Psst! We're moving!
Yu Qing glanced casually and noticed two cars slowly driving along the roadside, their speed not much faster than Fu Jichen’s pace as he carried her.
She looked back again and saw two men, not particularly tall but dressed in sportswear, walking about ten meters behind them while glancing around.
Whether it was the people behind them or the cars by the road, they were all there to ensure Fu Jichen’s safety.
As the boss, Fu Jichen surely knew there were cars and people following him.
He pretended not to notice, so her vision must have been worse than his.
Yu Qing shifted her gaze back to Fu Jichen. After walking for over fifteen minutes, she noticed his breathing had grown heavier.
The rain gradually stopped, and the droplets falling on the umbrella were now sparse, no longer forming a continuous stream.
Fu Jichen looked at her. He couldn’t hold on any longer—walking in the water for ten minutes had nearly exhausted him. “Want to walk for a bit?”
His tone was one of negotiation.
Yu Qing didn’t want to get down—being held in his arms felt warm and secure—but she nodded anyway. “Thank you, President Fu.”
Fu Jichen gently set her down. At this point, he was too drained to even pick up his phone, let alone exert any strength.
His pants were soaked, and his shoes were beyond salvageable.
A few meters away, in the trunk of one of the cars, were spare clothes and shoes he kept for business trips.
Without hesitation, he decided against changing his shoes.
“The water on the road might not recede anytime soon. We can’t return to your rental apartment.” He looked at her as he spoke.
Yu Qing thought to herself that Beijing wasn’t limited to just this one road leading to her place. If this route was blocked, they could always take another.
But she followed Fu Jichen’s lead and feigned ignorance. “It looks like it won’t recede for hours.”
Fu Jichen had ulterior motives but gave her the choice. “It’s too late to keep moving around. Why don’t you check into a nearby hotel room?”
After a pause, he added, “If you’re not comfortable staying at a hotel, you can come to my place. It’s up to you.”
Yu Qing naturally wanted to go to his place. Staying at a hotel would cost money, and she was tight on cash right now. Going to his place might even give her a chance to develop something with him.
He was the first man who made her feel an impulse to live together and build a life with him.
From what she knew about his private life, he wasn’t the type to fool around or indulge in casual relationships.
Fu Jichen assumed she was hesitating. He wasn’t in a rush and patiently waited for her decision.
Yu Qing looked up. “You’re the boss—I’ll do as you say.”
Fu Jichen: “….”
She was setting a trap for him.
Her eyes sparkled mischievously—she clearly wasn’t someone who would put herself at a disadvantage.
He emphasized, “Even though I’m the boss, this is the first time I’ve privately interacted with an employee outside of work. As for bringing a woman home, that’s never happened before.”
He asked, “Are you sure you want me to make the decision?”
Yu Qing remained silent—she couldn’t afford to be passive.
Gradually, Fu Jichen regained some strength. He took the umbrella from her hand, stepped forward, and held it over both of them. The warmth of her palm still lingered on the umbrella handle.
Tonight, he was bewitched—he knew he shouldn’t get emotionally entangled with a subordinate. He also knew how troublesome it could become later.
One wrong move, and his image as a boss could be completely ruined.
He knew nothing about her except that she was skilled at tennis and worked at Fu Group. That was it.
Before tonight, the only positive impression she had left on him was when his secretary gave her a tip, and she passed it on to the other coach. He had seen it happen from the third floor.
She wasn’t greedy or vain—she earned her money through her own abilities.
Thinking about it, he found himself speechless. He had already labeled her with so many virtuous traits.
Logically, he understood everything—he shouldn’t get involved with her. Even personally escorting her home was crossing a line, let alone carrying her out of the car and now inviting her to his place.
But emotionally, he couldn’t control himself.
Fu Jichen leaned down, bringing his cheek close to hers.
Yu Qing’s breath hitched. Their faces were only two or three centimeters apart. Even when he had carried her earlier, they hadn’t been this intimate.
Yu Qing understood what Fu Jichen meant. Some things lost their meaning once spoken aloud, so he was using this moment to confirm her final decision—to go to a hotel or to his place.
She turned her face and kissed his cheek.
Fu Jichen cupped the back of her head and kissed her lips.
The rain drizzled softly, pattering on the umbrella above them.
This was the only sound between them at that moment.
Neither of them knew whose breathing was more erratic.
Fu Jichen gazed into her eyes. “I never bring women home, but if I do, I won’t have much self-control. I’ll give you one more minute to decide—go or not.”
Yu Qing raised her hand and wrapped it around his neck. “I dare not refuse. If I don’t go, wouldn’t you retaliate and fire me?”
Fu Jichen: “….”
Typical of her to play innocent after gaining an advantage.
“As long as I want, I’m not short of women—any kind of woman.”
