Fri 11/7--S:Read and take notes on Book 20 of The Odyssey

Week Thirteen (11-15 Nov)

Mon 11/11--S: Read and take notes on Book 21 of The Odyssey

Tues 11/12 (Block F) or Weds 11/13 (Block C)--L: Grammar:

  • In pink workbook, do pages 38 and 40.

  • Bring pink workbook to class.

Thurs 11/14 (Block F) or Fri 11/15 (Block C)-- L: Read and take notes on Book 22 of The Odyssey

Week Fourteen (18-22 Nov)

Mon 11/18--S: Read and take notes on Book 23 of The Odyssey

Tues 11/19--S: Read and take notes on Book 24 of The Odyssey

Wed 11/20 (Block F) or Thurs 11/21 (Block C)--L: In-class essay #2

    • Essay Prep/Freewrite on Canvas due.

      • Please review Book 22, especially pp. 410-411, and Book 24, especially pp. 449-450.

      • Click here for assignment (link is now active)

  • Please review your first in-class essay on The Odyssey

    • You're able to see it on Google Classroom (view-only privileges).

    • Think about what you did well and what you'd like to differently on the upcoming essay.

  • Make sure to bring your computer fully charged.

  • Please bring your copy of The Odyssey.

Fri 11/22--S: Grammar Review

  • In pink workbook, please do the following exercises (note: we started some of these exercises in class):

    • DOs: p. 37

    • DOs and IOs, p. 38

    • Predicate Adjectives and Predicate Nouns: p.41-42

      • The term used at the top of the page is subjective complement

        • But you should identify PAs (predicate adjectives) and PNs (predicate nouns)

    • Don't worry if you find these exercises hard. We'll review them carefully in class!

    • Note that "simple predicate" means the main verb of the sentence.

    • Bring pink workbook to class.

Note: Upcoming grammar test on 12/3 for Block F and 12/4 for Block C

Also: next Monday, I'll ask you which in-class essay you'd like me to grade and comment on. If it's helpful, you can meet with a writing coach on Friday or early next week (you can request an extension for your decision, in this case).
