As IB learners it is not only important to have good academic skills, but to maintain a balanced lifestyle. In this article, I will be discussing “How to Survive IB,” while maintaining a good balance between academics, extracurricular activities and social life.
First, it is important to have a good organizational system in place for academics. It is recommended that you have a schedule planned out. Once, you plan your routine, STICK TO IT!
Hopefully, it will help you be successful. If not, alter your routine and find one routine that works best for you.
Second, extracurricular activities. It is important to have a passion that excites you in High School. Find a niche that works for you. Extracurricular activities help you develop your personality, figure out your likes and dislikes, and keep you active and socially connected. You may even discover a talent or passion that will stay with you for the rest of your life. It’s also important to try things you don’t expect to like. Sign up for one of the co-curricular or athletic activities offered this year and take a chance..hmm, what about The Stand.
Third, social. Having a social life cannot be underestimated. It’s a time to chill and have fun with your friends (don’t forget to socially distance or socialize virtually), engage in riveting conversations and learn new things, and feel unencumbered and free. It’s really important to remember to find time to have fun and feel connected with your peers in the midst of school craziness.
These are some important insights into having a balanced IB life and why it’s important. Also, smile as it will bring you up when you are down.
