eco team waste audit: analyzing the results

On Monday December 5, the Eco Team launched a new initiative - their annual waste audit. It aimed to sort through waste at our school to see the contamination in our recycling. Results were analyzed to find improvements that we can use to reduce the school's environmental footprint. This is was a very valuable use of time and participants even received service hours for helping out! 

So, without further ado, here are the results that our Earthlings discovered...

Second Floor:

• A whole 29% of garbage bins had items that could be recycled

• Lots of recycling bins, about 33% to be specific, had items that were supposed to be in the garbage

Remember:

• If your bottle has LIQUID still in it, think twice before you toss

• All liquid must be dumped out before plastic bottles can be recycled
