Psst! We're moving!
Just like last night, He Jingxiu only gave a light kiss, his soft lips brushing her cheek where the tear streaks had been.
Bo Ying’s eyelashes quivered slightly, and her hands instinctively clenched her clothes tightly, too afraid to move.
Soon after, He Jingxiu pulled back.
His eyes were bright and black, directly locking onto hers. “Will you deduct points this time?”
“...”
Bo Ying abruptly snapped out of the intimate moment. Her nose was red from crying, her eyes still wet, making her look pitiful and delicate.
She pursed her lips, her shimmering pupils glaring at him with little confidence. “Deduct.”
He Jingxiu raised an eyebrow, a slight smile playing on his lips. “Even for this?”
“Yes.” Bo Ying looked at him, “Do you have any objections?”
Seeing her struggling demeanor, He Jingxiu chuckled lightly and tilted his head. “No.”
He gazed at her, his tone laced with helplessness. “How dare I.”
Bo Ying: “Hmph.”
Seeing her like this, He Jingxiu reached out to gently tap her nose, feeling a great weight lift off his chest.
What he feared most was that Bo Ying would dwell on these past events. For He Jingxiu, missing out was indeed regrettable, but he didn’t want Bo Ying to be unhappy or harbor resentment because of it.
What they needed to do was move forward, not look back.
Looking at the teary-eyed troublemaker, he suggested, “Let me take you for breakfast first, then we’ll go home?”
Bo Ying nodded.
Originally, Bo Ying wasn’t particularly sleepy.
Though she hadn’t slept much the previous night, she felt quite energetic. However, He Jingxiu’s car seemed to have some magic; she started feeling drowsy just a few minutes after getting in.
At first, Bo Ying tried to stay awake for a while, but eventually gave up.
After telling He Jingxiu something, she closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.
When she woke up again, they were on a bustling roadside.
The car was parked under the thick shade of trees, with dappled sunlight filtering through the leaves, casting fragmented patches of light.
Bo Ying rubbed her eyes sleepily, peeking out the window.
Just then, she saw He Jingxiu approaching with a paper bag in hand. The man stood on the other side of the zebra crossing, his figure upright, a small halo of light on his head, making him appear even more radiant.
Bo Ying leaned her head on her hand, carefully observing. Though it was just a short wait at the zebra crossing, many gazes fell upon He Jingxiu.
Several of them were young, pretty girls.
Thinking back to their school days, Bo Ying felt a twinge of jealousy. She wondered how many beautiful girls had confessed to him during his university years.
He Jingxiu followed the sunlight, retracing his steps back to her.
Seeing her round, almond-shaped eyes, he lifted his gaze slightly. “Awake?”
“Mm.”
Bo Ying looked at the takeout food in his hand. “Aren’t we going downstairs to eat?”
“It’s hot outside.”
He Jingxiu handed her the paper bag. “Let’s eat at home.”
Bo Ying had no objections to this.
Once home, Bo Ying went to the bathroom.
Glancing at the mirror by the sink, she belatedly realized... she hadn’t put on makeup today, and her complexion was terrible.
Having barely slept the night before and cried multiple times, she had dark circles under her eyes, her face lacked color, and though her skin wasn’t flawed, it was very different from her usual meticulous appearance.
For a moment, Bo Ying regretted deeply.
If she had known He Jingxiu would pick her up, she wouldn’t have gone back with such a bare face.
Bo Ying turned on the faucet, washed her face again, and applied skincare products.
As she applied them, she thought about how He Jingxiu managed to kiss her despite this face.
Thinking of this, her movements slowed considerably.
She distinctly noticed her ears turning red. After staring at them for a while, Bo Ying attempted to cover it up by rubbing them. Once the temperature in her ears dropped, she stepped out of the bathroom.
After breakfast, Bo Ying felt sleepy again.
She originally wanted to accompany He Jingxiu downstairs to walk He Pom Pom, but her eyelids were drooping. She decided to give him the code and go back to her room to sleep.
Hearing the numbers she recited, He Jingxiu glanced at her, a smile on his face. “Not being cautious with me?”
“...”
