Psst! We're moving!
Le Ya figured that if Le Yijian were to see this, there would definitely be some kind of trouble. But if Chen Yang found out she was back, who knows what expression he’d have.
She had originally planned to wait a day or two after starting work to stabilize herself before going to see him—this way, she could arrange her schedule better.
But now, she couldn’t wait any longer. She decided to step outside and call Chen Yang. After a few seconds, the call connected: “Le Ya?”
Le Ya’s eyes curved slightly, her voice still soft and sweet: “I saw your press conference today, and what you said.”
In his office, Chen Yang raised his hand slightly.
The person giving the report immediately stopped talking, wondering if the name just mentioned belonged to the boss’s fiancée—it certainly sounded like a woman’s name.
He quickly exited the room, and just as the door closed, he heard the boss’s low, deep voice from inside: “Was I wrong?”
So much gentler than when he was working.
Le Ya countered softly: “Of course you were wrong. When did I become your fiancée? You’re just making things up.”
Her tone was still as soft as ever.
Chen Yang let out a chuckle: “It’s only a matter of time.”
After all, she wasn’t going anywhere.
Le Ya huffed lightly: “Don’t be so shameless. This is all hypothetical. And what about that game—is it really never going online?”
She had played that game again today.
Chen Yang asked: “Do you want it to?”
Le Ya initially wanted to say no because the game was her birthday gift—it belonged solely to her.
But then she changed her mind and asked: “Well, don’t others want to play it too? Is there nothing they can do about it?”
Chen Yang tapped his fingers on the desk. “If they want to, they can.”
Le Ya assumed he meant putting it online. She figured he probably already had a plan in mind, so there was nothing for her to interfere with—after all, she wasn’t an expert in the field.
A few minutes later, she returned to her seat.
Jiang Mei discreetly glanced at her a few times.
Le Ya thought for a moment and sent a message to Xie Qingyu: “Is Liang Qian free tonight?”
Xie Qingyu replied: “They’ll probably have to work overtime tonight.”
After all, the new game went live right after the press conference ended, and the first day was bound to be hectic.
Le Ya mentally prepared herself.
She returned to the Weibo interface and rewatched the press conference video for the second time. When she heard the final question, the corners of her lips involuntarily lifted.
As Jiang Mei passed by, she happened to catch a glimpse of Le Ya’s phone screen and nearly burst out laughing.
This man already had a fiancée, yet this newcomer seemed quite infatuated.
Jiang Mei reminded her: “He already has a fiancée.”
Le Ya gave a nonchalant “Oh.”
Jiang Mei continued: “So some people should know their place.”
Seeing Le Ya’s unbothered expression, Jiang Mei immediately jumped to conclusions, sneering and wanting to say more—but in the end, she simply walked away.
Le Ya watched her leave in surprise.
Wang Kefei, sitting across from her, awkwardly explained: “Don’t take it to heart. She didn’t mean it like that.”
Le Ya said: “It’s fine.”
Wang Kefei added: “She might be upset because her favorite idol just announced he has a fiancée.”
Le Ya was also feeling a bit down.
No one would be happy knowing their boyfriend was being admired by someone else, though she knew Jiang Mei’s chances of succeeding were absolutely zero.
Seeing her expression, Wang Kefei didn’t say anything further.
During the lunch break, a delivery person suddenly appeared outside the design department, bringing cups of drinks and desserts.
The girls loved these treats and excitedly exclaimed: “Who ordered afternoon tea today?”
The few male employees shook their heads.
Just as Le Ya was wondering, her phone vibrated.
It was a message from Le Yijian: “Dad ordered afternoon tea for you. Share it with your colleagues.”
Building good relationships wasn’t an easy task.
Le Ya felt warmth in her heart. She hadn’t expected Le Yijian to think so thoughtfully. Hearing the questioning voices around her, she walked over with a gentle smile. “My dad ordered this. Please enjoy it—it’s my treat for all your hard work today.”
