Week 9: Scene

Mon 3/16--On the discussion site on Canvas, please post the following:

• • Using the techniques you analyzed from your place passage and/or from other people's passage, write your own setting passage

    • You might describe a made-up setting that you plan to use in your upcoming story

    • You might describe another, totally funky setting you have no idea what to do with yet

    • You might describe a room in your house or another place you're very familiar with

    • Word count: 350-400 words

Tues 3/17--Read Writing Fiction, "Long Ago: Fictional Time," pp. 193-207.

Thurs 3/19--Draft of second story due

• • Please bring three paper copies to class!

  • Same guidelines and rules as for story #1

  • Please run your story through Writer's Diet

    • Note that it doesn't necessarily mean there's a problem if your story gets "flabby"!

Fri 3/20--NO SCHOOL!

Note: revision of your story will be due on 3/27 (day before spring break)
