Psst! We're moving!
It’s an honor.
—Zhang Lurang, Su Zaizai the Little Fairy’s Diary
Upon hearing this, Su Zaizai raised her eyes and gazed at him silently.
Her once-bright eyes gradually dimmed, losing their luster.
Soon, she averted her gaze and softly said, “If you came here just to tell me this…”
Zhang Lurang abruptly cut her off: “Zaizai.”
Su Zaizai paused, responding faintly.
Zhang Lurang’s Adam’s apple bobbed; he seemed somewhat nervous too. “Over the past two years, I’ve taken on several private projects sporadically. After graduation, we’ll have enough for the wedding.”
“…”
“I promise you, within two years of graduating, I’ll earn enough for the down payment on a house.”
Su Zaizai watched the pedestrians passing by outside the window, her eyes suddenly reddening.
She turned her head and looked at Zhang Lurang.
Her expression overlapped with that of her five-years-younger self.
Suddenly, Su Zaizai burst into tears, grabbing his hand and whimpering, “How can you be like this…”
Back then, her face was bare of makeup, still retaining a childish innocence. Even her slightest words felt like playful teasing, and she stubbornly clung to his hand, refusing to let him return to City B.
This time, though wearing meticulous makeup and dressed in work attire, she still clutched his hand like a child, accusing him of his actions.
They had known each other for six years and had been together for five.
In each other’s eyes, they still appeared as they had at the very beginning.
Zhang Lurang raised his other hand to wipe away her tears, his voice hoarse: “Don’t cry.”
Su Zaizai looked at him through tear-filled eyes, sobbing as she vented her emotions.
“I said I wanted to go back alone, and you really let me go back alone. It took me more than ten steps to reach that taxi, yet you didn’t stop me!”
“I said not to come find me, and you really didn’t.”
“I’m only this angry once… couldn’t you comfort me a little more?”
Zhang Lurang was left speechless by her words. After a long while, he finally said, “I was afraid of making you even sadder.”
Su Zaizai slapped his hand away, raising her voice: “Then this time, you’ve really pissed me off.”
Upon hearing this, Zhang Lurang leaned closer, staring deeply into her eyes.
His gaze was focused, shimmering with emotion.
Su Zaizai allowed him to stare without saying anything further.
She sniffled, lowering her head to rummage through her bag and pulled out a tissue.
Suddenly, Zhang Lurang gave her lips a light peck, his lips curving slightly.
Su Zaizai, still holding the unopened tissue pack, was caught off guard, frowning as she said, “What are you doing? I’m still…” angry.
He thought for a moment and earnestly replied, “Cute.”
Su Zaizai was momentarily stunned.
Then, Zhang Lurang continued speaking, seemingly without a shred of embarrassment.
“I want to kiss you.”
Su Zaizai glanced at him, pursing her lips without replying.
The next second, she couldn’t help herself: “Why are you doing this?”
Zhang Lurang nuzzled her nose with his own and gently said, “To kiss you.”
Su Zaizai’s grievances and anger slowly dissipated. She rubbed her eyes and softly responded with an “Oh.”
Seeing that she wasn’t speaking, Zhang Lurang didn’t mind and went on: “Shall I take you to buy some jelly?”
“The last batch you bought me is still unfinished,” Su Zaizai admitted honestly.
Zhang Lurang nodded: “Mm, I’ll buy you more.”
As he spoke, he started the car and drove toward a nearby imported snack shop.
Su Zaizai sat beside him, watching his movements when she suddenly spoke: “You said waiting two years is fine, but I’ll only wait two years.”
After saying this, she felt her threat lacked sufficient impact, so she added grumpily: “If it exceeds two years, I’ll… I’ll find someone else.”
Perhaps because he was driving, Zhang Lurang didn’t respond to her words.
They soon arrived at the snack shop. Zhang Lurang found a parking spot, quickly got out, bought a bag of jelly, and placed it in the backseat.
Then he continued driving.
Su Zaizai had a poor sense of direction and didn’t know where he was heading.
“Where are you driving to?”