Wang Kefei was genuinely surprised by how generous she was. On the first day of work, treating everyone was a great way to win favor.
She glanced at the items displayed and silently swallowed. They smelled absolutely delicious.
Everyone chimed in: “Uncle’s generosity is much appreciated.”
Le Ya had a separate bag with her favorite drink flavor.
The girl next to Wang Kefei whispered: “This is pretty expensive. Look at this—I usually buy it once a week, and even that hurts my wallet.”
She had specifically looked up the shop online.
Wang Kefei leaned over to take a closer look and nearly gasped out loud.
If one person were to drink it alone, it might just hurt a little. But treating an entire office? That was outright luxurious.
Could this newcomer possibly be a wealthy heiress…?
The more Wang Kefei thought about it, the more plausible it seemed. Over the next few hours, she couldn’t help but pay more attention to Le Ya.
And what she discovered was astonishing.
From head to toe, everything Le Ya wore didn’t seem like it came from recognizable brands—at least not ones Wang Kefei knew. Still, she checked using an image search app, and the results popped up instantly.
It turned out they weren’t unbranded—it was just that Wang Kefei had never heard of these particular styles from those brands.
She glanced at the prices listed below and swallowed hard.
This outfit wasn’t something an ordinary rich person could afford.
While everyone was enjoying the food and drinks, Su Hui appeared at Le’s company.
She had probably gotten the information from Le Yijian and went straight to the design department, where she spotted Le Ya’s workstation.
Technically, outsiders weren’t allowed to enter freely, but since everyone was enjoying the treats, they turned a blind eye.
Le Ya was pleasantly surprised: “What are you doing here? I’m still working—I’ll have time to hang out after work.”
Su Hui said: “I just wanted to check out your new workplace.”
To be honest, she had never been to Le’s company before, though she had received jewelry gifts from Le Ya and Le Yijian during her birthday.
Le Ya said: “Well, sit here for a bit.”
Su Hui, always quick to speak, glanced around and commented: “Le Ya, your environment seems pretty average. Don’t you have an office?”
Le Ya replied: “It’s only my first day.”
“That’s true,” Su Hui nodded and sat next to her. “Don’t tell Su Cheng I’m here.”
Le Ya asked: “Did you two fight again?”
Su Hui said: “One of his senior classmates wants to transfer to his company, and it’s driving me crazy. She used to like Su Cheng.”
Le Ya tilted her head. “Maybe Su Cheng didn’t think much of it.”
“It’s not that,” Su Hui frowned. “When I left Su Cheng’s office yesterday at noon, that woman gave me a nasty look.”
There was a rest area behind Su Cheng’s office. As an amateur manga artist, Su Hui had flexible working hours and often stayed there.
His senior classmate had come for an interview and bumped into her.
Su Hui was upset but didn’t want to confront Su Cheng directly. Since Le Ya had returned, she decided to visit her instead.
Anyway, Su Cheng had no idea where she had gone.
After finishing their milk tea, Le Ya prepared to go to the restroom, and Su Hui naturally accompanied her. Just as they entered, they heard some strange sounds coming from inside.
It was a peculiar noise.
Su Hui gestured for silence and listened carefully. In a low voice, she said: “It sounds like someone forcing themselves to vomit.”
Le Ya immediately understood.
Within seconds, the sound stopped, and the stall door opened. Jiang Mei stepped out and froze upon seeing the two of them outside.
She nervously washed her hands.
Le Ya stood behind her and said: “If you don’t like it, you don’t have to eat it. There’s no need to waste it like this.”
Jiang Mei snapped: “What’s it to you?”
Le Ya replied: “Because I paid for it, and you’re wasting it.”
Moreover, purging like this was harmful to her health. Most importantly, if she didn’t want to eat it, she shouldn’t waste it—better to not eat at all.
Jiang Mei trembled slightly. “Why are you being so hypocritical? Are you really that stingy about the money you spent on treating us? Once you treat us, isn’t it up to us to decide what to do with it?”
