Psst! We're moving!
Yu Shaohong couldn’t figure out why his son was so agitated, nor could he pinpoint which sensitive nerve he had inadvertently triggered.
It was just a Children’s Day gift—how could he, as a father, not fulfill his daughters’ wishes?
He asked his son: [Let me know what gifts you prepared for them that are so embarrassing to give.]
Yu Jingze completely ignored the message.
Yu Shaohong @Yu Jingze: [I know you’re lurking in the group chat.]
Yu Jingze: “...”
He didn’t have the habit of celebrating holidays. In the past, whenever he bought gifts for his sisters, it was never tied to a specific occasion—he simply purchased whatever they liked when he came across it, and it didn’t have to be on the holiday itself.
As for Children’s Day gifts, he had only prepared something for his nephew. [Neither Yu Qing nor Jingxin received anything.]
[Wait, no—that’s not true. Yu Qing did receive something. She gave me a bag earlier as a gift and told me to re-gift it to her on Children’s Day.]
Yu Shaohong: [No wonder you’re panicking—it’s pretty embarrassing.]
In their small group chat with three members, they were also discussing the matter.
Fu Jichen @Yu Jingze: [Ask Dad if your childhood regrets were ever compensated with material things. Even if it’s just two hundred yuan, we could split it among the three of us and each get more than sixty.]
Ji Qingyuan had just finished a meeting that lasted several hours and happened to have some free time to check messages.
Treat it as entertainment, he chimed in agreement with Fu Jichen: [That’s a good idea. Wealth is accumulated bit by bit—go ahead and ask him.]
Yu Jingze had just completed a successful business negotiation and was on his way back to the bank when he encountered a traffic jam. With nothing better to do, he returned to the main group chat and sent another message: [Dad, I too have regrets from my own Children’s Days.]
Yu Shaohong: [Exactly. That’s why you must remember in the future not to let your own children grow up with similar regrets. Don’t end up like me, having to scrimp and save at this age to make up for lost time.]
Yu Jingze: “...”
In the smaller group chat, Ji Qingyuan @Yu Jingze: [Since Dad is starting to dodge the question with vague answers, just state your demands outright and see how he reacts.]
Yu Jingze followed the advice: [Dad, I hope I can also receive compensation.]
Yu Shaohong: [To be honest with you, I didn’t even know what Children’s Day was when I was a child—I have regrets too. Your grandparents haven’t compensated me yet. Once I get my compensation, I’ll definitely pass it on to you.]
Yu Jingze: [My request isn’t high—two hundred yuan would suffice.]
Yu Shaohong: [If we divide that amount, it won’t be evenly divisible by three. Uneven distribution might lead to fights among you three.]
Yu Jingze: “...”
The group burst into laughter.
Yu Shaohong: [I know all of you are lurking here. Are you free on the 31st? It’s been over three months, and although you haven’t fully achieved your goals, you’ve made decent progress. Let’s celebrate and keep pushing forward.]
Unknowingly, more than two months had passed since their lakeside late-night snack outing.
Everyone was busy, and hardly anyone ate meals at home.
They checked their schedules and all agreed in the group chat to keep that evening free, treating it as a celebration for Yu Qing and Yu Jingxin’s Children’s Day.

Today was Friday. Before leaving work, Yu Qing received a call from Yu Jingxin, inviting her to go shopping. Yu Jingxin told her to wait at the office, and she would come pick her up.
For Yu Qing, days without drowsiness felt like being reborn.
Qin Moling knocked and entered, handing her an invitation for a roadshow.
Next Thursday, the securities firm would hold a targeted promotion for SZ, organizing a roadshow.
Although Zhou Siyuan intended to acquire SZ entirely, SZ Catering still hoped to attract more buyers to create competition.
Yu’s Bank was SZ’s creditor—a fact Yu Qing had known for a while—but seeing Qin Moling present the invitation, she assumed, “Are you interested in SZ?”
Qin Moling: “No. Now that you’re clear-headed, I can explain.”
Lemong had previously invested in SZ. At the time, SZ had just opened and only had branches in a few first- and second-tier cities. To expand, they needed funding.
