Psst! We're moving!
The boys’ and girls’ dormitories in university were quite different from those in high school, not just in terms of location but also layout.
Tang Yin’s dormitory was in Building 6, while the Foreign Languages School and Medical School were far apart. However, they were on the same road, with Building 6 being closer to the cafeteria where registration took place.
The two walked side by side to the intersection.
Tang Yin said to him, “You go to your dormitory first. We’ll contact each other later and then have dinner.”
Lu Chi hesitated for a moment and didn’t agree. Softly, he said, “That senior mentioned we could enter the girls’ dormitory.”
Tang Yin was startled, not expecting him to remember that detail. “You really want to come in with me? No way. What if so many girls see you and fall for you?”
Lu Chi stared at her.
In the end, Tang Yin gave in. “Alright, come in, come in.”
After all, how could she resist his good looks?
At the entrance of Building 6, parents and new students were bustling about, carrying large and small bags. Some seniors and juniors were there to assist them.
Having declined such services, they had to handle everything themselves.
Inside, Tang Yin received her dormitory key, locker key, bed assignment, and together with Lu Chi, entered the dormitory building.
Since registration lasted three days, not everyone arrived on the first day.
As a prestigious university, S University naturally had better facilities than high schools. The dormitory conditions were pretty good. Luckily, Tang Yin’s room was on the first floor, sparing her the trouble of climbing stairs—a common nuisance in these dorms.
Upon pushing open the dormitory door, Tang Yin saw a round-faced girl eating an apple, while what seemed to be her parents were making her bed.
Lu Chi quickly scanned the entire dormitory. It was spacious, with individual beds and lockers, a balcony, bathroom, very clean, and looked brand new.
Initially, Tang Yin planned with her family to endure the military training period and then move out afterward.
She had checked; S University did not strictly require students to live in dormitories as long as parents agreed and the counselor signed off.
Thus, she brought very few belongings.
The round-faced girl greeted her proactively: “Hello, I’m Zhao Le.”
Tang Yin replied: “Tang Yin, and this is my boyfriend, Lu Chi.”
Zhao Le curiously asked: “Is he also from our school?”
“Medical School,” Tang Yin responded briefly. She had no intention of introducing Lu Chi to her yet-to-be-known dorm mates.
Realizing she didn’t want to say more, Zhao Le didn’t press further.
Not long after, the remaining two girls arrived, their eyes lingering on Lu Chi beside Tang Yin for quite some time.
Feeling uncomfortable, Tang Yin hastily packed up and left the dormitory with Lu Chi.
Shortly after the start of the semester came the military training.
Each department trained in a different location, each class forming its own block. Occasionally, while practicing marching, one could see other departments.
The weather was hot, and the drill instructor here didn’t dare to be too strict. A girl had suffered from heatstroke on the second day, and most students were relatively delicate.
During breaks, he let everyone rest in the shade. Fortunately, trees lined the main roads, providing ample shade.
Occasional breezes made it slightly cooler.
With more girls in the Foreign Languages School came more gossip.
“Just now, was that the Physical Education Department passing by? No wonder they’re tall. In our class, out of five boys, only one is over 180 cm—pitiful.”
“Don’t mention it—it makes my heart ache.”
“Why did I choose Business English? There are more boys in the Teacher Training English program.”
“Ah, I was a science student—I could only choose Business English.”
The chatter reached Tang Yin’s ears. She pulled out her phone and thoughtfully sent Lu Chi a message.
Beside her, Zhao Le spoke up: “Sending a message to your doctor?”
Tang Yin narrowed her eyes, pressing a bottle of mineral water to her face. “Yes.”
Military training had been going on for about a week. Tang Yin got along well with Zhao Le in the dormitory, while her relationship with the other two roommates was average.
Ever since learning that Lu Chi was studying clinical medicine, Zhao Le liked to refer to him as “your doctor.”
This nickname pleased Tang Yin immensely.
They were in Business English Class 1. Perhaps classes were divided based on scores, though Tang Yin wasn’t entirely sure. There were a few rather arrogant girls who didn’t seem to like her much.
Of course, if they didn’t bother her, she ignored them.
There was only one self-introduction session at the start of the semester. In the class, Tang Yin mostly only conversed with the three people in her dormitory.
Suddenly, a voice interrupted: “Doctor? Does Tang Yin have a boyfriend already? And he’s working in society?”
Though not loud, the comment carried to half the class.
Several girls glanced over, sizing her up with curious gazes, then whispered among themselves.
Tang Yin’s attire and demeanor resembled that of a wealthy young lady. Nowadays, there were indeed many college students involved outside.
Tang Yin furrowed her brow, choosing not to respond.
The girl giggled coyly: “Sorry, I didn’t mean to. I didn’t know you hadn’t told others.”
“It’s none of your business,” Tang Yin said indifferently.
The girl’s expression stiffened, feeling perhaps Tang Yin was both embarrassed and angry, otherwise why would she suddenly become so assertive.
Beside her, Zhao Le felt uneasy: “What do you mean by ‘society’? He’s from the Medical School.”
Truthfully, she thought Tang Yin and Lu Chi were a perfect match.
By evening, the military training finally ended.