Her tone was stiff.
Su Hui interjected: “I’ve never seen someone as shameless as you.”
She hadn’t planned to say anything at first, but Jiang Mei’s previous comment was just too ridiculous. Su Hui couldn’t stand seeing Le Ya being bullied.
Jiang Mei’s face flushed red and white alternately. She sniffed disdainfully: “At least I’m not like some people who think they’re superior. Watching videos all morning and still unable to touch someone else’s face…”
She glanced meaningfully at Le Ya.
Though Le Ya was usually good-tempered, she wasn’t made of clay, easily crushed with a pinch. “How does watching a video concern you?”
And just like that, the topic changed abruptly.
Jiang Mei, caught off guard by her sharp retort, shot back: “Isn’t it dereliction of duty to be messing around during work hours? Are new employees really this audacious these days?”
Su Hui blinked innocently and said: “Didn’t you just spend half an hour chatting with your boyfriend earlier?”
She had overheard their cutesy conversation before.
Jiang Mei’s expression darkened, especially with her colleagues watching. Unwilling to let herself be outdone, she forced a bitter smile and arrogantly declared: “Well, at least I have a boyfriend—some people don’t.”
Her boyfriend worked for a Fortune 500 company and treated her well, so Jiang Mei loved to flaunt him.
Su Hui nearly burst out laughing at that.
Nowadays, people even used their boyfriends to belittle others? What kind of worldview was that? Why couldn’t everyone just live their own lives?
Su Hui sighed. “You really dare to say such things.”
Jiang Mei snorted coldly.
Su Hui tugged Le Ya away, raising her voice slightly before leaving: “Let’s go. We, the ones with fiancés, shouldn’t stoop to arguing with certain people.”
After leaving the restroom, Le Ya couldn’t help but chuckle.
She teased: “If Su Cheng finds out you’re openly admitting he’s your fiancé, he’ll definitely be thrilled.”
Su Hui said: “He can’t know.”
Or else he’d turn into a wolf.
When they returned to their seats, Le Ya noticed Jiang Mei looking unhappy and remarked: “Chen Yang probably surpasses her boyfriend by a hundred and eighty streets, doesn’t he?”
If Jiang Mei couldn’t measure up to him, she’d surely die of frustration.
Le Ya smiled faintly. “Is there even a comparison like that?”
“Don’t you think it’s fitting?” Su Hui said, irritated by Jiang Mei’s earlier bragging.
While Le Ya wasn’t paying attention, Su Hui fiddled with her phone for a bit.
Then, satisfied, she put it away.
Le’s working hours were from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
As it neared 5 p.m., many people began tidying their desks, preparing to leave as soon as the clock struck the hour.
Su Hui had already left half an hour ago, while Le Ya suddenly had a burst of inspiration and quickly sketched a draft on her paper.
The windowsill in the office was lined with many potted plants.
Wang Kefei walked over and poured the leftover water from her cup into one of the pots. Just as she was about to leave, she spotted a luxury car below.
Without thinking, she gasped, immediately drawing the attention of several nearby girls, who eagerly asked what was going on.
Within half a minute, the girls gathered together.
“Did you see his face when he got out of the car just now?”
“I only saw his figure—it’s absolutely perfect…”
“Is he a new client? If only I worked in the sales department instead of design—I wouldn’t even get to interact with someone like him!”
“I caught a glimpse of his profile—he’s so handsome I’m swooning. What do you think he’s here for?”
Jiang Mei squeezed her way to the front. “He’s probably a new client. Stop staring—it’s none of our business anyway.”
The commotion disrupted Le Ya’s drawing.
She paused, looking at the unfinished sketch—a delicate necklace design. If she worked hard tonight, she could probably finish it.
Le Ya unlocked her phone just as the clock struck five.
Deciding to take her draft with her, she packed it into her bag and prepared to leave. To her surprise, her colleagues had already bolted like rabbits.
Le Ya stood there dumbfounded, lagging behind them.