SZ was in the high-end catering industry, and expansion required more than just pocket change.
The boss of SZ was a friend of his, so he sought help.
Since Lemong was a large enterprise, its investment in SZ could boost confidence among other investors.
After conducting a risk assessment, Lemong decided on an equity investment in SZ, planning to hold it long-term.
Yu Qing blinked. She reviewed monthly financial reports but wasn’t clear on the details of the company’s long-term equity investments, nor had she inquired further.
No wonder Yu Fei said SZ was more complicated than anticipated.
She also recalled that on New Year’s Eve, Qin Moling had booked SZ Restaurant—it turned out he had directly contacted the owner of SZ.
Yu Qing asked Qin Moling, “Are you planning to take over SZ or something?”
Qin Moling had no interest in the catering industry and didn’t plan to enter it.
“We’ll see who ends up taking over SZ. If the price isn’t right, I don’t intend to sell my shares. Moreover, SZ has substantial loans with our bank. Handling the debt issues will be troublesome. I’ll accompany you to listen to their project investment value analysis that day.”
Yu Qing nodded. “Alright.”
Their family’s bank and Qin’s group were strategic partners with cross-shareholding agreements.
SZ owed money to Yu’s Bank, which directly impacted Qin Moling’s interests. Moreover, he had facilitated the loan for SZ, so he had to stay vigilant.
After finishing their discussion, Qin Moling stared at her. “How is it that you haven’t gained any weight? Are you sure you’re pregnant?”
Yu Qing: “...”
She couldn’t help but want to laugh. He was still worried about those two vitamins he had taken earlier, constantly fretting whether they were birth control pills. Every day, he obsessively checked if she was showing signs of pregnancy.
Though she was four months pregnant, her limbs remained slim. Wearing slightly loose dresses, others couldn’t tell her abdomen was slightly protruding.
From appearance alone, no one would guess she was pregnant.

Yu Qing had never gone shopping with Yu Jingxin before, and it was rare for Yu Jingxin to abandon her overtime for leisurely strolls. “Did you receive Dad’s money today and decide to celebrate?”
Yu Jingxin shook her head. She had planned to shop tonight anyway—it was just a coincidence that their father had given the Children’s Day gifts today.
“I’ll ask Ji Qingyuan for a Children’s Day gift tonight and buy a new outfit to please him.”
Yu Qing rested her chin on her hand and smiled. “Not bad—you’ve learned how to wield beauty as a weapon.”
During this period, Yu Qing had been drowsy and fell asleep as soon as she got home, neglecting to ask Yu Jingxin about her recent marital insights. “Have you seen any hope?”
Yu Jingxin thought carefully and nodded.
She said, “Being coquettish works wonders.”
It was far more effective than cold wars or arguing with him.
After being coquettish, all her requests were fulfilled, and he even felt guilty, thinking he had done something wrong.
“However, I’m still only scratching the surface of being coquettish. Now that your morning sickness has mostly subsided, I’ll ask for your advice when I have time.”
She paused briefly.
“In the past, I didn’t know who to talk to, so I kept everything bottled up inside. Eventually, I became too lazy to care, and life turned out this way.”
She knew her stubborn personality was annoying. She disliked how she had become such a person, but she couldn’t bring herself to lower her pride and approach Ji Qingyuan.
Yu Qing offered her advice: “There are some things you can talk to Mom about. She’s been through it and probably understands marriage better than I do. I’ve only observed situations around me and reflected on them, but after all, I haven’t entered that ‘walled city’ of marriage. I don’t know if things inside are really as I imagine. My opinions might not be entirely suitable for life within the walled city.”
Regarding her relationship with her mother, Yu Jingxin simply said, “Life in a reconstituted family is even messier. She didn’t have time to pay attention to me.”
Yu Qing didn’t press further. After all, not every remarried couple could be like her mother and Pang Linbin, whose children from previous marriages lived far away.
Moreover, their respective ex-spouses were sensible people—too busy making money to interfere. Whether it was her or Pang Linbin’s son, they both supported their parents in finding happiness.
“Planning to buy a dress?” Yu Qing changed the subject.
Yu Jingxin: “Mm, something sexy.”
