Psst! We're moving!
Bo Ying had always loved dogs, ever since she was a child.
When she was little, she had a small Pomeranian with white, fluffy fur that looked especially cute and had a lovable smile.
She named the dog “Pom Pom.”
At the time, her brother complained about it, thinking she had no talent for naming things.
But Bo Ying didn’t think so. She believed she was quite talented at naming. Since her surname was Bo, of course her dog should share her last name. The name “Pom Pom” was not only catchy but also humorous.
Unfortunately, the dog didn’t live with her for even a year; it passed away before they could celebrate its first birthday.
After that, Bo Ying never owned another dog.
She wanted to, but she feared that the dog who left her might think she had given her love to another dog and feel hurt or sad.
So Bo Ying restrained herself and endured. As she grew older, she didn’t have the time to care for a dog, and the idea of owning one was put on hold.
Bo Ying stroked the big dog leaning against her leg, her lips curving upwards, her eyes softening.
“How can you not be sad?”
She looked at the clueless big dog and smiled. “Do you want to go downstairs to play?”
The big dog circled her legs affectionately, pawing at her pant cuffs—it was clear what it wanted.
Of course, it wanted to go out and play.
Bo Ying curved her lips slightly, glanced at Chi Xiaochi nearby, thought for a few seconds, then stood up to open a can for Chi Xiaochi, sent a message to Chi Lü, put a leash on the dog, and took it out for a walk.
The community where Bo Ying lived now was very large, with excellent greenery.
On one side were townhouses, while their side consisted of spacious flats. There was plenty of space and a wide range for activities.
On the side of the community, there was a large activity area with basketball courts, ping-pong tables, plastic running tracks, and other basic recreational facilities for residents.
Bo Ying led He Jingxiu’s dog towards that area.
At first, she pulled the dog as they ran, but after a while, the dog started pulling her. Bo Ying wasn’t someone who exercised regularly, so after a short while, she was out of breath and her legs felt weak.
“Stop, stop, stop…” Bo Ying tugged at the leash weakly, beads of sweat forming on her forehead. “How can you run so much?”
She couldn’t help but tug at the leash and poke the dog’s head. “You’re just like your dad, aren’t you?”
The dog looked at her innocently, sticking out its tongue to pant.
Bo Ying couldn’t stay mad at it, her lips curving upwards again. “What’s your name?”
Only then did she remember that when Sheng Chun handed over the dog, she hadn’t mentioned its name. And He Jingxiu had always just referred to it as “the dog,” without mentioning its name either.
The dog, of course, couldn’t answer her.
Bo Ying walked the dog around the community for half an hour before stopping to rest.
During the break, she checked the time and sent a few messages to He Jingxiu. She estimated that if he had landed, he would reply.
Throughout the night, Bo Ying took care of the dog, and even Chi Xiaochi was carried back downstairs by Chi Lü, leaving them undisturbed.
Bo Ying found that He Jingxiu’s dog was very friendly, neither barking nor biting randomly, and was extremely obedient.
The person and the dog got along exceptionally well.
When He Jingxiu disembarked from the plane, it was already midnight in the country.
He opened his phone and saw numerous messages. He narrowed his eyes and directly opened Bo Ying’s.
After reading her messages, his lips curved slightly, and his brows relaxed as he replied.
Qi Xuezhen peeked secretly from the side and felt admiration for Bo Ying.
Ever since hearing about the branch company’s issues, He Jingxiu’s expression had been grim throughout the ten-hour flight, his face remaining dark and forbidding those around him from approaching.
But now, he seemed as if bathed in spring breeze.
If it weren’t for fear of losing his job, Qi Xuezhen really wanted to see what Bo Ying had said to He Jingxiu.
Actually, Bo Ying hadn’t said much to He Jingxiu. She merely asked for the dog’s name, some other precautions, and why he suddenly entrusted her with taking care of it—did he not fear she might mistreat his dog?
He Jingxiu, of course, wasn’t afraid.
He knew Bo Ying liked dogs and would take good care of them.
He focused intently and replied to Bo Ying’s messages.
At the end, He Jingxiu sent her a message saying goodnight. Unsurprisingly, she was probably asleep.
Just as he finished and was about to exit, He Jingxiu paused, typing two words: Good morning.
From sunrise to sunset, he wanted to be the first to say good morning and the last to say goodnight to her.
In the twenty-four hours of a day, the time she hid away belonged entirely to him.

The next morning, Bo Ying woke up early.
She didn’t know if it was because she wasn’t used to having a dog at home or if her heart felt empty. Either way, she hadn’t slept well all night.
As she got up and picked up her phone, heading to the bathroom, she happened to check He Jingxiu’s messages while brushing her teeth.
Upon seeing the dog’s name He Jingxiu had sent, Bo Ying immediately replied with a string of question marks.
Bo Ying: [Your dog is named Pom Pom??]
Bo Ying: [Does your Golden Retriever know it’s called this? Doesn’t it protest?]
He Jingxiu hadn’t gone to sleep yet, and as soon as her message came through, he sent her a video call request.
Bo Ying glanced at it, looked up at herself in the mirror, and silently switched it to a voice call before answering.