Even in the elevator, Wang Kefei and her coworkers continued discussing the man in the car below, their faces flushed with excitement.
“Hey, Le Ya, did you see him?”
Le Ya snapped back to reality. “See what?”
“The tall, rich, and handsome guy downstairs!” Wang Kefei grinned. “We’re all guessing if he’s the company’s new client.”
Le Ya replied slowly: “I didn’t see him.”
Wang Kefei reassured her: “No worries. He’ll probably still be there when we go down—you can take a closer look then.”
From the corner, Jiang Mei muttered: “Even if she looks, it’s not like he’s hers.”
The elevator doors opened.
Feeling cheerful, Le Ya quickened her pace and stepped out, ignoring Jiang Mei’s sarcastic remarks. She even considered reporting her behavior to Le Yijian later.
Having such an employee in the design department was affecting others’ moods.
Le Ya walked ahead, followed by the chattering girls. It wasn’t until they reached outside the company that Le Ya realized something was off.
There, leaning lazily against his car, stood Chen Yang. She still couldn’t believe her eyes.
Chen Yang lounged against the vehicle, glancing down at his phone. His brows were lowered, and with the sunset behind him, his relaxed demeanor was irresistibly attractive.
Le Ya’s phone buzzed.
Hearing the sound, Chen Yang looked up.
Before Le Ya could react, the man strode toward her, closing the distance between them in an instant. Their eyes met—his dark and intense, hers wide with surprise.
Dazed, she walked toward him.
Lost in thought, she failed to notice the steps beneath her feet and stumbled, just as she had in high school, grabbing onto Chen Yang’s shirt as she fell.
Chen Yang hadn’t changed out of his formal attire yet.
He reached out to steady her, pulling her into his arms. After so long, the person he had longed for was finally back in his embrace.
Le Ya’s nose bumped against his firm chest.
Behind them, Wang Kefei and the others froze, their eyes wide as they watched her fall into Chen Yang’s arms.
“This… is this an idol drama being filmed?”
“I never expected Le Ya to be so bold—she doesn’t look it at all. I really underestimated her.”
“A Cinderella falling into the arms of a CEO, marrying into wealth?”
“Damn, an eight-hundred-year-old trope still works? I should’ve tripped too…”
Wang Kefei was the first to snap back to reality. “Don’t you remember? Isn’t this the CEO of MOON we saw today?”
She had recognized him instantly.
Her colleagues, having only watched the first video earlier, found him familiar but hadn’t connected the dots until she reminded them.
Jiang Mei took a deep breath, staring at the two embracing figures in front of her. A strange smile appeared on her face as she spoke: “So now mistresses are in vogue?”
Everyone exchanged uneasy glances.
Wang Kefei thought of what she had discovered earlier and couldn’t help but say: “What if Le Ya really is his fiancée?”
She thought it was entirely possible.
Jiang Mei countered: “Do you really believe that?”
Wang Kefei had no evidence to explain, so she simply stopped talking.
The group behind them buzzed with gossip, while in front, Chen Yang couldn’t help but grunt softly: “You’re choking me.”
Le Ya hurriedly loosened her grip on his tie.
She had accidentally grabbed Chen Yang’s tie just now—if she had pulled any harder, something might’ve gone wrong.
Her ears turned red as she awkwardly straightened his tie. “I didn’t mean to.”
Her fingertips occasionally brushed against his neck.
She had never tied a tie for anyone before, so her clumsy movements were akin to playing with fire.
Chen Yang reached out to grasp her wrist, his Adam’s apple bobbing. Without another word, he pulled her into the car. “Forget about fixing it.”
Le Ya let out a soft “Ah.”
Chen Yang chuckled, leaning closer to whisper in her ear: “If you keep moving like that, I won’t be able to hold back.”
At first, Le Ya didn’t understand what he meant.
But when realization dawned on her, her face turned crimson. Still, she delivered the same line: “You’re such a pervert.”
