Mon 3/21--Read "St. Lucy's Home for Girls Raised by Wolves" in Writing Fiction, pp. 172-184.

Tues 3/22--Journal assignment:

  • Describe a moment of great intensity in your life. Notice your writing process as you describe it. Does your writing change as it becomes more intense? You might write about the process of writing about the moment of intensity (meta-writing).

      • Write the first 300 words on this.

Thurs 3/24--NOTE: Change in assignment: Please read Writing Fiction, Chapter 8, "Call Me Ishmael: Point of View," pp. 276-292. (We'll read "Christmas Miracle" soon, I promise!

Fri 3/25--Draft of story due

      • Period 4's word: "pocket watch"

      • Period 5's word: "crutches"

    • Please bring three paper copies to class!

    • Same guidelines and rules as for story #1: story guidelines

    • Please run your story through the Writer's Diet

      • Note that it doesn't necessarily mean there's a problem if your story gets a "flabby" rating!
