Psst! We're moving!
That last sentence carried a heavy sense of grievance.
Although Bo Ying hadn’t done anything wrong, she still felt a tiny bit guilty.
She realized that she probably shouldn’t have jumped to conclusions or doubted He Jingxiu based on hearsay.
Bo Ying rubbed her ears, lowered her eyes, and started typing a reply, but deleted it after writing a line.
After repeating this twice, she truly didn’t know what to say.
Explanations wouldn’t clarify anything, and saying “thank you” felt too formal. At this moment, she didn’t want to thank He Jingxiu.
Just as she was struggling, Chi Lü called her for dinner.
Decisively, Bo Ying sent He Jingxiu an ellipsis followed by: [I’m going to eat.]
He Jingxiu didn’t press her. After responding, she put down her phone.
Dinner was prepared by Boyan himself, with Chi Lü assisting.
Under normal circumstances, Bo Ying wouldn’t receive such special treatment from her brother. Looking at the table full of aromatic dishes, she was famished.
She raised an eyebrow, not waiting for Boyan to come out, and tasted the food first.
“Mmm…” Bo Ying closed her eyes in delight, showering Boyan with compliments. “So delicious!”
She gave him a thumbs-up. “Brother, if your company goes bankrupt, you can consider opening a restaurant. I guarantee I’ll pay to eat there.”
No sooner had she spoken than Boyan tapped her head.
Boyan glared at her, his sharp tongue lashing out. “Even if you get fired, my company won’t go bankrupt.”
Bo Ying: “….”
She stuck her tongue out at him, grumbling. “Don’t curse me. If I get fired, you’ll have to support me, and you definitely won’t want that.”
Bo Ying believed that even without the “old acquaintance” connection with He Jingxiu, she wouldn’t be fired.
Boyan looked at her. “You seem quite proud to be supported.”
“Of course.” Bo Ying grinned. “It’s a happy thing. Why can’t I be proud?”
Chi Lü was amused by the sibling banter, curving her lips slightly. “Don’t worry. Even if your brother doesn’t support you, I will.”
Bo Ying clung to Chi Lü’s arm affectionately. “Waaah, Chi Lü is so nice to me.”
Boyan coldly eyed her. “Let go of your hands.”
“…” Bo Ying awkwardly released her grip, speechless. “Are you saying I can’t even touch your girlfriend anymore?”
Boyan: “You got it.”
The siblings kept bickering, and usually, Bo Ying would lose.
Her mouth ran non-stop, while Boyan, when in a good mood, would humor her, but when in a bad mood, he could make her cry with one sharp remark. Whenever that happened, Bo Ying would seek Chi Lü’s help. She knew Boyan’s weak spot—he feared no one and could retort to anyone, except his girlfriend.
This meal was filled with laughter, and although Bo Ying was heavily teased, she was still very happy.
She loved being with her family.
After eating, she volunteered to wash the dishes but was rejected by Boyan.
There was a dishwasher, so she wasn’t needed.
Bo Ying stood there for a moment, thought about it, and then quietly returned to her room.
She wasn’t suitable to stay outside as a glaring third wheel.
A knock sounded, and Bo Ying had just finished her bath.
She wiped her wet hair and responded, “The door’s unlocked.”
Seeing Chi Lü enter, Bo Ying raised an eyebrow. “Did my brother leave?”
Her brother had moved downstairs to pursue his girlfriend.
Chi Lü nodded. “Shall I blow-dry your hair?”
“Yes.” Bo Ying happily handed her the towel.
She sat comfortably in the chair, playing with her phone and yawning, muttering, “With technology so advanced now, why hasn’t someone invented a machine that washes and dries hair together?”
“…”
Chi Lü couldn’t help but laugh, rubbing her half-dry hair. “Are you too lazy to even dry your hair?”
“So troublesome.” Bo Ying complained pitifully. “Every day, the most troubling thing isn’t washing my hair—it’s drying it.”
She truly disliked doing this.
Chi Lü curved her lips slightly, understanding.