After a full day of training, plus the previous week, Tang Yin felt her soles might have blistered.
Yesterday, there were signs of blisters forming, and it hurt a bit.
Around her, people sat in twos and threes on the roadside, reluctant to return immediately because they were too exhausted.
Zhao Le had already taken off her shoes, throwing the padding paper into a nearby trash bin, groaning: “Oh my goodness, my feet are broken.”
Seeing Tang Yin massaging her ankle, her expression still fine, Zhao Le wasn’t worried. “If someone could give me a massage tonight, that’d be great.”
Tang Yin glanced at her, smiling: “You can go outside the school—there are professional massages.”
Zhao Le whispered: “Then tomorrow the whole school will probably know I went. My image will be ruined. Speaking of which, last time I saw a few people who looked like our seniors—they probably went.”
Just as Tang Yin was about to respond, her phone vibrated.
LuLuLu: Where are you?
Tang Yin lightly tapped her fingers, replying: “At the corner of Mingde Road.”
She knew Lu Chi recognized the place. They hadn’t seen each other much in the past few days, returning to their respective dormitories after military training.
Thinking about it, it felt pitiable.
Tang Yin stood up, pain shooting through her soles, causing her to sit back down with a frown.
Zhao Le asked: “Are your feet blistered? I told you to pad them. Sanitary napkins work best; if not, tissue is okay too.”
High school military training lasted only a week, easy to endure. Back then, Jiashui Private School wasn’t strict. Initially, Tang Yin thought university training wouldn’t be much either.
Then she suffered.
Tang Yin exhaled: “I’ll try tomorrow. Tonight, I’ll pop the blisters.”
As they were talking, Zhao Le noticed everyone’s gaze shift to the right. Turning her head, she exclaimed: “Oh my, your doctor is here!”
The term “doctor” was familiar to the girls in Business English Class 1.
Zhao Le had mentioned it several times to Tang Yin in the past few days; everyone knew, and privately, many assumed he was likely someone from outside society.
Tang Yin turned to look.
It was her first time seeing Lu Chi in military training uniform.
The deep green camouflage made his skin appear even whiter, tall and straight, with a perfectly exquisite figure and face that stunned many girls. As he moved, lifting his head, his narrow eyes beneath the cap brim were revealed.
Zhao Le couldn’t help but exclaim: “Goodness, your doctor is so handsome. Sigh.”
Why hadn’t she met a handsome one? None of the boys in her class caught her eye.
Tang Yin proudly raised her chin slightly, feeling pleased. Zhao Le praising her partner meant implicitly praising her taste.
She waved her hand.
Thus, numerous girls watched the young man walk directly toward them without glancing at anyone else.
It was infuriating.
How could such a handsome person be snatched away by that annoying Tang Yin? So unfair—they wanted to beat her up.
The girl who spoke earlier realized that Zhao Le’s reference to a doctor really meant a medical student.
Finally, Lu Chi sat beside Tang Yin, handing her something, softly asking: “Tired?”
Tang Yin exclaimed in delight: “Ah, yogurt!” She hadn’t had yogurt in a long time—it felt pitiable.
“Tired. But seeing you makes me feel better.” While inserting the straw and sipping the yogurt, she asked: “Is your training tiring? I heard there are fewer shaded areas over there.”
By now, Lu Chi was unfazed by her teasing, nodding slightly. Indeed, there were fewer shaded areas. “It’s manageable.”
He always spoke little, and with outsiders around, he spoke even less.
Tang Yin slurped the yogurt down, preparing to throw the empty container into the trash can.
Several girls secretly watching felt excited—the best scenario would be if she missed, leading to ultimate embarrassment.
Surprisingly, the yogurt container flew in a graceful arc, landing accurately in the trash can.
Her aim was precise, akin to her basketball skills. Tang Yin whistled. “Let’s go back and have dinner.”
Lu Chi replied: “Alright.”
As they prepared to stand up, Zhao Le chuckled inwardly, “Dr. Lu, your Tang Yin has blisters on her feet.”
Lu Chi glanced at Tang Yin.
Tang Yin obediently said: “It’s military training. Blisters are normal. I’m not made of porcelain.”
Before she finished speaking, Lu Chi had already removed her shoes and socks, holding her small, white feet in his hands.
Her soles were red, with several blisters, mostly worn out, indicating the hardship she endured during this time.
Lu Chi’s heart tightened. Gently rubbing, he firmly stated: “We need to apply medicine.”
“Okay, okay, apply medicine.” Tang Yin laughed uncontrollably as he rubbed: “Haha, Lu Chi, stop rubbing or I’ll die laughing.”
A slight smile graced Lu Chi’s lips, against the backdrop of drooping willows, like stepping out of a manga.
He stood up, squatting halfway in front of her, saying: “Get on.”
Though softly spoken, his tone brooked no refusal.
Tang Yin always knew when she could refuse and when she couldn’t. Refusing now would make Lu Chi very unhappy.
She leaned forward, wrapping her arms around his neck.
Being carried by him in front of so many people felt fantastic.
Long after the two had walked far away, the girls in the class finally snapped out of their daze.
Left behind, Zhao Le silently thought: Lu Chi must treat Tang Yin like a porcelain doll. Look at how concerned he is.