The two shared a knowing smile.
After more than two hours of shopping, they returned with their hands full.
At checkout, Yu Jingxin hesitated for a moment but still used Ji Qingyuan’s card to pay.
This was the first time in four years that she had used his money.
When Ji Qingyuan received the transaction notification, he finally felt needed and experienced a bit of masculine accomplishment.
Sometimes he even doubted that, aside from being useful in bed, Yu Jingxin might not think much of him otherwise.
Today he came home early. Yu Jingxin had sent him a message earlier saying she would go shopping with Yu Qing, so he returned early to spend time with their son.
Their baby was almost one year old, barely able to walk, and still unsteady.
He could also say “Dad,” though most of the time it was a series of “Dada-da.”
The weather was nice today, with a gentle breeze.
Ji Qingyuan took his son out to play in the yard. He kissed his son’s cheek and said, “Say ‘Dad’ again.”
The baby hugged his neck tightly. “Dad.”
Ji Qingyuan continued teaching him, “Mommy loves Daddy.”
The baby blinked his long lashes.
After struggling for a while, he managed to say, “Mommy, Daddy.”
Ji Qingyuan: “Love.”
The baby looked like he was trying hard to learn. “Ah.”
Ji Qingyuan: “Mommy loves Daddy.”
The baby was stumped. The sentence was too long.
Looking pitiful, he pouted and turned his head to look for someone.
A car arrived—it was Fu Jichen’s vehicle.
The baby waved his little hand excitedly, thinking Mommy had returned.
“Mommymommy!” he shouted.
But when he saw who stepped out of the car, his expression instantly fell, and he blinked repeatedly.
Fu Jichen strode over, crouched halfway down, and pinched the baby’s cheek.
The baby wriggled free from Ji Qingyuan’s lap and approached Fu Jichen. His logic was simple: if he stayed with Fu Jichen, he wouldn’t have to say such long sentences.
Fu Jichen picked up the baby, seeing his helpless expression. He asked Ji Qingyuan, “Did you upset him?”
“How old am I? Why would I upset him?” Ji Qingyuan explained, “I was teaching him how to speak.”
Fu Jichen: “Let me teach him. Your method might be wrong.” He looked at the baby, “Uncle-in-law loves Auntie.”
The baby was utterly confused.
Ji Qingyuan grabbed the child back and shoved Fu Jichen away. “Get lost, as far as you can go.”

As dusk approached, Yu Qing and Yu Jingxin finally returned home.
The housekeeper and driver helped carry the shopping bags, making three trips to bring everything in.
They had taken two cars—the second one was specifically used to carry items, and even the front passenger seat was piled high.
Yu Jingxin only bought three long dresses and a few pairs of shoes. The rest were Yu Qing’s spoils.
Yu Qing had bought gifts for everyone at home, including plenty for her little fishling. At the maternity store, she practically wanted to buy the entire shop.
Fu Jichen helped her organize. “Why did you buy so much?”
Yu Qing: “It’s been too long since I went shopping. I was afraid I’d forgotten how to spend money, so I tried practicing—and couldn’t stop.”
Fu Jichen was speechless.
Standing at the entrance of the walk-in closet, Yu Qing fantasized, “If only there was a robot to help me manage everything. Whatever I need, I just tell it, and it’ll get it done in minutes.”
The walk-in closet connected to the bedroom, so the housemaid couldn’t frequently enter.
Fu Jichen: “It will happen.”
He didn’t elaborate further.
“Where should I put these? I’ll handle the organizing.”
While they were busy upstairs, Yu Jingxin took her shopping bags to the third floor.
Ji Qingyuan was preparing formula for their baby at the tea cabinet. Hearing her footsteps, he turned his head. “You only bought this much?”
“There’s no shortage at home, and I didn’t find anything suitable.” Yu Jingxin placed the clothes on the sofa and walked over. Initially standing to the side of Ji Qingyuan, she then moved behind him.
Ji Qingyuan couldn’t see her. As soon as he turned his face, her weight pressed against his waist—she hugged him from behind.
Although her coquettish behavior was still awkward, at least she was willing to try.
For any big or small request, she would now act coquettishly.