After drying her hair, Bo Ying looked at her. “Why did you come find me, Chi Lü? Won’t my brother blame me for wasting your time tonight?”
Chi Lü chuckled. “What are you talking about?”
Bo Ying huffed. “My brother is too stingy.”
She said, “I don’t even want to eat your couple feed anymore.”
Chi Lü shrugged. “Actually, I wanted to talk to you about that.”
Bo Ying was startled, looking up at her.
Chi Lü explained, “Didn’t you mention before that living here makes you wake up half an hour earlier for work and that you wanted a place near the company?”
Bo Ying had indeed said that, and she really wanted to move out.
Since returning from abroad, she had been staying with Chi Lü.
Given their relationship, even if she stayed with Chi Lü her whole life, Chi Lü wouldn’t mind or kick her out.
However, Bo Ying always felt that she should become independent and stop being a glaring third wheel.
She paused, her eyes sparkling. “Did my brother find me a place?”
Chi Lü nodded. “In Junting Bay.”
“Ah?” Hearing that name, Bo Ying was momentarily stunned. “Junting Bay?”
Chi Lü looked at her expression, leaning close to her. “Do you dislike it?”
“No.”
Bo Ying grabbed a pillow, covering half her face, whispering softly, “Does He Jingxiu live there? Does my brother know?”
“…” Chi Lü froze for a few seconds, laughing helplessly. “I guess he doesn’t.”
If Boyan knew, he definitely wouldn’t suggest that place for Bo Ying. Though he appeared indifferent to Bo Ying, he was actually very protective of her.
She gazed at Bo Ying, poking her chubby cheeks playfully. “Do you want to live there?”
Bo Ying blinked. “Is that house my brother bought before?”
“Mm-hmm.” Chi Lü nodded. “But it hasn’t been lived in. Your brother said that if you like it, they’ll redecorate according to your preferences.”
The house was already decorated; only minor adjustments were needed.
Upon hearing this, Bo Ying didn’t hesitate. “Alright, I’ll check it out after work tomorrow?”
“You can go whenever you want,” Chi Lü told her. “But the premise is that you must want to move out on your own, not because you feel uncomfortable living here.”
Bo Ying suppressed a smile, knowing what she meant.
“Rest assured, I’ll definitely come back to bother you often.”
Chi Lü raised an eyebrow. “That’s not certain. Once you fall in love, it’ll be hard for us to meet up with you.”
Bo Ying: “…Impossible. I’m not the type to forget friends for love.”
As she spoke, she felt a little guilty again.
Chi Lü glanced at her knowingly, confidently saying, “We’ll see.”
“…”
After viewing the apartment the next day, Bo Ying decided to take the place in Junting Bay.
There was no other reason—just the advantage of a ten-minute commute to work. Even if she didn’t like the house, she’d take it.
Moreover, there was nothing wrong with this house.
Floor-to-ceiling windows surrounded the space, offering views of the sunrise and sunset from the balcony.
Similar to He Jingxiu’s place, it was a duplex. The first floor had a living room, kitchen, guest room, and study, while the second floor housed the master bedroom, walk-in closet, home theater, and an empty room for whatever use.
Once the house was settled, Bo Ying enthusiastically began picking out small items.
This was entirely her own house, and she wanted every corner filled with things she liked.
The house was already beautifully decorated in a style she adored, so no major renovations were needed. She only had to buy some furniture she liked, arrange them, and she could move in.
Bo Ying spent her free time browsing home goods and occasionally asked He Jingxiu for his opinion.
There was no particular reason; purely because Boyan was too busy to bother with her, so she turned to He Jingxiu, whose taste she trusted.
Bo Ying discovered that He Jingxiu had impeccable taste. The colors and items he helped choose complemented her house perfectly—not only comfortable but also eye-catching.
More importantly, he was patient. Bo Ying suffered from decision paralysis and could agonize over buying something for half an hour. Boyan would’ve lost patience long ago, but He Jingxiu wouldn’t.
He would analyze things for Bo Ying and give her time to make a final choice.
One day, Bo Ying found herself stuck again, torn between two color choices.
