Psst! We're moving!
The seawater was warm. At first, it felt cool when they entered, but after just a minute, the temperature became comfortable.
Le Ya could smell the ocean’s distinct scent, slightly different from the salty breeze carried by the wind. She even tasted a hint of saltiness on her lips.
Chen Yang’s hand rested firmly on her waist.
In the water, Le Ya floated easily, as if gravity had no hold on her. Every time she started to drift upward, Chen Yang gently pressed her back down.
His hand remained on her waist, their skin touching.
Perhaps he hadn’t shaved today because when her arm brushed against his jaw, she felt the slight prick of stubble. It didn’t hurt—it just gave her a strange sensation.
Curious, Le Ya reached out to touch his face, but Chen Yang caught her hand and murmured in a low voice, “Didn’t anyone tell you not to touch randomly?”
She quickly withdrew her hand. “Fine, I won’t touch anymore.”
Chen Yang pulled her closer into his arms. “Too late for that.”
Le Ya keenly noticed the change in him and quietly muttered under her breath, calling him a pervert. Her ears turned bright red, almost glowing.
She tried to pull away, but Chen Yang tightened his grip on her waist. “Don’t move.”
His hoarse voice whispered directly into her ear, startling her so much that she froze, clinging to him like a lifeline.
After what felt like an eternity, Chen Yang finally sighed and held her hand. “I’ll guide you.”
Le Ya hesitated. “Are you feeling okay?”
Chen Yang adjusted her goggles for her. “Even if I’m uncomfortable, what can you do about it here? Don’t overthink things.”
He went over some safety tips with her.
As Le Ya listened, she dipped her head underwater and saw a school of fish swimming past her, brushing against her sides.
Below were coral reefs and colorful fish darting through them, along with enormous starfish resting on the seabed.
The underwater world was mesmerizing, instantly captivating Le Ya. Held securely by Chen Yang, all she had to do was look down while being guided forward.
About half an hour later, she began to feel cold.
Sensing this, Chen Yang wrapped his arms around her. Le Ya removed her gear and gasped for air, unable to breathe through her nose.
Through the goggles, she met Chen Yang’s intense gaze.
Her heart raced as she softly pleaded, “Stop looking at me.”
The full-face mask made her feel self-conscious, convinced it made her look unattractive. But Chen Yang’s heated stare was impossible to ignore.
Embarrassed, Le Ya reached up to cover the lens of his mask.
Chen Yang said reassuringly, “Don’t worry.”
He added something else, but Le Ya didn’t catch it because a loud noise suddenly interrupted them. Turning her head, she spotted a boat nearby.
Xie Qingyu stood aboard it, calling out, “Le Ya! Do you see me?”
Everyone except Le Ya and Chen Yang had already boarded. Su Hui sat casually eating an apple, likely brought from the island.
Chen Yang said, “Let’s go up.”
He helped Le Ya climb onto the boat first; she was small and light, making it easy for him to lift her. He followed shortly after.
Le Ya asked, “Where did this boat come from?”
Xie Qingyu leaned over and explained, “We rented it from the island. It’s ours to use for the next little while, but we can’t go too far—just stay in this area. Tomorrow, we can try sea fishing.”
Though not large, the boat was more than sufficient for their group.
Teasingly, Xie Qingyu remarked, “What were you two doing underwater for so long? We’ve been back onshore forever.”
Le Ya defended herself. “What could we possibly have done underwater?”
“I didn’t say anything specific,” Xie Qingyu winked mischievously. “Calm down, hurry and dry your hair, hahaha.”
Le Ya blushed, feeling flustered.
Xie Qingyu handed her a towel and then moved off to chat with Su Hui. The signal out at sea was weak, so they planned to wait until returning to the island to check their phones properly.
Chen Yang sat at the bow of the boat, his silhouette drawing attention.
Occasionally, passersby on the beach glanced over curiously.
They drifted on the water for quite some time. As the sun set, vibrant orange-red clouds painted the horizon, creating a breathtaking view.
Le Ya snapped several photos to save the moment.
Xie Qingyu urged everyone, “Let’s head back for dinner.”
Naturally, none of them drove the boat—they were all unlicensed. When they rented it, a young man stayed aboard to handle navigation.
By the time they returned to the shore, the sun had vanished, leaving only streaks of twilight behind.
Dinner consisted of fresh seafood, unlike anything found on land. Everything was freshly caught, wild-caught delicacies.
Liang Qian took charge, skillfully peeling shrimp and crabs for Xie Qingyu.
Su Hui teased, “Did you train him yourself?”
Xie Qingyu shot Liang Qian a glance before whispering conspiratorially, “He’s working hard for tonight’s reward.”
Su Hui nodded knowingly, smirking. “Got it.”
Their conversations were always open and uninhibited. They often discussed intimate topics and shared movies without batting an eyelash.
Le Ya sat nearby, her ears reddening slightly.
Xie Qingyu pinched her cheek affectionately. “We mustn’t corrupt our little innocent, right? Pretend you didn’t hear anything.”
Le Ya protested weakly, “But I did hear.”
“Then consider it experience,” Xie Qingyu laughed. “By the way, did you bring protection?”
Le Ya hesitated, too embarrassed to answer.
Su Hui chimed in confidently, “No worries, I’ve got you covered. I’ll give you a box later.”
Suspicious, Xie Qingyu raised an eyebrow. “Why do you carry so many? Are they all for personal use? That impressive?”
Su Hui rolled her eyes. “Don’t be ridiculous. I’ve been preparing for Le Ya since forever. Whatever she needs tonight, I’ve got it.”
Xie Qingyu wasn’t entirely convinced.
It took over half an hour to finish their meal.
