Shorthand for Comments

[Unclear Pron] Ref: This means that I’m not clear what noun or the pronoun refers to. Usually, this means there are two possible subjects to which the pronoun could refer.

Ts: topic sentence

P[unct]: error in punctuation

QuoParPunc: remember that the punctuation goes after the page number. E.g. "freedom" (7).

    • But the period goes INSIDE when no page number follows the quotation: e.g. "stones."

Para: shorthand for “paragraph”

VT[ense]: an issue with verb tense. Usually, this means that you’re writing in the past tense when you should be using the present tense.

Sp: spelling error

Gr: means there’s a grammar error

q: short for quotation

A[naly] q: Analyze your quotation

There is/are: try to avoid these phrases; they're just filler.

u[sage]//WC: incorrect use of a word

s[ubj]/v[b agr]: error with subject/verb agreement. In other words, the verb is grammatically inconsistent with the subject of the sentence or clause.