Bo Ying shot him a glance, muttering, “Can I really guard against you?”
She was well aware of her own abilities as well as He Jingxiu’s capabilities.
He Jingxiu chuckled softly. He patted her head, his voice gentle. “Go to sleep. No need to set an alarm; I’ll wake you up for lunch.”
“Mm.” Bo Ying thought for a moment. “If I’m not awake by twelve, don’t wake me. Eat without me.”
She didn’t want her sleep disturbed. Though not severe, Bo Ying did have some morning grumpiness.
Seeing her earnest expression, He Jingxiu smiled to himself and promised, “Don’t worry. Neither He Pom Pom nor I will disturb you.”
Bo Ying: “Then... good morning?”
He Jingxiu smiled: “Good morning.”
The entire weekend, Bo Ying was extremely lethargic, eating and sleeping alternately. The only exercise she got was walking the dog with He Jingxiu in the evening.
During these two days, He Jingxiu spent more time at her place than at his own, except for when he went to bed at night.
While Bo Ying slept at home, he found an excuse to say he needed to accompany He Pom Pom and brought his computer and documents over.
He sat in the living room handling documents, not overly disturbing Bo Ying, leaving her unable to find a reason to refuse him.
Of course, another key point was that with He Jingxiu around, her takeout meals became healthier and more upscale.
Neither of them mentioned the matter both of them were well aware of in their hearts.
Since He Jingxiu didn’t bring it up, Bo Ying certainly didn’t know how to mention it either. Moreover, their current way of getting along was quite nice, so they just let things take their natural course.
On Monday at the company, Bo Ying was contemplating her strange relationship with He Jingxiu when she was suddenly handed wedding candy by a colleague.
She was startled, a bit surprised. “Congratulations.”
The colleague smiled: “Thank you.”
Bo Ying was still astonished when Qiu Li asked, “Did you secretly get married behind our backs?”
This colleague had always had a boyfriend.
The colleague smiled faintly, “No.” She smiled sweetly, her tone cheerful. “My boyfriend proposed to me over the weekend. We’re planning to get married.”
“Wow.”
Her office colleagues hurriedly offered congratulations and blessings.
Bo Ying smiled, “I must quickly eat one to catch some good luck.”
Upon hearing this, Zhu Xiaxia looked at her. “Bo Ying, what you’re saying makes it sound like you don’t have a boyfriend?”
Bo Ying tore open the candy wrapper. “Not currently. Why?”
“Really?” Zhu Xiaxia and Du Nan exchanged glances, hinting indirectly. “But I’ve often seen someone picking you up. Isn’t that your boyfriend?”
Bo Ying smiled faintly, offering no explanation of who it was, only denying, “No.”
Upon hearing this, Zhu Xiaxia looked disbelieving. “Don’t hide it if you’re dating. Share with everyone; let us catch some good vibes.”
“Alright.” Bo Ying said openly. “If I really start dating, I’ll definitely tell everyone.”
Du Nan looked at her, smiling. “Young people nowadays prefer ambiguity rather than outright dating.”
Before Bo Ying could speak, Pei Yunmeng interjected, “That’s not entirely accurate. Ambiguity is based on mutual affection, but the thin layer of windowpane hasn’t been broken yet. Breaking that windowpane takes time, Sister Nan. You can’t start dating after just knowing each other for two days without thoroughly understanding each other, right?”
Du Nan choked, unwilling to offend her. “Hmm, Yunmeng has a point.”
She looked at Bo Ying. “Yingying, don’t be too picky. I’ve seen several different brand cars picking you up. If you keep picking and choosing, what if you miss out?”
Hearing her sarcastic remarks, Bo Ying’s face slightly darkened. “No need to worry about me, Sister Nan.”
She smiled faintly. “Even if I delay for another year, the person I choose will definitely still be waiting for me.”
This confidence, Bo Ying had.
It was confidence in herself and also in He Jingxiu.
Du Nan was speechless at her words, her face not looking good.
She forced a smile, pretending to be a wise elder. “Sister Nan is doing this for your own good.”
Bo Ying naturally responded, “Thank you.”
But her meaning was clear: mind your own business.
