          • You must do a careful, close analysis of at least THREE important words or phrases from this passage

          • Show how these words and/or phrases reveal something interesting about the theme you've chosen

        • Word count: 250 words

    • Reading day: you'll read pp. 262-292 (30 pages) in class.

Mon 12/8: Bel Canto, pp. 292-318 (26 pages)

    • Questions to consider as you finish the novel: What moral questions does the novel raise for you? For your character? How will your character be changed by this experience? What would justice look like at the end of the novel?

    • OPTIONAL: Attached to the Personal Essay and Revision Guidelines are three personal essays by Ann Patchett

      • The one titled "The Paris Match" is approximately the same word count as your personal essay so a good one to look at for pacing and length.
