This time of year, The York School is getting seriously competitive about house challenges. Luckily, we’re here to deliver the inside perspective on strategies and why each house is where they are in the rankings. Take a look below to find out our predictions for the next few months, house by house.
Fire: While house member Brooklyn Schwartz claims they have no one strategy, we have reason to believe that’s a cover up for a more competitive approach. Historically, this house has been very successful in challenges and consistently wins the house cup quite often compared to some of its counterparts, which some believe is due to the fiery nature of its members. This year it has mostly floated around the top of the leaderboard. Jade personally predicts their win this year, despite their earning the least points of any house during winter spirit week. Hopefully it will motivate them to keep working harder towards the house cup and rewards for various challenges this term. Best of luck, and we can’t wait to see them bring the heat to our next round of competitions!
Earth: Earth is certainly a rock-solid competitor in this year’s house standings. They have used spirit, teamwork and skill to work their way up to the top of the leaderboard for several months at a time, playing to their advantages nicely. They’ve certainly got the confidence to fuel them, with a recent win in winter spirit weeks challenges and activities, which has certainly helped them grow as a house. We think Earth’s main strength, the root of their success, if you will, is their enthusiasm and participation. Every possible time one can contribute to the house points, there ought to be at least a few students in green giving it their all. We wish them good luck, though they probably won’t need it, and look forward to watching their efforts pay off!
Water: Now, we’re a little biased as both of us are in Water, but also kind of disappointed. Our house relies mostly on consistency and reliability, but this year that doesn’t seem to be getting us very far as we were in last place for several months. We’re sure water will put in their absolute best effort for the months ahead, though, so that we can climb our way up the leaderboard. Let’s keep showcasing that spirit, Water! Good luck and we believe in you.
Air: Air house has been doing incredibly well this year and this term specifically, coming first and second in many house challenges like the “Bead Bonanza” challenge and spirit week. It’s clear that they’ve been putting in a lot of effort and encouraging members of their house to do the same, especially since many spirit council and student council members can be seen sporting yellow at house challenge assemblies. Keep up the good work, air house, and we hope to see your success streak continue.
As always, thanks for reading and have a wonderful return to session!