“Why are you awake so early?”
After a night, He Jingxiu’s voice no longer sounded as crisp and pleasant. Instead, it carried a slight static, raspy and hoarse, which somehow sounded sexy.
Bo Ying paused, holding the phone to the side and rubbing her ear. “It’s not early.”
She glanced at the time. “I’m about to take the dog out for a walk.”
He Jingxiu was momentarily stunned, then chuckled softly. “It’s fine to walk it later.”
“Oh!” Bo Ying hummed softly. “You haven’t told me yet. What name did you give your dog?”
She frowned. “How can you name a Golden Retriever ‘Pom Pom’?”
He Jingxiu fell silent for a moment, correcting her. “Its name is He Pom Pom.”
“…” Bo Ying was speechless, really wanting to ask if adding a surname made it less insulting to a Golden Retriever.
He Jingxiu sensed her silence and asked in a pleasant voice, “Do you think this name doesn’t sound good?”
Bo Ying felt he had deliberately chosen this name. Her little heart fluttered uncontrollably, feeling rather weak.
Bo Ying pressed her hand against her chest, coughing lightly. “It’s just average. It’s not artistic, nor does it sound nice.”
He Jingxiu chuckled to himself. “I think it sounds good.”
Bo Ying made a face at her reflection in the mirror, pouting. “Then your sense of aesthetics and taste is questionable.”
“No.” He Jingxiu didn’t admit it.
“How is it not?” Bo Ying tried to argue with him. “Naming a Golden Retriever like this, how can you claim your sense of aesthetics is fine?”
He Jingxiu fell silent briefly, then suddenly asked, “Do you think you’re pretty?”
“?”
This sudden change of topic caught Bo Ying off guard.
She was stunned for two seconds, then replied arrogantly, “Of course I’m pretty.”
She wasn’t insecure about this. She wasn’t stunning or breathtakingly beautiful, but she definitely belonged in the category of pretty.
After answering, Bo Ying realized she might have been too straightforward. She thought for a moment and tossed the ball back to him. “Do you think I’m not pretty?”
If He Jingxiu said she wasn’t pretty, she’d keep his dog and never return it.
He Jingxiu hummed, “Pretty.”
Bo Ying’s eyes lit up, her eyebrows lifting. “Then isn’t that it?”
He Jingxiu curved his lips slightly, his deep voice returning to the previous topic. “Then my sense of aesthetics is fine.”
“???”
“…”
Bo Ying was dumbfounded for half a minute before understanding his indirect implications.
He was defending his sense of aesthetics because he liked her.
If Bo Ying questioned this point, it would be equivalent to doubting herself.
Realizing this, Bo Ying felt a mix of emotions.
She stuttered, muttering resentfully, “Can’t you just say it outright?”
“Say what?” He Jingxiu teased her. “Bo Ying, you know what I mean.”
He wasn’t someone who spoke bluntly. Sometimes, actions spoke louder than words. He Jingxiu had always believed that from their reunion until now, his attitude toward Bo Ying and his favoritism toward her were obvious.
Bo Ying slowed down her tooth-brushing motions, lowering her lashes to gaze at herself in the mirror.
The two remained silent.
She didn’t speak, and He Jingxiu didn’t rush her, patiently waiting.
Bo Ying wasn’t sure how much time had passed. When she snapped out of it, toothpaste had smeared onto her clothes.
She let out a sudden wail, grabbing a tissue to wipe her collar.
“What happened?”
“Nothing.” Bo Ying quickly finished brushing her teeth, speaking unclearly. “Toothpaste got on my clothes.”
He Jingxiu: “….”
He pinched his brow bridge helplessly, softly saying, “I won’t rush you for an answer. You don’t need to be so nervous.”
Bo Ying: “Oh…”
She fell silent for a while, looking at He Pom Pom, who had entered the bathroom and was squatting by the door, waiting for her.
The person and the dog stared at each other. Bo Ying blinked slowly and said, “Before I returned to the country, I made a bet with a friend.”
He Jingxiu: “What?”
He was waiting for her answer.
Bo Ying reached out to rub He Pom Pom’s head, speaking softly. “We bet on who would find a partner first—the loser would be the dog.”
She pondered for a moment, saying seriously, “I don’t want to be He Pom Pom just yet.”
“…”
He Jingxiu was momentarily choked by her words, unable to refute her.
He followed with silence for a moment, then said, “I understand.”
Bo Ying raised an eyebrow, about to say something, when He Jingxiu asked, “Who did you make the bet with?”
“What do you mean?” Bo Ying reacted a bit slowly, directly replying, “Zheng Jinyao. You’ve met her.”
Bo Ying had mentioned Zheng Jinyao’s name to He Jingxiu a few times. A few days ago, she had dinner with Zheng Jinyao, and they coincidentally bumped into each other at the company entrance.
He Jingxiu hummed, his tone slightly heavy. “What are her standards for choosing a partner? Which industry does she prefer, and what type?”
“…?”
Bo Ying was momentarily confused, then suddenly understood.
She suppressed a laugh, her eyes curving into crescents. “Are you planning to introduce someone to her?”
He Jingxiu: “That’s the idea.”