Yu Qing smiled faintly. “But none like me.” She countered, “Otherwise, why haven’t you brought anyone else home?”
For a moment, Fu Jichen had no rebuttal—he couldn’t argue with her. “Fine, you win.”
He glanced at his watch. “Let’s go back.”
He walked toward the car.
Yu Qing followed closely behind. She felt as though she had known Fu Jichen for a very long time.

Fu Jichen’s apartment had no signs of feminine presence. He handed her a pair of new slippers, which were also men’s. “Make do with these.”
He pointed upstairs. “The bedroom is on the second floor. There’s a washing machine in the bathroom—you can wash your clothes and dry them, so it won’t affect what you wear to work tomorrow.”
After taking off his soaked shoes, he went straight to the downstairs bathroom.
Yu Qing had seen all kinds of luxury homes, so she wasn’t interested in admiring his apartment’s decor. She headed straight upstairs.
The master bedroom was decorated in shades of gray and white. The scent in the room matched the one on him—it seemed he often stayed here. On the bedside table were a few books, a water bottle, and a charger.
She set her bag down and went straight to the bathroom. Turning on the shower, warm water washed over every cell of her body.
He said it was his first time bringing a woman home, but for her, it was also her first time teasing a man and going home with him.
Choosing to work in Fu Group’s legal department wasn’t just about finding a stable job—it was partly driven by a selfish desire to meet him.
Their encounter seemed coincidental, but perhaps it was premeditated.
Coming back to reality, Yu Qing washed her hair, using his shampoo, then his body wash. Aside from grabbing a fresh towel and toiletries, she even wore his bathrobe.
She tossed her clothes into the washing machine and started blow-drying her hair.
By the time she came out, Fu Jichen had already showered and come upstairs.
Hearing her, he turned to look at her.
Yu Qing’s damp hair hung loosely over her shoulders. The sleeves of the bathrobe were too long, so she rolled them up and smiled softly. “President Fu, where should I sleep?”
Fu Jichen: “Under the bed.”
Yu Qing: “….”
Fu Jichen looked at her. She looked tiny in his clothes, and he opened his arms wide.
Yu Qing, still rolling up the other sleeve, walked over to him.
Fu Jichen held her supple waist with one hand and brushed her long hair back over her shoulder with the other.
Yu Qing looked up, and Fu Jichen lowered his head—their lips met.
The lights went out.
They kissed their way onto the bed.
Neither spoke, kissing each other tenderly and earnestly. Everything seemed to flow naturally.
Fu Jichen intertwined his fingers with hers and kissed her eyelids.
Ever since playing tennis with her last time, he hadn’t gone to the club for two months. He had been traveling abroad for work and had only recently returned. With so much to do, he hadn’t had time to visit.
“Have you been to the club recently?” What he really wanted to ask was whether she had played tennis with anyone else.
With her beauty and playful personality, as long as she made the first move, no one could resist her.
Yu Qing’s breathing grew uneven. “No.”
Fu Jichen: “Not working part-time anymore?”
Yu Qing considered carefully, trying not to lie. One lie led to a thousand others, and covering them up was exhausting. If he ever investigated her family background thoroughly, he would find out who her father was.
For now, she wanted to stay with him, so she decided to be honest and avoid trouble.
“I wasn’t there to work part-time. I went there to play tennis. The other coach got injured while playing with me.”
Fu Jichen stared at the woman beneath him. “Then why were you wearing the club’s uniform?”
Yu Qing: “It was a gift from the club. Why shouldn’t I wear it? Buying new clothes costs money, doesn’t it?”
Fu Jichen: “….”
He asked again, “Why haven’t you been there recently?”
Yu Qing answered truthfully. “I ran out of money and didn’t feel like going. I bought some futures, but my luck was bad—I’ve been losing.”
Fu Jichen didn’t dwell on the topic that made her uneasy. Instead, he kissed her gently, trying to cheer her up. He gave her enough kisses to help her relax completely.
In that intimate moment, Yu Qing instinctively grabbed his shoulder.
This deep exchange held a sense of ceremony for them.
In the heat of passion, Yu Qing called out his name, holding him tightly. He wanted to call her name too, but he didn’t know it. Asking her name at this moment would ruin the mood.
Yu Qing thought they could sleep after it was over, but Fu Jichen continued to hold her tightly without letting go.
“Fu Jichen, hug me one more time—I’m going to sleep.” She was reminding him not to cling to her too much; just one more hug and then he could let go. She was tired and wanted to sleep.
Misinterpreting her words as coquettishness, Fu Jichen initiated another round.
Both Yu Qing and Fu Jichen weren’t used to having someone lying beside them.
Once things calmed down, they each slept on their own.