Just as they hit a red light, Zhang Lurang stopped the car and turned to look at her: “I rented an apartment near Z University.”
Su Zaizai looked puzzled: “What did you rent it for?”
“To see you every day,” he whispered softly.
With that, Zhang Lurang turned his attention back to the road and restarted the car.
Su Zaizai gazed at his profile, feeling somewhat dazed: “When did you rent it?”
“I rented it during my internship,” he replied calmly, no longer bottling everything up as he usually did. “But I didn’t want us to live together unmarried, so I left it vacant.”
“And now…”
“Su Zaizai, I’ve been too calm with you,” Zhang Lurang said as he drove into a residential complex and searched for a parking space. “I always thought you were still young, that you didn’t know how to consider yourself.”
But his overthinking had instead become the source of her insecurity.
“But maybe I overthought things,” Zhang Lurang said, unbuckling his seatbelt and turning to look at her.
Su Zaizai opened her mouth, suddenly feeling a bit embarrassed: “It’s not…”
Zhang Lurang leaned over, nibbling on her earlobe and licking it lightly.
His voice was muffled yet tender: “With you, being calm is all that’s unnecessary.”
Su Zaizai was left a bit bewildered by his words but couldn’t help but curve her lips into a smile.
Afterward, the two got out of the car.
Zhang Lurang held her hand and led her toward one of the buildings.
Su Zaizai stared at the back of his head and suddenly called out: “Rang Rang.”
Zhang Lurang turned to look at her, his lips curving slightly: “What is it?”
Still holding his hand, the words she’d been holding back for days finally spilled out: “You’re really too much. That day, I even turned my head on purpose, but you didn’t rush over to hug me.”
Listening to her words, Zhang Lurang said earnestly: “Alright, next time I won’t let you go no matter what.”
“The driver even told me that breaking up isn’t a big deal and that I shouldn’t cry so hard,” Su Zaizai said indignantly.
Zhang Lurang frowned, also displeased: “Don’t listen to him. This is important.”
Su Zaizai obediently nodded, her voice carrying a hint of nasal congestion: “I think so too. This is serious.”
Soon, they arrived at the apartment Zhang Lurang had rented.
His steps paused, and he handed the keys to Su Zaizai.
“You go in first.”
Su Zaizai gave him a puzzled look but didn’t refuse. She took the keys and opened the door.
The interior was dimly lit, making it hard to see the decorations.
Instinctively, Su Zaizai reached out to feel the wall beside her, searching for the light switch. “Rang Rang, where’s the switch…?”
At the same time, she pressed the switch, and bright white light flooded the room.
Su Zaizai’s voice stopped abruptly.
In front of her was a white wall covered with hundreds of photos of her.
Her throat tightened as she slowly stepped forward, reading the words written under each photo.
—October 1, 2013: Zaizai said, “My Rang Rang is the best-looking.”
—August 13, 2015: Zaizai said, “Your wife is in your car! Drive carefully!”
—January 27, 2017: Zaizai came to my house, and I kissed her.
From behind her, Zhang Lurang’s voice rang out.
It was deep, tender, and filled with warmth and anticipation.
“Su Zaizai.”
She turned around.
Zhang Lurang slowly knelt on one knee, holding a ring box in his hand.
“Your parents say you’re their precious pearl. I know you’ve never suffered much and have always lived a good life,” Zhang Lurang said solemnly, looking at her. “I want to give you a good life, but you said you’re willing to endure hardships with me…”
At this point, Zhang Lurang paused, his tone tinged with bitterness.
“The only thing I can offer you in return is that I will never let you suffer, not even a little.”
Su Zaizai’s gaze shifted from the ring to his face, her eyes reddening once again.
“I can wait. You don’t have to…”
“Su Zaizai, it’s me who can’t wait any longer.”
“I’m afraid you’ll run away.”
“So… will you marry me?”
His expression was tense yet full of anticipation, as if he couldn’t rest easy without her affirmative answer.
Finally, Su Zaizai couldn’t help but curve her lips upward. She extended her hand toward him and nodded solemnly: “Yes.”
Her mind was carefree, with no grand ambitions, but because of him, she continuously strived to improve herself.
