1. Read Seneca, pp. 3-15.

2. Journal entry #1. Possible topic for journal: noises. What are noises that really bother you, that you love, that capture the feeling of a place? Describe the place you live, focusing on sounds. You might also explore your relationship to these sounds. Word count: 350 words.
