Psst! We're moving!
Completely unaware that he was being labeled a “beast,” Chen Yang calmly applied a regular band-aid to Le Ya’s forehead.
It was just an ordinary one, not like the girly cartoon-themed ones Le Ya used to use back in high school.
It looked a bit silly on the forehead.
Le Ya touched her forehead and couldn’t help but laugh a little. “It’s really nothing serious, don’t treat me like I’m made of porcelain.”
It was just a bump—it would fade soon enough.
Chen Yang didn’t argue with her about it. He sat next to her and asked, “Are you going back to work later, or are you going somewhere?”
Le Ya replied, “I took the day off.”
Chen Yang didn’t get it at first, then suddenly smiled. “Then you can hang out here, and I’ll take you out in the evening.”
Le Ya nodded obediently.
Chen Yang had a tablet at the office loaded with some mobile games developed by the company. “You can play any of them.”
Le Ya tapped into them one by one and played for a bit.
The offline games were okay—some were puzzle games, others were just simple adventure games. The rest were online multiplayer games.
Le Ya had never really played games before.
She was using Chen Yang’s account—not an admin account, just a regular one—and as soon as she entered one of the games, a flood of messages popped up.
She stared blankly for a moment before clicking to check.
They were all similar—invites to join guilds, requests for in-game sugar daddies, or people asking for help leveling up, all clearly written in a “girly” tone.
She huffed quietly to herself.
Le Ya scrolled through a bit but didn’t want to see whether Chen Yang had actually chatted with any of them. When she checked his profile, she found he was ranked number one on all sorts of leaderboards.
While she was checking, an invite popped up.
She declined it.
Then it popped up again.
After declining it five times in a row, the person kept inviting her. It made playing the game impossible, and the pop-ups were getting really annoying.
The sixth time, she accidentally tapped “Accept.”
Once she entered the team, she quickly typed in the chat, “Sorry, I’m not good at this—I’ll leave.”
But someone replied:
“It’s okay if you’re not good.”
“We’re going in now.”
Before she could exit, the screen changed and they were transported into a dungeon. Crows flew past the screen.
Le Ya really had no idea what she was doing. She hurriedly scanned her skill list and just followed them around wildly mashing buttons. Somehow, maybe by sheer luck, they made it all the way to the third boss.
That’s when things went south.
Le Ya didn’t understand what happened, but the whole team was wiped out.
The in-game voice chat was still on, and as soon as they exited the dungeon, the team members started blaming each other—and soon, all the blame fell on her.
Le Ya had been using headphones so she wouldn’t disturb Chen Yang. Only she could hear the voices.
Hearing them yell at her made her anxious and upset. She had clearly said she wasn’t good at the game, yet they’d insisted on dragging her in.
She didn’t want to use voice chat, so she typed back to argue with them.
But typed responses are no match for people yelling into voice chat. The group was clearly on the same side, and now that they had a scapegoat, they were all piling on her.
The office had suddenly gone quiet. Chen Yang glanced toward the sofa.
Le Ya was sitting with her head lowered, hair falling over her ears. Every blink made her lashes flutter, her lips pressed tightly together in visible frustration.
Chen Yang froze for a second, then got up and walked over.
Just then, another nasty message popped up on the screen. His face instantly darkened as he grabbed the tablet.
Le Ya looked up, saying, “I didn’t do it on purpose. I shouldn’t have played the game in the first place…”
Now things had turned into this mess.
Chen Yang sat beside her. Le Ya could only see his slender fingers moving across the screen, swift and dazzling—it was hard to even follow.
She leaned over for a better look and saw that all four players were lying dead on the ground. Several censored messages kept popping up onscreen—it was almost comical.
She gasped, “You wiped them all out? That’s amazing!”
Chen Yang pulled his hand back and patted her head. “Next time something like this happens, don’t bother arguing. Just report them.”
Le Ya nodded. “Okay.”
Meanwhile, chaos was erupting in the game world.
A few game moderators and the carefree Liang Qian were watching the game’s announcement board refresh over and over again.
Someone in the group chat said: “I heard CEO Chen is going on a killing spree.”
