ming’s car, Yu Tian was still slightly out of breath.
This time, Yan Ming was driving an SUV, its tall frame completely shielding Yu Tian as she bent over slightly to catch her breath.
Yan Ming, however, remained perfectly composed, standing tall and looking at Yu Tian with a teasing grin.
“Your stamina is terrible.”
Little did they know how widely the Kiss Cam footage had spread. While Yan Ming stood casually by the car, a girl parking nearby recognized him. After a brief gasp of surprise, she walked over to him.
“Hello, would it be okay to take a photo together?” Clearly, she hadn’t noticed Yu Tian hidden behind the car. She introduced herself to Yan Ming: “I’m also a content creator. I attended the platform event that day and saw you there.”
Yu Tian didn’t recognize the girl’s face, but as soon as she spoke, she immediately knew who it was.
It was one of the girls who had attacked Yu Tian baselessly from behind a screen during the event, spreading rumors that she was a homewrecker. This particular girl had been among the loudest critics, which is why Yu Tian remembered her voice so vividly.
The girl, dressed provocatively, swayed her hips as she approached Yan Ming. It wasn’t until she got closer that she noticed someone else was with him. However, because Yu Tian was wearing a baseball cap, the girl didn’t recognize her right away.
Yu Tian, dressed in a simple T-shirt and jeans after spending the afternoon editing videos, looked far from glamorous. Her hair was tied back in a casual ponytail.
Seeing Yu Tian, the girl hesitated momentarily but couldn’t quite place her identity. With a slight frown, she asked, “Are you… ‘Xiao Yu Loves Candy’?”
Clearly, even when taking out the trash, some people insist on being impeccably dressed—you never know when you might encounter someone you dislike. In Yu Tian’s mind, the worse the person, the more dazzlingly she wanted to present herself, determined to prove them wrong. That was her life philosophy.
But now…
The other girl was impeccably made up in a sexy, sultry style, while Yu Tian wore plain, everyday clothes.
Her pride refused to acknowledge her presence at that moment.
Pretending to alter her voice, Yu Tian said, “No, you’ve mistaken me for someone else.” To make it more believable, she added hastily, gesturing toward Yan Ming, “I’m his sister.”
The girl smiled and greeted Yu Tian politely, then turned her full attention to Yan Ming.
“Mr. Yan, I heard from the platform staff that Jiuyou is planning to launch a new female-oriented game and is looking for collaborating streamers. I used to be a gaming streamer and am quite interested. Would it be convenient to exchange contact information?”
Though her words sounded professional, her intentions were glaringly obvious.
True, even though there was a Kiss Cam moment between Yu Tian and Yan Ming, it wasn’t as if they were married. Celebrity couples in love broke up all the time; how much more so for ordinary people like them?
This girl clearly believed in the adage: “If the grass seems taken, loosen the soil.” She showed no intention of backing down despite Yu Tian’s presence. Subtly shifting her body, she ensured her best angles were displayed to Yan Ming. Her beautiful eyes gleamed with naked ambition.
Who wouldn’t want a man like Yan Ming?
Yu Tian wavered between indignation and wounded pride. Part of her wanted to reveal her identity and confront the girl on the spot, but another part felt that her current attire lacked the necessary presence.
What she didn’t expect was that Yan Ming acted faster than she could.
Without hesitation, he rejected the girl—
“It’s inconvenient to take a photo or exchange contacts.” Yan Ming pointed at Yu Tian. “My sister would mind.”
“Ah…” The girl was visibly surprised. “But…”
Before she could continue, Yan Ming swiftly pulled Yu Tian into his arms, smoothly removing her baseball cap and bending down to give her a kiss.
After the kiss, Yan Ming still held Yu Tian tightly, his tone calm. “This kind of sister would mind very much.”
His open and unapologetic demeanor finally made the previously confident girl uncomfortable.
The female content creator obviously hadn’t expected Yu Tian herself to be standing there. Staring at her for a moment, she stammered, attempting to justify herself: “You don’t have to be so petty. I was just thinking about potential future collaborations…”
But Yan Ming mercilessly exposed her excuse: “Jiuyou’s business doesn’t fall under my jurisdiction. I’m just an ordinary ophthalmologist. Last time, I attended the event on behalf of my father because of my girlfriend. But you might consider getting your eyes checked—if you can’t recognize people properly.”
He cast a subtle glance at Yu Tian, whom the girl had completely failed to identify earlier, then ignored her altogether. Turning to Yu Tian with a completely different, gentle gaze, he said, “Let’s go. Get in the car.”
Though her outfit couldn’t possibly outshine the other girl’s, Yu Tian felt a rush of satisfaction stronger than if she had been dressed to impress.
At that moment, Yu Tian finally realized she no longer needed others’ approval or validation. Other people simply didn’t matter anymore.
If happiness itself was already so immense, there was no room left for negative emotions.
There was no time to dwell on anything else when happiness filled her heart.
Why bother with fancy clothes? True love never cared about such superficial appearances. What mattered was always the connection between two people. Whether Yan Ming wore a white coat or an expensive suit, in Yu Tian’s eyes, he was equally radiant.
Suddenly, Yu Tian no longer felt the need to put on airs or fake confidence in front of Yan Ming. She didn’t need to grasp for control or dominance.
People often preached about the need for techniques in romance, careful arrangements in relationships, and women needing to maintain the upper hand. But they forgot that when you meet the right person, none of these complicated procedures or tactics are necessary.
Throughout her relationship with Yan Ming, Yu Tian had stumbled at every turn—a disastrous first meeting, the awkward “sibling” dynamic holding her back, misunderstandings from the past, clumsy attempts at probing, and countless embarrassing social mishaps.
Every step had been wrong, yet somehow, they ended up in the right place.
It was like a battle destined to be won, preordained by fate.
Even her clumsy, flustered self—the messy, imperfect self stripped of glamour, wounded and defeated—felt safe when presented to Yan Ming.
No pretense or calculated moves were needed. Yu Tian already possessed the most comfortable and purest form of love.
Nothing in her relationship with Yan Ming had been planned—not a single detail. Yet each unexpected twist and turn created magical, romantic moments that ultimately brought her this man, with whom she wanted to live happily ever after.
Yu Tian pressed her hand against her wildly beating heart and picked up her phone.
Almost simultaneously, Yan Ming glanced over with the corner of his eye. “Calling who?”
He appeared nonchalant, but his tone betrayed his concern.
Yu Tian smiled. “My mom.”
Yan Ming paused. “Is something wrong with Auntie? Her eyes should be recovering well.”
“She’s fine. I just think I need to let her know I won’t be home tonight.”
Yan Ming hesitated. “Then I’ll need to stop by a convenience store later.”
“Hmm?”
His voice was slightly unnatural. “There are a few things I need to buy.”
“What things?”
He gave Yu Tian a subtle look. “Didn’t you say you still want to pursue your studies and aren’t planning to have kids anytime soon?”
At that moment, Yu Tian finally understood what Yan Ming needed to buy.
She recalled the positions and scenes she’d seen in those short videos and suddenly blushed, unsure where to put her hands and feet.
But she glanced at the man beside her. Though nervous, she didn’t feel the overwhelming panic or unease she had imagined.
Because she was ready.
Yu Tian had once read in a medical textbook that the human eye contains approximately 120 million rod cells and only 6 million cone cells. Yet cone cells are indispensable because rod cells detect dim light, provide night vision, and produce colorless images, while cone cells handle bright light, daylight vision, and colored images.
Without cone cells, humans lose their perception of color.
At this moment, Yu Tian thought, Yan Ming was like her cone cells, bringing vibrant hues to her life.
He was the right person.
