Week 1
Monday, 2/1 – No class! Teacher in-service day.
Tuesday, 2/2 – Review of Final Exam; introduction to Shakespeare and Twelfth Night
Wednesday, 2/3 – Twelfth Night: Act 1, Scene 1 (plus watch some of film)
Thursday, 2/4 -- Twelfth Night: I, 2 &3
Friday, 2/5 – Vocab quiz on Chapter 1 on VEII (the green one); read about participles in HGW, pp. 130 – 132 and Workbook, p. 51 and do exercises on p. 52.
Week 2
Monday, 2/8 -- Twelfth Night: I, 4&5
Tuesday, 2/9 -- Twelfth Night: II, 1 & 2
Wednesday, 2/10 -- Twelfth Night: II, 3
Thursday, 2/11 – In-class writing on Twelfth Night: II, 4 OR an earlier passage from a previous reading.
Friday, 2/12 – Vocab quiz on VEII, Chapter 2; read about gerunds in Workbook, pp. 53 & 54 and do exercises on p. 53.
Week 3
Monday, 2/15 – No school!
Tuesday, 2/16 – Discuss Twelfth Night: II, 4 and read II, 5
Wednesday, 2/17 -- Twelfth Night: III, 1 & 2
Thursday, 2/18 -- Twelfth Night: III, 3 & 4 up to p. 119 (enter Sir Andrew).
Friday, 2/19 – Vocab quiz on VEII, Chapter 3; read about infinitives in Workbook, p. 58 and start exercises on p. 59.
Week 4
Monday, 2/22 -- Twelfth Night: Finish Act III
Tuesday, 2/23 -- Twelfth Night: IV
Wednesday, 2/24 -- Twelfth Night: V, pp 161 - 175
Thursday, 2/25 – Finish Twelfth Night.
Friday, 2/26 – Vocab quiz on VEII, Chapter 4; do phrase review exercises on p. 61 of Workbook.
Week 5
Monday, 3/1 – Work on Twelfth Night essay. On a sheet of paper to hand in, choose three "meaty" quotations that seem to pertain to your topic and write 3-4 sentences analyzing each one.
Tuesday, 3/2 – Work on Twelfth Night essay. On a sheet of paper to hand in, bring in an introductory paragraph with thesis and a first body paragraph. Bring in THREE copies.
Wednesday, 3/3 – No classes (Faculty In-Service)
Thursday, 3/4 -- Twelfth Night essay due. Bring The Great Gatsby to class.
Friday, 3/5 – Review gerunds, participles, infinitives, prep phrases for test on Monday. You'll also need to know the grammar from 1st semester (e.g. parts of speech and functions of words in a sentence--e.g. subj, d.o.).