Not long after, Chen Yang’s in-game account was posted on the official forum by the players he had killed, along with dramatic complaints.
People began gossiping and watching the drama unfold.
But within a minute, all the players involved were banned.
The moderators had received word from the secretary and acted fast—ban, mute, report, all done in one smooth go.
They stayed like that until evening. The sunset streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Le Ya, hugging the tablet, watched a romance movie. She was alone on the sofa, her heart bursting with romantic feelings, and she messaged Xie Qingyu at the same time.
Xie Qingyu had been stressed lately.
She messaged: “A coworker’s getting married. How much should I give for the red envelope?”
Le Ya replied: “If you’re not close, just a small amount is fine.”
Xie Qingyu: “You don’t get it. Just in our grade level, eight teachers are getting married or having kids this semester, and they all invited me.”
Xie Qingyu: “But I’m not even close with them!”
She only knew the teachers in her own office. Teachers from other grades barely crossed paths with her, yet they were still sending her invitations.
Clearly, it was just for the red envelopes.
Xie Qingyu didn’t lack the money, but she didn’t want to be taken advantage of—why spend for people she didn’t even know?
Le Ya: “Then just don’t go.”
Now that she thought about it, hardly anyone had invited her to weddings either. Maybe it was because her old classmates were all still single or only dating, not ready for marriage yet.
Who knows—she might even be the first to get married.
Thinking about that, Le Ya sneaked a glance at Chen Yang, then immediately felt she was overthinking it—after all, the man himself hadn’t made any moves yet.
She sighed softly.
After some thought, she went browsing through online stores. Something Jiang Mei had shown her in the morning had sparked her interest.
She searched through a few of her go-to brands and placed some orders. She usually shopped in physical stores, so this was her first time buying bags online.
Shopping always lifts the mood. Le Ya’s spirits soared quickly.
She didn’t know how long had passed when the secretary knocked and entered from outside. “President Chen, Director Wen is here, he’s in the conference room.”
Chen Yang didn’t even look up. “Okay.”
Director Wen is an up-and-coming filmmaker, here this time for the topic of his new movie. His film is about games, so he plans to have MOON invest in it.
If things go well, the game inside the movie might directly use MOON’s games, collaborating on development, or it could be a game already released.
About a minute later, Chen Yang finished handling his current tasks and then asked, “You’re staying here?”
Le Ya nodded, “Okay.”
Chen Yang thought for a moment, then said, “You should come with me.”
The secretary, having worked for several years, naturally understood his meaning and quickly said, “Yes, yes, Miss Le, I still have some things to do!”
He immediately understood what was going on, decisively placed the documents on the table, and made a quick exit.
Le Ya reached out her hand but then pulled it back. “He left like that—what will you do later? You can’t manage without a secretary, right?”
Chen Yang looked at her and said, “Don’t you still have me?”
Le Ya replied, “I’ve never done those things before.”
She didn’t even want to mention the secretary work—she rarely took notes; her job was mostly drawing. Everything else was done by others.
Chen Yang said, “Just go and observe.”
Le Ya could only follow behind him. Fortunately, it was just Director Wen this time, and it wasn’t a formal discussion, so she didn’t have to take any notes.
This was the first time Le Ya saw Chen Yang like this.
Like an emperor, taking everything in at a glance.
Le Ya couldn’t help but look at him, feeling that the charm radiating from him was irresistible.
Halfway through the discussion, the secretary suddenly came in and whispered something in his ear. Chen Yang’s expression turned serious as he said, “Director Wen, let’s end it here for today.”
Director Wen was stunned. His well-prepared speech was completely useless, as he was being led around by Chen Yang.
Le Ya followed Chen Yang out.
Director Wen called out to her, “Please wait a moment.”
Le Ya instinctively stopped, “What is it?”
Director Wen had seen many women in the entertainment industry but had never encountered someone with Le Ya’s kind of good temperament and openness—she could easily be a leading actress.
After thinking seriously, he prepared to invite her, “I wonder if you have any intention of entering the entertainment industry?”
Le Ya was stunned and said, “No.”