Yu Qing was exhausted and drifted off into a drowsy state.
Fu Jichen, however, wasn’t sleepy at all. He glanced at her sideways.
Half-rising, he pulled her into his arms and kissed her. “You still haven’t told me your name.”
Yu Qing was too sleepy to open her eyes. “Yu Qing,” she murmured indistinctly.
Fu Jichen nodded and let her go.
So her name was Xu Xing.
Legal Department, Xu Xing.

At five o’clock the next morning, Fu Jichen woke up. Years of habit dictated that no matter how late he slept the night before, he would wake up at this time.
After finishing half an hour of morning exercise and taking a shower, he went upstairs to find Yu Qing still asleep.
He didn’t know what time she usually woke up, so he left her a note with his personal phone number written on it.
When Yu Qing woke up, the bed was already empty. It took her a moment to remember where she was. On the bedside table, under her phone, was a piece of paper.
The only thing she cared about was his personal phone number, which she quickly saved.
From now on, the only thing she needed to do was wait for him to contact her.
She also needed to think carefully about how to define their relationship and how to interact moving forward.
________________________________________
Throughout the day, Fu Jichen checked his phone more than ten times. No friend requests, no calls from unknown numbers.
Perhaps she was busy, and it wasn’t convenient to contact him during work hours.
By ten-thirty in the evening, her call still hadn’t come.
When Fu Jichen returned home, the housekeeper had already tidied up. Everything looked normal, as if she had never been there. The only trace she left was the note with his phone number.
She had drawn a small fish on it, its expression lazy.
He didn’t know what the fish meant—it might indicate she had read it?
Having seen his personal number, she had no reason not to contact him.
And so, two more days passed, and Xu Xing still hadn’t called him.
During lunch break, Fu Jichen called his secretary, Pan Zheng. “Look up the phone number of Xu Xing from the Legal Department.”
Pan Zheng: “Alright.”
After hanging up, Fu Jichen directly checked the legal department’s directory, but there was no one named Xu Xing. Coincidentally, there was no one in the legal department with the surname Xu or Xu.
He reported back to his boss. “President Fu, there’s no one named Xu Xing in the legal department.”
Fu Jichen felt a jolt in his heart. His first reaction was that he had been deceived.
Pan Zheng, unaware of the full story, asked cautiously, “Are you sure it’s the legal department?” After a pause, he added, “Is Xu Xing male or female?”
From the name alone, it was impossible to determine gender—it was somewhat neutral.
Suddenly, Fu Jichen wasn’t sure about the legal department either. She had said she worked there, but he couldn’t find any reason for her to lie.
“Female.”
After a few seconds, he added, “The tennis coach from last time.”
Pan Zheng: “….”
Afraid to ask more questions, he quickly searched the system, checking all employees of the group and subsidiaries working in the building, but found no match.
“President Fu, I’ll get back to you shortly.”
Fu Jichen grunted and ended the call.
In front of that woman, his emotional intelligence and IQ had plummeted to negative levels. His judgment had deteriorated alarmingly.
He was certain she was an employee of Fu Group.
That night, when she left the building, she waved to the security guard at the entrance—clearly familiar with the place.
Not long after, Pan Zheng knocked and entered, holding a tablet.
He placed the tablet in front of his boss. “President Fu, she does work in the legal department. Her name is Yu Qing.” Not Xu Xing.
Fu Jichen: “….”
Thankfully, Pan Zheng didn’t know that he had taken Yu Qing home last night.
Her electronic resume included her ID photo, which matched her name—exquisite.
Her current address was the rental apartment she mentioned last night—an older neighborhood, but prime real estate.
Her registered residence was in Shanghai, and the address on her ID belonged to a well-known villa district.
He only skimmed these details. What interested him most was her educational and professional background. He recognized the partners of her previous law firm.
Fu Jichen saved her phone number and immediately called that acquaintance. Skipping pleasantries, he cut straight to the chase. “Do you know Yu Qing?”
Among the hundreds of people in that law firm, Yu Qing wasn’t part of his team, but he knew of her. “What, are you interested in her?” His tone carried a hint of amusement.
It wasn’t surprising if Fu Jichen was smitten—countless wealthy heirs and elites had once lined up to pursue her.
Fu Jichen avoided answering and instead asked, “Can we skip the nonsense and get to the point?”
His friend relayed everything he knew. “Oh, and she’s quite the spender. No matter how busy she is on payday, she always finds time to shop.”
Before hanging up, his friend remembered one more thing. “I heard she’s not serious about relationships, which is why she’s still single. She’s always lived freely—no dating, no marriage.”
Fu Jichen: “….”
For some reason, he couldn’t shake the feeling that Yu Qing had abandoned him after getting what she wanted last night, which was why she hadn’t contacted him.
