Fall' 12--Weeks Sixteen-Eighteen
Monday 12/10--
1. Read all my comments on your Odyssey essay on turnitin.com
2. Re-read your essay.
3. On the homework page of your personal website, please do the following:
Fix ALL the mechanical errors in your essay (e.g. spelling, punctuation, grammar, citation format, formatting, etc.)
Substantially revise ONE paragraph of the essay.
By substantial revision, I mean that you shouldn't just fix the mechanics (see above) but add, delete, edit or completely re-write the paragraph according to my suggestions.
Please post the OLD version of the paragraph below the new version (and specify which is the new and which is the old version).
Tuesday 12/11--In-class essay #1 on poetry (you will read the poem at-sight).
Wednesday 12/12--Read and mark up sonnets: "The World is Too Much With Us" (17) and "Quixote" (18).
Thursday 12/13--Read and mark up "Dulce et Decorum Est" (24).
Friday 12/14--Read and mark up "Traveling Through Dark" (21). Please answer the questions at the bottom of the poem (write your answers on the poem itself).
Monday 12/17--Read and mark up "Oranges" (25).
Tuesday 12/18--Read and take notes on “A Martian Sends a Postcard Home” (10) and “Ode to My Socks” (22).
Wednesday 12/19--Master Vocabulary Test--

Tuesday 1/8--In-class essay #2 on poetry
One good way to prepare for the in-class tomorrow is to read the "Crabs" essays posted under "Sample Essays" on your period's website.
Also, review the poetic devices we've studied.

Thursday 1/10--Please re-read your two poetry essays and decide which one you want to be graded. Also, do passage analysis practice and post your assignment here (also click on the link for directions).
