Weekly Cancellation- Cancel Excessive phone use
I know you hear it all the time… “Put your phone down!” “Social media is bad for your health”..and the many array of slogans we are told to stay away from our phones. Don’t get me wrong, phones are super fun, and even helpful, for connecting us, playing Township, learning a new language, buying concert tickets…amongst many other activities. However, how much is too much, and what are some of the potential harms? With assessments coming up, here are some ways to manage phone use, and connect with yourself and others.
Some risks with phone use-
It uses up SO much time that could be used towards healthier and productive habits, as well as spending quality time with the people we love
It can impact relationships as when we are on our phones, we are disconnected to the people around us
It can negatively impact our sleep, when we use it before bed
Challenge yourself to take a break from phone use (it’s ok if this feels uncomfortable). Try to put it in another room, set time limits on apps and discover a new restful pass time. Sometimes I put my phone on grayscale because then it’s boring to look at.Recently I deleted all social media, which has significantly reduced my time on my phone. I noticed that my sleep has improved, I have been reading more and spending more time exploring new hobbies! Try it- and see what other things you discover about yourself!