He was introverted and taciturn, unsure how to express his emotions and love, but because of her, he continuously worked to voice his feelings.
They were both striving to become better people for each other.

A year later, Su Zaizai and Zhang Lurang concluded their university lives and ended their six-year-long romance by stepping into the Civil Affairs Bureau to obtain their marriage certificate.
That night, Su Zaizai pulled a notebook from the bedside table.
Its cover, worn from years of use, bore several faint cracks.
She flipped through it briefly, barely glancing at its contents, and tossed it directly onto the desk in front of Zhang Lurang, who was sitting there typing.
“A wedding gift. The love letters I promised to give you.”
After quickly dropping those words, Su Zaizai grabbed her laundry and dashed into the bathroom.
Zhang Lurang froze momentarily, removing his hands from the keyboard and picking up the notebook.
On the cover were a few words:
Su Zaizai the Little Fairy’s Diary
The handwriting was delicate, vastly different from her current style.
Unable to resist, he curved his lips slightly and carefully opened the notebook, reading it attentively.
October 9, 2012
Today, I saw a boy outside the convenience store. He was incredibly handsome.
He didn’t have Baru’s ears, but still, my heart skipped a beat.
Me, an unparalleled beauty, had my heart disturbed by a mere handsome man.
Wuu wuu wuu, how am I supposed to find him…
Instantly became my ideal type :)
Hey, feel honored or not, you beautiful man.
Even though you don’t have cat ears, I’ve fallen for you anyway.
……
November 3, 2012
Today, I fell down, and the beautiful man took me to the hospital.
On the way back, he asked me, “Are you still hungry?”
Then… his next sentence was, “Give me your WeChat.”
AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
An unforgettable day.
I wonder if he remembers it.
Anyway, I won’t forget it.
……
June 17, 2019
Today, I married him.
When Zhang Lurang turned to the last page, Su Zaizai happened to step out of the bathroom.
He extended his hand to her, softly saying: “Come here.”
Su Zaizai obediently walked over and snuggled into his arms.
She watched as Zhang Lurang picked up a pen and carefully added a line beneath her words.
—Today, she married me.
Then, Zhang Lurang flipped back to the first page.
Overwhelmed by happiness, he couldn’t help but chuckle.
The vibrations in his chest made her turn to look at him.
When she turned her gaze back—
She saw his powerful handwriting.
Stroke by stroke, carefully written, were three words:
—”It’s an honor.”

Two years later.
Su Zaizai was sitting in her office, about to pack up and head home, when she received a call from Zhang Lurang.
She smiled and quickly answered: “Rang Rang!”
Zhang Lurang’s voice carried a hint of amusement: “Are you off work?”
“Yes, I’m just about to leave.”
“Wait ten more minutes before coming down. I’m driving over to pick you up.”
Su Zaizai responded with an “Oh” and suddenly remembered: “We’re going to look at houses today, right?”
“Mm, it’s raining outside. Remember to bring an umbrella when you come out.”
Su Zaizai glanced to the side and furrowed her brows: “I didn’t bring an umbrella.”
Zhang Lurang didn’t seem too concerned and gently said: “Then I’ll come over to get you.”
He was driving, and Su Zaizai didn’t want to distract him, so she quickly ended the call.
She looked out the window, momentarily lost in thought, then began packing her things and headed downstairs.
Su Zaizai walked out of the company’s entrance and waited at the door.
Not long after, she saw Zhang Lurang’s car pull into a nearby parking spot.
Then, he opened a pure black umbrella and stepped out of the car.
Su Zaizai watched as he walked toward her through the rain, like a scene from nine years ago at Z High School.
Zhang Lurang’s features were sharp, his posture upright, and his entire being exuded an air of maturity.
He resembled the Zhang Lurang from back then, yet he no longer did.
Slowly, yet with long strides, he approached her, his eyes filled with warmth.
Su Zaizai stood on the steps, looking down at him below.
Their gazes met, reminiscent of that moment outside the convenience store.
That fleeting glance.
Just one look.
Only that single glance seemed to seal their entire lives together.
So certain.
