2023 lunar new year celebrations

LUNAR NEW YEAR DETAILS & RED CASUAL DAY 

Hey York!

Lunar New Year will be celebrated this year on Sunday, January 22nd! 

To celebrate, the school will be hosting events, a casual day and offering opportunities for education about this holiday on a specified day next week. Read on to find out more!

WHAT: 

• We will be having a Red Casual Day on Friday, January 20th.

WHO:

• All students are encouraged to get decked out in red to honour the casual day

• If your celebrations for Lunar New Year include traditional clothing, you are welcome to come dressed in that as well

SPECIAL EVENTS: 

• That morning from 8am-8:45am in front reception, the Mandarin club will be serving green tea and Hong Bao (red envelopes with chocolate coins) to symbolize a special tradition that occurs during the new year. 

• There will also be a display near the Citizenship office including informative slides about Lunar New Year's celebrations around the world.