Other colleagues, hearing the underlying tension in their conversation, quickly changed the subject.
Thus, the debate ended.
But whether it was Bo Ying being sensitive or not, she always felt that after that day, whenever Du Nan and Zhu Xiaxia occasionally mentioned relationships in the office, they would make sarcastic remarks with hidden meanings.
Sometimes it was about news of gold-digging women, saying things like, or talking about women who deceive countless foolish men because of their beauty, etc.
The most outrageous was when a news story broke about someone setting up a “socialite training” class, training women to become socialites and then fishing for rich husbands.
Every time they talked about this, their gazes would occasionally drift towards Bo Ying.
Bo Ying found it exasperating but also amusing.
How could God’s deviation be so great, allowing some people’s minds to be so dark?
The scorching summer passed, and the lush branches lining the roads began to yellow.
Autumn arrived.
Bo Ying grew increasingly adept at work, never again missing any files.
Even if there were any issues, she could promptly provide evidence proving the fault wasn’t on her end.
Both Bo Ying and He Jingxiu were extremely busy over these two months. Apart from occasionally walking the dog together, they were mostly occupied with their own affairs.
Bo Ying enjoyed this busy period but occasionally felt a sense of loss.
Especially when Zheng Jinyao asked her about the progress of her relationship with He Jingxiu. In theory, they should have started dating long ago. Everything had already been cleared up previously, so there was no reason not to start.
Each time she was asked about this, Bo Ying innocently said, “You can’t rush me. You should rush He Jingxiu.”
Zheng Jinyao was speechless. “Is he stringing you along, or are you stringing him along?”
She continued, “Listen, dating is really wonderful. Stop being ambiguous with him. Tell him tonight that you want to date him.”
“...”
Bo Ying couldn’t help but laugh bitterly, reminding her, “If I remember correctly, the last time someone told me not to be too forward was you, right?”
Zheng Jinyao shrugged. “How was I supposed to know He Jingxiu would drag it out this long with you?”
Listening to her complaints, Bo Ying couldn’t help but chuckle.
She sipped her milk tea, her lips curving into a smile. “How do you know He Jingxiu isn’t capable?”
Zheng Jinyao was taken aback, glaring at her before engaging in some adult topics. “Whether he’s capable or not, you’ll need to verify and share with me later.”
Bo Ying momentarily choked, blushing and trying to hold her ground. “Rest assured, I’ll definitely be the first to share with you.”
Zheng Jinyao gave her a look that clearly said, “Of course, you’re my good sister,” making Bo Ying burst into laughter.
After sharing a laugh, Bo Ying explained, “He’s been extremely busy lately.”
While Bo Ying was busy, He Jingxiu was even busier. His company had several major projects ongoing, and he flew at least three or four times a week, more frequently than pilots.
He traveled between Beicheng, Jiangcheng, and overseas locations.
A few days ago, he returned, ate dinner with Bo Ying at home, and then flew off again.
In the gap while Bo Ying ordered takeout, the man fell asleep on her couch.
He Jingxiu’s busyness was different from Bo Ying’s level as a junior employee.
She understood that. Just like any top executive, every decision they made was carefully considered, repeatedly tested, and meticulously calculated.
No one reached the top effortlessly.
Hearing her explain this, Zheng Jinyao also showed understanding.
She sighed, resting her chin on her hand. “So when will President He return from this business trip?”
“If all goes well, next weekend.” Bo Ying asked, “Why?”
Zheng Jinyao glanced at her. “Have you forgotten? Our summer classmates’ reunion was postponed until next week.”
She humphed, “I was thinking you could bring He Jingxiu along.”
Bo Ying paused, opening her phone to check the calendar.
Indeed.
Their college classmates’ reunion was next Saturday evening.
She blinked slowly, looking at her. “But if I bring He Jingxiu, it won’t be official.”
Upon hearing this, Zheng Jinyao asked incredulously, “Can’t you just make your relationship official before the reunion?”
Bo Ying hesitated, looking at her. “Use more civilized wording.”
Zheng Jinyao: “...Are you going to make it official or not?”
Bo Ying blinked, hesitating. “Well, that depends on whether he can come back, right?”
“...”