Director Wen looked a bit disappointed but still tried to persuade her, “Being a star earns much more money than being a secretary. Don’t you want to make money?”
Le Ya said, “No.”
Director Wen was speechless.
There really are people in this world who don’t want to make money.
Before he could prepare the next round of invitations, Chen Yang, who had been walking ahead, suddenly turned and said, “Director Wen, trying to poach people?”
Director Wen felt a chill down his back.
He gritted his teeth, “No, President Chen, you misunderstood.”
Director Wen’s gaze fell on the two of their hands, wondering if the seemingly reserved President Chen and his secretary had something going on.
Thinking about it, it seemed plausible.
Many bosses hire beautiful secretaries, often their own mistresses, just for convenient trysts.
Le Ya scratched Chen Yang’s palm.
Chen Yang squeezed her hand tightly, his eyes showing a dangerous look.
This scene, seen by Director Wen, looked like a secret exchange of affection, further deepening his suspicions and making him lament the decline of morals.
Back in the office, Le Ya couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
Chen Yang asked, “Do you want to be a star?”
Le Ya shook her head, “No.”
Chen Yang was satisfied. He didn’t want her in the spotlight because everyone would see her there.
She should be hidden by him.
Half an hour later.
Seeing him focused on work, Le Ya didn’t want to disturb him and quietly pushed the door open to leave.
Not far outside, the secretary was talking with Director Wen. Seeing her, Director Wen again tried to invite her into the entertainment industry.
Director Wen earnestly persuaded, “Really, your image suits the big screen. If you’re willing, my latest film could invite you as the lead actress.”
Le Ya was surprised, “Thanks, but no thanks.”
“If you stay here too long, you’ll end up hurt,” Director Wen changed tactics, “Once you have money, you can do whatever you want.”
Le Ya blinked, “I already have a lot of money.”
Director Wen retorted, “Do you have as much as this company?”
Le Ya thought seriously, “No.”
“That’s exactly why,” Director Wen smiled, “Although being in the entertainment industry might not get you as much as this company has, in the future, you’ll only be a little behind.”
The secretary listened, dumbfounded.
Is this director so desperate to poach people that he says anything without knowing the situation?
Le Ya found his logic amusing and joked, “President Chen has money, so I have money.”
Director Wen said, “Miss Secretary, you…”
Le Ya politely interrupted, “My surname is Le.”
Director Wen laughed awkwardly. “Secretary Le, although President Chen isn’t married yet…”
Can a secretary really rise that far?
Suddenly, the door opened behind them, and Chen Yang’s dark voice came, “What are you two talking about?”
Le Ya was startled.
Recalling what she just said and Chen Yang’s earlier public statement, she simply said, “We were talking about you being my boyfriend.”
Chen Yang raised an eyebrow, his gaze landing on her eyes, denying, “Not boyfriend, fiancé.”
Le Ya glared at him.
Director Wen, ignored, blinked in confusion, “Wait, what did President Chen just say?”
The secretary kindly reminded, “Fiancé.”
After being brought back to the office, Chen Yang lowered his head and rubbed against her face, speaking in a low voice, “You only stepped away for a moment and already got noticed.”
Outside, footsteps faded away.
Le Ya softly said, “He just wanted me to be a star. I refused, so stop making things up all day.”
Chen Yang: “...”
His fingers brushed her lips, the calloused skin tickling a bit, “What were you saying to him just now? Say it again.”
Le Ya said annoyed, “Haven’t I already said it?”
Chen Yang: “I want to hear it again.”
He always liked hearing her say things over and over, like a broken record, and he never got tired of it.
The man was right in front of her, his breath mingling with hers, his dark eyes fixed on her without blinking.
Le Ya recalled a scene from the movie she watched today and suddenly got interested. She wrapped her arms around Chen Yang’s waist, pressed against him.
Chen Yang tensed up instinctively.
Le Ya stood on tiptoe, leaned to his ear, and softly said with sweet voice, “I said you’re my boyfriend.”
Chen Yang hadn’t even reacted yet.
After a few seconds, Le Ya’s feet got tired, and resting on him, she changed her words on her own, “No, you’re my fiancé.”