Glancing around, she saw her colleagues were all busy, so she messaged He Jingxiu.
Bo Ying: [Which of these two colors do you think is better?]
He Jingxiu replied quickly: [Which one do you like more?]
Bo Ying: [I like both, but if I must choose, I think I prefer the baby yellow. But I’m worried there might be a color difference between the online image and the actual product.]
He Jingxiu: [Go to the store and see.]
Bo Ying: [? Is there a physical store?]
Most of the things she bought were rare designs from foreign designers, typically shipped by air.
He Jingxiu: [Yes. Do you want to go after work today or on Saturday?]
He usually wouldn’t ask if Bo Ying wanted him to accompany her; he would only ask which day she preferred to go.
Sometimes, Bo Ying felt that He Jingxiu was quite crafty. He often made decisions for her that she couldn’t refuse before she even made a choice.
She stared at his message for a while and typed: [Saturday.]
It was June, and the weather was gradually warming up.
On Saturday, Bo Ying woke up early, fussed around in her room, and hurriedly left.
When she reached the entrance of the complex, He Jingxiu was leaning against the car, looking at his phone.
He wore black pants, a white T-shirt, and a light blue shirt over it, giving off a sunny boy-next-door vibe.
He Jingxiu had a great physique—broad shoulders, narrow waist, long arms, and legs. He looked good no matter what he wore.
Looking at him, Bo Ying felt like he was a male model stepping out of a magazine spread, stylish and trendy.
Perhaps due to her intense gaze, He Jingxiu lifted his eyes from his phone and looked straight at her.
Upon seeing Bo Ying’s outfit, his expression subtly paused.
Bo Ying had spent an hour that morning deliberating and chose a puff-sleeved doll dress. The dress was made of soft yet structured denim fabric in a light blue color.
It made her look slimmer and younger, showing off her slender, fair legs, which glowed under the sunlight.
He Jingxiu’s gaze traveled from top to bottom, lingering briefly on her legs before returning to her cheeks.
Under his gaze, Bo Ying’s steps slowed.
Feeling uneasy, she touched her neatly braided pigtails and greeted him calmly, “Am I late?”
He Jingxiu looked into her round, apricot eyes, walked around to open the car door, and said indifferently, “No.”
“Oh.” Bo Ying bent down to get in. “Thank you.”
He Jingxiu acknowledged her, walking around to the driver’s seat.
After fastening her seatbelt, Bo Ying felt inexplicably nervous.
Though she didn’t know why she was nervous, she was.
She sneakily glanced at the person beside her. “How long will it take us to get there?”
He Jingxiu glanced. “An hour if there’s no traffic.”
Bo Ying exclaimed, “Ah? That’s a long time.”
“Did you have breakfast?”
“No.”
He Jingxiu knew her well and pointed behind. “There’s a sandwich and milk in the bag.”
Bo Ying was startled, turning to stare at him.
“What are you looking at me for?”
He Jingxiu lowered his lashes, gazing at her. “Eat something first. We’ll grab a proper meal later.”
Bo Ying silently curved her lips, reaching for the bag in front.
Lowering her eyes, she suppressed the joy in her pupils. “Got it.”
The bag contained not only what he mentioned but also mineral water and snacks that Bo Ying loved.
She secretly rejoiced as she took a sandwich.
“Did you eat?”
After taking a couple of bites, Bo Ying remembered to ask He Jingxiu.
He Jingxiu glanced at her briefly. “No.”
“Ah?”
Bo Ying froze, lowering her eyes to look inside the bag. Holding the half-eaten sandwich, she asked, “What about you?”
She furrowed her brows. “Why didn’t you say so earlier? If you had, I would’ve eaten the snacks instead.”
Seeing her nervous expression, He Jingxiu’s eyes flashed with amusement.
His hand rested on the steering wheel, fingers lightly tapping, pretending to ponder. “Half each?”
Bo Ying blinked. “But I’ve already bitten into it.”
He Jingxiu remained calm, following the car ahead and pressing the brake. “I don’t mind. Or are you bothered?”
Bo Ying: “…………”