“Jingxin, can we talk about something? Could you hug me every day from now on?”
Yu Jingxin made a soft sound of agreement, then mumbled after a moment, “Husband.”
Ji Qingyuan was pouring warm water into the baby bottle but accidentally spilled it on his hand.
Since their marriage, this was the first time she had called him “husband.”
He didn’t make her feel embarrassed and guessed why she was acting coquettish.
“I prepared a Children’s Day gift for you and want to give it to you early.”
Yu Jingxin buried her face in his back, inhaling his scent.
Now, he belonged solely to her.
She asked, “What gift?”
Ji Qingyuan: “Equity in Wenning Media.”
Yu Jingxin tightened her grip around his waist. “Thank you, husband.”

The next morning, Ji Qingyuan’s lawyer contacted Yu Jingxin to accompany her to Wenning Media to sign the agreement.
When Leng Wenning received Ji Qingyuan’s call, her mind blanked for a moment.
She hoped she had misheard, but she knew clearly what he was saying.
Previously, she thought he wanted to add a clause allowing him to transfer shares at any time to distance himself from Yu Jingxin if she found out about his investment in Wenning Media.
But she never expected that he intended to transfer the shares to Yu Jingxin.
Clutching the last shred of hope, Leng Wenning asked, “Did Yu Jingxin find out about your investment in Wenning Media and force you to do this?”
Ji Qingyuan didn’t hesitate for a second. “No.”
Leng Wenning nearly crushed her phone in frustration. “You planned this from the beginning?”
He replied just as firmly: “Yes.”
Leng Wenning maintained her last ounce of composure. “Why?”
“I want to make her happy.”
Leng Wenning crossed her arms, nodding forcefully even though he couldn’t see her, and let out a bitter laugh.
She refrained from venting her dissatisfaction from a personal standpoint. Questioning him now would only humiliate herself. Instead, she spoke from the company’s perspective: “Mr. Ji, isn’t this unfair to Wenning Media?”
“My wife works in venture capital. In her eyes, if she invests, she must make money. Rest assured, with her involvement, Wenning Media will only improve.”
Leng Wenning suddenly didn’t know how to counter him. She could only swallow her bitterness.
He must have known something but chose not to bring it up, likely sparing her some dignity to avoid an irreparable mess.
Her heart ached, but she still managed to say, “Thank you, Mr. Ji, for finding such a good business partner for me.”
Ji Qingyuan didn’t say anything more and ended the call.
Leng Wenning slammed her phone onto the desk with such force that it fell to the ground, its screen cracking.
She had originally planned to use the media company to pressure and threaten Yu Qing, but Yu Qing struck first, leaving her defenseless.
Thinking about this series of moves, it was clear this wasn’t Yu Jingxin’s level of strategy.
She had to admit—this round, she had completely lost to Yu Qing.
The secretary knocked and entered, saying that Ji Qingyuan’s lawyer and Yu Jingxin had arrived and were waiting in the reception room.
Leng Wenning composed herself. “I’ll be there in ten minutes. You take care of them first.”
She picked up her phone, which was now unusable due to the broken screen.
After taking a moment to compose herself, Leng Wenning took out her makeup mirror to touch up her appearance. Having lost the substance, she couldn’t afford to lose face as well.
This was the first formal meeting between Yu Jingxin and Leng Wenning. Previously, they had only seen each other from afar at social events, knowing who the other was without ever crossing paths.
With their lawyers present, they exchanged polite words before signing the documents.
The air around them was almost suffocating, tension palpable.
In less than half an hour, all agreements and procedures between them were finalized.
Leng Wenning escorted Yu Jingxin to the elevator, wanting to say a few words. “Does Mrs. Ji perhaps misunderstand me? After all, I was the one who left Ji Qingyuan.”
Yu Jingxin smiled. “Rest assured, Ms. Cold—I only love money. As for Ji Qingyuan, I initially recycled him for environmental reasons, turning waste into treasure.”
Leng Wenning: “...”
She extended her hand, forcing a smile. “In that case, I hope we have a pleasant cooperation.”
Yu Jingxin lightly shook her hand. “Pleasure.”
