Hey York!
Lunar New Year will be celebrated this year on Sunday, January 22nd!
To celebrate, the school will be hosting events, a casual day and offering opportunities for education about this holiday on a specified day next week. Read on to find out more!
We will be having a Red Casual Day on Friday, January 20th.
All students are encouraged to get decked out in red to honour the casual day
If your celebrations for Lunar New Year include traditional clothing, you are welcome to come dressed in that as well
That morning from 8am-8:45am in front reception, the Mandarin club will be serving green tea and Hong Bao (red envelopes with chocolate coins) to symbolize a special tradition that occurs during the new year.
There will also be a display near the Citizenship office including informative slides about Lunar New Year's celebrations around the world.
The 2023 Lunar New Year slides can be found here!
They are full of amazing information, opportunities for you to provide personal experiences related to this celebration and some really great York Reflects videos. ENJOY!
